I can't believe it:( This is my best friend's daughter. The wedding was supposed to be Valentine's Day, and the bride-to-be called her mom in tears last night saying the wedding was off. My friend is heartbroken:( She told her DD (who is almost 30) that she needed to work things out with her fiancee and not to plan on running home to mom whenever there is an argument. To complicate matters even more, there is a baby on the way- thus the rush for wedding and shower plans. Any good thoughts for my friend and her family would be appreciated!

That's a shame, Kteacher, but better now than a year from now. I have known several over the years where they were called off, after the showers and all that stuff, but it was always best. Never with a baby involved though, that sure makes it tougher. My very best, Kteacher, that whatever is best for all parties is what will be.

Oh no! Hopefully they can work things out, and this is just a case of pre wedding jitters.

We had a similar situation with friends over the summer. About a week before the shower was to be held the bride "called off" the wedding, and it was over something very silly which escalated into a fight. Luckily they got over it and went on to have a wonderful wedding, and more importantly, they are happy.

Like Dan said, whatever is best, will be. Pixie Dust on the way for them to work this out.

Well, if the bride called off the wedding, I would hope that she has a very good reason to do so. I would hope that she was not getting married just because she is expecting a baby. That is absolutely the wrong reason to get married, and does no one any good, especially not the baby.

Calling off a wedding should be a serious decision, and not one made because one's fiancee aggravated them over some argument. I would question the maturity and readiness to be married of someone who cancelled their wedding because of a minor argument.

I have known several people who have called off their weddings...one was about a week or so before...it was not an easy decision, nor was it one they took lightly, nor was it one made over a minor spat.

ITA.

I would echo Dan's sentiments: Better now than after a marriage.
That's a tough sitch. Hope everything works out for the best.
