The week before Christmas

I'm so happy to have stumbled upon this forum. I used to get my Disney advice on another DL discussion board, but it's become a ghost town over there lately. This forum has been so helpful in planning our upcoming trip up to DL, and I've seen lots of crowd report posts for the week between Christmas and New Year's but nothing much on the week before Christmas, particularly Dec. 18, 19, and 20th. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough, so if there's already a thread about this particular week, I apologize. Just direct me in the right direction and I'd be most appreciative :)

This is a good question to ask on the main DL board.

Just be ready for crowds. Even though it's pre Christmas some people have that week off and will be there. So don't expect super crowds but keep in mind it will be crowded

I'm in the same boat as you and expecting it to be crowded. Most kids/schools will get out on the 17th and that is the day we are leaving and plan to be there the 18th, 19th and 20th as well (before our passes our blocked) I don't know if the locals passes are blocked that week we have deluxes but I am figuring on it being packed. I just hope it is not as bad as what I have read about thanksgiving week! EEK!!!!

We usually never go at such busy times but we just got back from 10 days in Disney WORLD and my dh was not able to go because of work and he really wanted a few days in Disney with the kids so we are gritting our teeth and taking our chances on their break. We are used to touring when it is crowded during spring break, veterans weekend and summer but this is usually one of the worst times so I am praying it is not miserable!

Good luck to us both!! Oh and see you there!! ;)

Whoops! I thought this was the main DL board. Which board is it that I should post my trip questions to? Still new and trying to navigate my way around here. Thanks for letting me know that :)

kelmac284: WOW!! Ten days at WDW and now DL! Lucky you!! I don't know if those are blocked dates either. We have the premium passes, so I don't usually keep track of the blocked dates. I guess I should start taking that into consideration. We've been premium pass holders since 2000, but we haven't been to the park within the two-week holiday break since the crowd started getting crazy, so I wasn't sure if we chose the lesser crowded week. We're used to the crowds, but I'm hoping it's not miserable either! Sending good luck pixie dust our way :tink: Maybe I'll bump into you in Pixie Hollow ;)

It's really a wonderful time to go, in my opinion. I've been multiple times right before Christmas and have been able to get done a ton of stuff! The awesome thing is that even though the HUGE after Christmas crowds haven't gotten there yet, they still have the maximum park hours and the full entertainment schedule going in full swing.

Now be aware, we're not talking like empty park here. You still need to arrive early, use FP and have a decent game plan. It just is not wall-to-wall crowds like you might experience the following week.

It won't be quite as crowded as the week after Christmas but it'll probably be a bit more crowded than a typical summer weekend. That sounds unpleasant but it's totally manageable if you maximize your fastpass collecting and take a break in the afternoon.
