Looking at the stats, Derek Jeter, A-rod, Teixeira, Cano, and even Cervelli beat Gardner. He's promising, but he's young. When 34-36 year old men (A-rod and Jeter) have better stats than you and you're 10 years younger than them, you've got some work to do, haha.

Cervelli is not fair to judge because of much less games.
If you look at batting average for the regular everyday guys Gardy is third, ahead of A-Rod and Jeter. He led the regulars in OBP. Led the team in stolen bases. He was fourth in runs and second in walks. He did not have huge power numbers but he is not on the team for power reasons. His job is to get on base and use his speed to produce runs. If you look at the categories to do with that then he is one of the most productive guys on the team. He also tied for the AL lead in outfield assists so he is doing his job in the field too. And while A-Rod and Jeter are 10 years older, they have more experience so them doing better is fine and also, there is nothing wrong with being behind those two no matter what age because they are two of the best to ever play.
