I have come off absolutely drenched from some water rides, but just a refreshing shower in others. Now I carry a plastic poncho in my bag for the really drenching ones............question always is.........while I'm standing in line..........now do I wear the poncho or not?!!! :smooth: So.........over to all you experts!!!

If it's not raining, then I would wait until you get close to the loading area before you put the poncho on.

Yes......but you don't get drenched on all of them.....and then you look silly wearing a bright yellow poncho when you get off!! :p So which ones are guaranteed a drenching and which ones a mild soaking and which ones a shower?

Completely Drenched: Popeye & Blutos

Fairly Soaked: Ripsaw

Barely wet - Fairly soaked: Jurassic Park (it reall does vary)

Poncho on JP will protect you from getting wet. On the other two, though, it only reduces it slightly.

Just remembered which one the Ripsaw was. Never managed to go on that one..thanks - I'll wear the poncho! What about at the other parks - if we diverse just a little?!

The wettest area in the two parks is the Curious George play area at USF. You can get completely soaked in there!

I work at staying dry, because we usually go in the off season and wet means cold. :( IMHO the wettest rides in UO are in Toon Lagoon - Popeye's Barges and Dudley's Falls. But neither compares to the the soaking you get on Journey to Atlantis at Sea World or on JPR at UH (they even sell $1 ponchos in the waiting line for it ). ;)

damo......

Actually, I was thinking "all" of them. All the wet rides from Disney to MGM to Universal/IOA.

Do you know you can get drenched even on "One fish two fish"!! It was hilarious....a woman and boy climbed into a car or is it a fish, anyway it moved right under all this water spouting over their heads and stopped there for nearly 5 minutes - by the time the ride started they were soaked through!! :D You would think they had been on the rapids!!!

I got fairly wet on Test Track once! The ride stopped for several minutes in either the "acid" or the "cold" chamber and our clothes were wet and we were freezing....I can't remember which chamber it was.....and I couldn't believe that the spraying itself didn't stop with the ride.

If you are sitting in the right (or wrong seat depending on how you look at it) you will get drenched on Kali River Rapids in the AK. If you are in the middle going into the geyser area or if you go down the waterfall backwards - they get a lot more wet than the other seats.

And on Splash - it depends on how heavy your log is and where you are sitting. We had nine going in the boat last Dec. They put two good sized men and a boy in the front seat and my husband in the seat behind them. They all got soaked. Except the young boy. He ducked and my husband - who had moved to the middle - got it all!!!

I know what you mean about the rapids - I tend to always wear the poncho for those. I have never done the test track - I never realised there was water involved in that one - thought it was just a racing car ride in the dark. Why did the car stop in the chambers - was that part of the ride or were you waiting for something?

Test Track has water??? I have not been on in a couple of years, but it didn't have any water areas, when I rode it.

Must be a water spray somewhere that the car sometimes stops underneath maybe. Tell me more about these chambers? I thought it was just an indoor racing track!!

I only rode Test Track once, about 4 years ago. It didn't really make a very big impression on me. Basically, it takes you through the process of testing a car to make sure it's road worthy. You go through, for example, a "heat test" where your car goes through a room that's very hot, and a "cold test" where your car goes through a room that's very cold. I think it's the "acid test" where you get water sprayed on you but, if I remember right, it was just a mist that you drive through quickly. Normally you would just get slightly damp, but I can see where you'd get pretty wet if you had to sit under the mist for a while because the ride broke down!

I don't remember the car going very fast except for one portion, the "speed test". It really wasn't all that interesting to me. Certainly not worth the 45 minutes we spent in line for it. I don't think they had a singles line at the time, or else we just didn't know about it. On my next trip, I'll probably only ride it if I have extra time and if the singles line is short.

I rode Kali once as well, but only had just a few drops of water on my shirt. I guess I was in the "lucky" seat (although I was hot and was hoping to get drenched) or else they've stepped up the Drench Factor since 1999.

I did get pretty wet in the wave pools at the water parks. ;)

The Test Track ride has three chambers - hot, cold and acid tests. One of them sprays a mist - probably the acid one, but I remember being freezing cold, so I wonder if it was the cold one.

The ride breaks down frequently and unfortunately we were in the chamber - for about 10 minutes - when it broke down. I had to get my camera covered and all. Our clothes were wet when we got out. Not soaked wet like the flume rides, but my shirt was sticking to me for sure and my hair was wet and my face was certainly wet.

It sure was cold going around the track afterwards!

When we got off the ride, we told them what had happened and they gave us the "back door fast passes" so we could ride again.

And I told the story just as a funny thing - it is certainly not supposed to be a "wet" ride!

And yes - they do have a single riders line now.

And you can trade with me anytime on Kali. I have been on it four times and have gone down the waterfall backwards each time........drenched. It's a family joke now.

kathleena-

Thanks for the info. WOW!!! Of all places for the ride to break down. Hopefully your camera did not get damaged or anything!!!!

Thanks for sharing.:D

Popeye is the wettest of the raft rides I've ever been on---they are my favorite type of ride!!!! Popeye took the lead in wettest ride when the wave came OVER MY HEAD into the boat!

I love it when that happens. As long as it's not to me!!!
