Cast of Characters:

Linda - mom, 52, goes with the flow of her bossy, perfectionist of a daughter. Spent much of her trip sick. Left my dad at home
Christy - daughter, 26, the ultimate in over-planning and the biggest Disney fan in the family. Single.

My dining review scale: 1-5 stars *****

Part 1 - Pre planning & Friday
Part 2 - AK, DTD & Cirque de Soleil
Part 3 - Epcot
Part 4 - A bust of a day at the Magic Kingdom

MGM

This morning started out with fresh made chocolate chip pancakes from Sassagoula Floatworks, raisin bran for mom as the "dessert" and a milk. She was feeling well enough to eat! Praise the Lord! It won't be such a bad day afterall. She ate the Raisin Bran.

What we don't know about the weather won't hurt us.

It rained all.day.long.

Oh, so it's EMH morning hours this morning, and we got into MGM at 8am and proceeded directly to TOT.

So as we have established with Mission:SPACE, Mom and I are the biggest of chickens. Bwaak, bwaaak, bwaak. I decide that I WILL!RIDE!TOT!

And I walk right on. And the theming of this ride is amazing. And I ride it and highly enjoy myself. Did I enjoy myself enough to ride it again? Um, no. But I will ride it on future trips to WDW :)

Mom skips out. Remember? She's sick. And freefalling numerous times probably wouldn't help. Plus, it's a good excuse since she's a chicken too.

We do not ride Rockin Rollercoaster. Next time.

On to Muppetvision, which I love but is now in dire need of updating. Or maybe I've just seen it about 10 times too many :) Then to Sounds Dangerous (Which I enjoyed, to the dismay of many on these boards) and to the studio Backlot Tour. Mom and I were first in line, so we volunteered to help. We were the deck hands, which was fun to participate in. I only wish we had family there to take our picture! After participating, we stuck around for the next group to watch someone else go through the torpedoes that we just went through ( ;) ) and finished out the tour. Then onto Great Movie Ride. And we pronounced ourselves done with MGM for the day. At this point, it's only about noon :) Oh, but wait....we have to wait for the 1:00 showing of Lights, Motors, Action! The rain is still around but has lightened up. We decide to wait and make sure the show will go on.

While waiting, we eat lunch @ Backlot Express. Mom and I both had turkey sandwiches & light lemonade...she with the cranberry slaw, me with the fries. For dessert, we each get chocolate cake and take it with us to the stunt show. I can't remember the price, but figuring again around ~$10 each. ** (hey, what do you expect? It was just a turkey sandwich!)

So yes, LMA did go on, as it dried out enough for them to do it. The stunt show was fun and enjoyable, but was slow starting. The finale was definitely the best part of the whole show.

So as I said earlier, we were already done with MGM for the day. Our dinner reservation wasn’t until nearly 6:00p.m. So we decide to go back to the hotel again, and let my mom start packing up. Yes folks…it is getting nearer to the time of leaving the happiest place on earth. *sobs*

There was no swimming in the pool this afternoon because it was downright cool!

Blah blah blah, packing packing packing…I know you don’t care about this stuff :)

We did do a darn good job of fitting all of our newfound souvenirs into the luggage, if I say so myself. Since I wasn’t traveling home with Mom, and I had an extension of my vacation….she got to be the lucky one to take it all home.

I’ll realize on the way home from my cruise with my “smaller” (HEAVY) duffel bag that doesn’t roll that she had the better end of the deal. Oh well. Back to the review!

Dinner at Hollywood Brown Derby! A “signature dining” meal and worth 2 TS credits a piece. I give it ****. It was great, and our server, Hugh, indulged our questions about his country and his accent. He was easy on the eyes as well ;) But the bill was less than that of Kona Café, and I thought the food wasn’t quite as good as the night before. It’s only a SLIGHT difference, but it did make me wish I hadn’t spent 2 credits on it. I had the maine lobster and sweet corn bisque, mom had a salad. I had the grilled salmon with creamy polenta (excellent!!) and mom had the pan fried grouper (also very very good!) and asparagus. For dessert, she got the grapefruit cake and said it was really good (I had a bite and thought it was only OK, but I am not one for citrus desserts) and I had the double vanilla bean crème brulee. Awesome dessert! There were so many vanilla beans in the custard. Cost of meal ~ $79

Time for Fantasmic. Oh my goodness, the number of people already in the amphitheater! I was nervous about seating since we never were able to get a Fantasmic dining package. Guess what? We ended up front and center, 5th row back. Not bad, eh? Just…wear a poncho if you decide to sit there. It’s not pouring water, but you get a good bit of the mist from the water screen.

In the numerous times I have visited MGM, I have never seen Fantasmic. I don’t know why. But we absolutely loved it. Who would have ever thought of projecting cartoons up on a screen of misty water?!

And amazingly we were back at the hotel around 9:15 that night. The crowd does move out of there faster than you think they do. Climbing over the benches helped also ;)

So when we get back to POFQ, it’s time to plan tomorrow - our last day. Mom’s flight doesn’t leave until 5:15, so we have plenty of time for a morning park…..what to choose, what to choose……
