I know I'm not the only one, at least I hope I'm not the only one!, that is not planning a vacation for this year.

We just have too many other things that need our $$$ this year and a vacation to WDW or anywhere else is just not high on the priority list.

So if you are NOT planning a big vacation this year, please sign in here. Misery loves company............;)

Besides we can plan our lawn projects, swingsets, car repairs, home updates, etc........

nope. Pretty much the same story as you. Our 2003 vacation was a new baby and our 2002 vacation was a finished basement.
2004 is a tight year because DH's company didn't give bonuses in December and they froze all raises at 2%.

If the year continues so positively though, DH's bonus should return in December of this year. That gives me hope for next year. :)

I'm trying to keep a positive outlook.

:p

We have a wedding in Houston in July. I won't be vacationing anytime soon

Unless a mircle happen Iwill not be going on vacation. AkA need to win the lottery.

I have bills that pile up. I am stilling looking for a better job. Because the one I have is letting me work 12 hours a week.

I will not be going on vacation until 2006 and beyond.

I have over 4 weeks of vacation and not planning on anything. Cleaning the house.

Husband lost his job last Oct. have a tax refund of $3,000 and will be paying expenses - now that really _________.

Anyway, I just come to these boards and dream and plan vacations in my head. There has to be better days a comin.

This sounds familiar. DH lost his job at Thanksgiving. A temp. agency placed him in a great job at Christmas, then he hurt his hand on the job. He was out of work for a week while he healed. Upon his return, he had a performance review. Later that morning he ws released by the company and the temp. agency has failed to find him another full-time/40 hour week position in three weeks. He applied for numerous positions in the past two weeks and today had three promising call-backs.
I canceled my vacation club and Christmas club that are deducted from my paycheck each week, in order to pay the rent one month. Our income tax refund is here and gone - paid all the bills update date, less a few that are wither only one month behind or on an arrangement.

This means our Thanksgiving trip to WDW is postponed. I thought maybe we could swing next February, but I don't think that is going to happen (looking at Pres. week, and judging by this years crowd reports I think I'll pass). I'm considering June 2005, but we'll see for sure once DH is permanently placed on a job and the bills continue to get paid. For now it's just a dream.

My mother invited me and DD to Wildwood for a weekend. I thought I could squirrel away a portion of our refund, but circumstances haven't allowed me the opportunity. Looks like another 3 weeks of hanging 'round the house.

Well I guess misery loves company eh?:p

We had planned a vacation to Cancun with my DB and his wife this past Feb 14th but DH's company has gone under bankruptcy protection and after him being with this company for nearly 33 years and the possibility of no pension money we may be lucky this time next year to find a cheaper place to live never mind any more vacations.:( This past 7 months have been the most stressful time of our 33 years of marriage but all we can do is pray and hope that better days are ahead for us.:sunny: I still can't believe this is happening to a major company like his. We never would have thought in a million years that his company would sink.

To all of you who have had to postpone or cancel your vacation.......hang in there and good luck for your next vacation.;)

We had our Disney trip all planned out for this year. We also had my SO's oldest son staying with us for a few months. Come to find out that during the last month he was here, he discovered that you could call these 900 numbers and talk to women who pretended to be interested in you. Luckily he left here to go back to school about four days before the bill came in. It ended up costing us close to $2k. The sad thing was that this trip was a make up trip for his younger brother (a HS graduation present) who couldn't go with us last time due to starting college.

GROG -- holy cow! I would be livid! Who is paying for his school? I know if I were his parent, I sure wouldn't be! Is he paying you back?

Hang in there, everyone. I always had fun with the challenge of finding ways to entertain myself for free when I was a poor student. Now's a good time to explore your own town. Of course I never felt like I could spend the time doing that when I was unemployed and worying about finding a job. It will get better; it always does.

No planned vacation for me either.

Well, DH and I are driving across the country over four days in June - is that a vacation? :p We don't have anything planned because we don't know what DH's leave will be like, if he gets any at all. We do have some weddings we hope to attend, but they're still just hopes.

However, a big group of my friends just decided we're all going to WDW in December 2006, so we have that trip to look forward to! :teeth:

Probably go back to DC with my BF for the 4th of July, but other than that... unless I get a job again and make some decent dough I'm afraid it may be yet another no vacation year. :(

 No vacation for us this year. We might get to the beach for a few nights, but that's about it. We had a HUGE WDW vacation last year, and then we both were able to return to WDW on our own for a few days last fall...I think 2004 will involve saving for our blow out WDW in fall 2005! And doing stuff around the house, etc. Oh well.

We do have a week at the beach planned for Easter Week (got great rates thru a friend), but other than that, all $$ go to getting this house ready to sell and moving to AZ later in the year.

When we get definite word of our move to AZ (probable, but 100% yet), I will be asking Tucson area DISers for major advice!!!

Supergro, I would post this as it's own thread if you want your sister to get lots a votes...a lot of people probably don't click this thread if they are going on vacation...

P.S. I voted for her!

Well, lets see, my hubby has a newer car (that we paid for in cash), we have a new front door, one bill is totally and completely paid off, and some school bills are paid off for me.

We are going to buy another car over the summer with cash as well.

So, the answer is no.. no big vacations for us.

No planed vacation here :( but on a more positive note it is because we will be getting air conditioning throughout the house. :D

well I had a vacation planned for the kids and I. DH started a new job in July so he is low man to bid for vacations. Not a problem, I have 3 weeks so I will use 1.5 weeks at christmas and the rest in the summer. Nope, my company has been sold and we have to use 1.5 of our vacation time before May 1. I need to take the rest at christmas because child-care is closed, so I will be taking spring break off this year. We thought about going someplace then, but we are going to stay home and redo their bedrooms. Bah humbug....
