Okay folks, thanks to CL_FlyThenFall (who JUST got his badge back!) we were able to corral VMK_Mocha for about 10 minutes and discuss with her the new "rules" and I wanted to pass them along here.

First of all...if it flashes red and you know it's not someone's title (name) in VMK, DON'T TRY TO SAY IT...straight from VMK_Mocha herself. The new rule is, don't work around the dictionary to try and say things, and don't use words to make other words (weak-week, on, too, free, for, hive etc..., car lie for knee a and so on).

Second, no personal information of ANY KIND is allowed. This includes, but is not limited to:

occupation
school information
age
siblings
parental information
anything about living near a park
having an annual pass
being old/young
being big/little
where you live
what show is on tv (gives time zone)
weather (gives location)

I'm sure I'll add to this, but it's the only stuff I can think of for now. I realize this isn't all bannable stuff, but it is all considered "personal information" and VMK is cracking down.

Hope this helps some of you!! I'll add to it when my brain isn't fried. :)

Edited to add:

Concerned that VMK staff isn't following their own rules?

IF YOU SEE A CAST MEMBER OR YAVN USING INAPPROPRIATE DICTIONARY STUFF, CALL THEM ON IT!

in so many words.

So, if you see a VMK Staffer say something that's no longer allowed make sure you let them know! Mocha said we need to set an example (meaning VMK staffers and CL's) for all players and she would like to be told when/if she messes up.

Thanks for the info, Shorts, but this really is not different from the rules set before our eyes when we all signed up for the game. :confused3 Again, VMK is supposed to be a safe, family friendly community and has to enforce the rules to do so. I'd really encourage everyone to review the "House Rules" and safety information on the home page very carefully before logging on again. :wizard:

Sometimes, due to the numerous amounts of TOS/service agreements existing online, we as humans ignore them naturally. I am guilty of doing this before too. But, VMK still needs to maintain a safe environment hence these types of bans on personal information.

Have fun in the kingdom all and stay safe! :)

Has anything happened recently to make VMK start the crackdown? I'm just asking, as up until a few days ago, it was frowned upon, but accepted (after all it was nice to say that you had got a big score at fireworks or jungle cruise, or that you had reached level 3 of pirates).

I understand the reasons why, but I'm wondering if there will be anything left to talk about, other than being someone's b/f g/f, having a kid, trading, or just insulting someone - you can say someone is a loser and they stink, but you can't say you have a five star pirate (surely being able to say you have one of the best pins is more acceptable than rude and nasty behaviour?)

I don't know about anyone else, but I have made some good friends on here (dewberry, debsangels and girls, lilgreenman and simbacub, to name just a few). Its great to come home after a bad day at work and hang with my new friends (in a private room, so no children or ppl we don't know are present), and chat about our day, and make each other laugh.

I would like to see (if it's possible), with future expansions to see if we can have some kind of adult area or room (credit card verification of age - still free, just to confirm you are over 18, and password to enter), where we can say virtually what we want (within reason!!), without the fear of being hounded, or affecting children in any way.

I appreciate and fully support Disney's desire to protect the children on this site, but the adults here should also be able to make their own decisions on whether to give out personal information or not.

...Wow this was a long post! Sorry, just had to vent (I had a bad day at work and obviously cannot now discuss it on VMK!)

OK, so how in the world did my Super Teacher get approved? Am I not supposed to answer if someone asks if I'm really a teacher? I don't get it. Not barking at anyone in this post, just in general--I'm honestly surprised my name hasn't been recalled.

This, NikkiBell, is exactly why I posted this thread. With the sudden change in strictness here in VMK, I felt it important to post specifics on what the GENERAL rules state.

Sorry if this is thought to be wasting space, but it seems that more people read the Dis boards than the VMK House Rules and I was trying to help out. :)

Rofl. OK, I was amused by this. I reported my experiences with VMK_Mocha not following published rules and I've yet to hear back. I'll believe this when I see it.

So, the bottom line to the post is really, not to say anything.

And I hate to break it to Disney & VMK, but I had an Annual Pass for *years* before moving to the Tampa area. For much of that time, I was at minimum a 6 hour drive from WDW and mostly a 2 hour plane ride. Having an Annual pass is NOT an indication of any location other than the fact that I live on this planet.

good grief. It's gotten ridiculous.

I have to add, I agree whole heartedly with everything PixieBelle posted above. There is a difference between having a safe environment and being overly restrictive. VMK is dangerously close to that line.

A crackdown does not surprise me, but this does not bode well for the socialites among us :sad2:. Sounds like it could get kind of. . .um. . .boring :rolleyes1.

