July 15th, 2008 – T minus 58 days
Here I am beginning my very first trip report, after 3 trips to Disney in the past two years. As much as I try, I know I won’t be able to pack for the next 58 days, so that leaves me with one other thing to do, write. I asked Rick (the bf) this past weekend, if he was going to start packing, and he somewhat laughed it off and said no (after all it is summer, can’t he just wear pants and long sleeves until we go, so he can pack his shorts and t-shirts?). I have begun throwing some things together in my carry-on bag in anticipation, otherwise known as impatience. All trip reports seem to include a back history of some sort, so without further adieu (I knew I wouldn’t spell that correctly the first time), here is our story.
Rick and I met almost 7 years ago, when I moved from another town, and he was looking for local friends that were interested in Volkswagens, as he was. We met through a website where VW friends from all over the states and other countries gathered to talk about all things VW, and any other topic that fancied us. After spending some time together, we started dating in May of the following year. Six years later, things have been wonderfully perfect (not really, and I don’t know how people say that), I can’t lie, things have been tough, very tough at times. But we have grown together. Through deaths in the family, making friends, trying to lose friends, new jobs, no money, me going through undergrad and graduate school, purchasing and fixing up of a house (although we don’t live together yet), new jobs, cars, pets, vacations, and most importantly us growing together, and forming a strong relationship in the process.
Our first trip together to Disney was to the Pop Century, back in July 2006 (first time staying onsite). We thoroughly enjoyed this trip together, as it was my first back to Disney since, somewhere around 1996 (a very brief band trip in high school). Rick used to drive there each year with his family when he was a kid, but hadn’t been since his trip in 2001 where he only went to Pleasure Island, and previously in 1992 with his family. Needless to say it was a much-needed Disney vacation. Many of the details escape me, but we do remember enjoying the food at the Pop food court (discovering tie-dye cheesecake). That trip we had no ADR’s (we didn’t know they were necessary), so needless to say we must have eaten very often at the resort. Did we even eat? Long lines waiting for the bus in the morning. After this trip, where would we go? Back to the Pop? Try living the high life at a deluxe resort?
I enjoy trip reports with pictures, so I plan to include many along the way!

My .Mac account is acting up, so I will include the pictures in my post tomorrow.