I agree, I have an annual pass, and live 4000 miles away! :moped: :moped:

It is a 9 hour flight from where I live to WDW, can someone tell me where that is in the world (and if they can, can they give me my address? No?).
For me, I feel that 'personal information' (relating to location), is anything more detailed that what state or country you live in. Simply by telling someone you live in New York, does not give out your home address, telephone number or social security number!
I don't agree with anything more detailed than that, and sometimes it can educate people from different countries and cultures ("Hey mom, I talked to someone from Outer Mongolia today!" "That's great honey, lets get the atlas and see where that is, and we can see how ppl live over there!") :teeth:

Oh yea, I am going to inform Yavn or any other staff that they are not following the rules. I am sure that would go over good!!

Great job GBShorts. Did you taking notes while Mocha was talking? I just happened to stop by your in the middle of things. I learned a lot and was very happy that Fly got his pin back. Thanks for taking the time to write it up.

I still believe that it's VMK poor communication with the players and especially the CL's that actually caused Fly's problem. Their inability to contact all CL's about meetings or enforcement of rules is their problem. I can't believe a system as suffisticated as VMK lacks this ability. Even a posting on the home page for meeting or an article about rule enforcement could have saved a lot of heartach. I'll get off my soap box now.

As the Weather is also....like it can not be raining or storming in Tenneessee and California at the same time... :earseek:

It is strange but I have read the House Rules over and over and I can not see the above mentioned:

VMK House Rules
Whether this is your first time online or you're a seasoned visitor, we've spelled out our house rules for you here. Generally speaking, these rules simply require respect and good manners. Use common sense and you'll feel right at home.

Our specific house rules:
In VMK when it comes to messaging, or chat of any kind, we don't allow obscene, racist, or sexually explicit language, nor do we allow chat or activities that are not consistent with the VMK site. We reserve the right to remove postings and communications that defame or insult anyone, as well as notes that are abusive or hateful. Any harassing comments or messages that might be construed as stalking will be deleted and made available to the proper law-enforcement officials.
No solicitations or advertisements are allowed. These include advertisements for your business or latest get-rich-quick scheme. Such notes add clutter and devalue conversation.
You may not suggest or encourage illegal activity. In regards to any illegal or questionable behavior we will assist law-enforcement officials.
You can not use VMK to communicate works copyrighted by other people.
You must respect the privacy of individuals. This means no communication or solicitation of phone numbers, addresses, Social Security numbers, or any other personally identifiable information.
You participate at your own risk in messaging and chat. Keep your password secret, you are responsible for communications from your VMK Character Use information provided by other players at your own risk. VMK takes no responsibility for the content or opinions, from chat, or messaging, or any other communication.
If you see any communication that you feel violates any of the above house rules, please notify the community host by clicking on the 'Help' button in the game, or the Contact Us link on the website.
You will have the opportunity to play games within VMK in order to earn rewards. These rewards are subject to change and may have limited availability. In-Park rewards do not include Park admission.
Don't buy or sell accounts or items. We reserve the right to cancel any player account that was bought or sold, or player accounts that have bought or sold items.
By use of this site and the VMK game, you agree to abide by the VMK Terms of Use.
Failure to comply with the rules of VMK may result in your being banned from VMK temporarily or even permanently.
Use good judgment, and enjoy your time in VMK.

ok thats a bit boring because sometimes we have to use hive and fee or too because i have a two star pirate pin and i was going to trade it in for something else so i have to say too see so trading wise i think you can say numbers but i mean thats true and everything but i report anything i see wrong going on but when i report a minute later it says if someone is bothering you to mute them or take them off your friends list and if you want us to have safty then why not send any body out :confused3

Pixiebell, I agree with you completely. What does that leave us to talk about? What the Yeti said this morning? LOL

Sad to say, if they don't come up with a better way to communicate, a lot of the "adult" and "WDW trip-planning" members of the game will be leaving in droves... or else dropping dead from boredom! :rolleyes1

Ok, since we are covering things you cannot say pretty well already, i figured i would contribute some things you can say in VMK.

Now pay attention, this is very useful, it may even save your virtual life one day.

You can say:

elvis
smoofers
shania twain
and egad.

You can even say:

egad said elvis, i have a lot of credits. smoofers said shania twain.

now, if that doesnt help you, i don't know what will. :confused3 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

while i agree the safe envirement for kids blah blah blah, thats different than being dictatorial, i mena i am NOT taking the WDW AP part from my sig until the refuse to let me log on because of it.

I just want to know one thing. . . Who was the first person in there who thought to try out "egad" :rotfl:.

LOL Mike! Nice research ;)

Other things that you CAN say in VMK:

"r u taken?"

Usually followed up by:

"ur ugly anyway"
"loser"

or my personal favorite:

"Boo ur song stinks"

:rotfl2:
