On the Best of Bawb show on one of the clips they played Pete mentioned something called the way back time machine or something like that, where you can see what sites looked like way back when. Does anyone have the url to this site?

Here is a link to that site - http://www.archive.org/index.php - all you have to is type in www.wdwinfo.com in the field to see what the site looked like back to the year 2000.

Now - here's a cool hint - if you want to go back even further type in www.disneyinfo.com into the search field. That's the original url for the DIS and you will get even older pages.

Keep in mind that not all pages will look complete as the links to graphics may be gone - but you can see the design pretty well.

Haha. Very cool. I see that Pete always loved giving the weather report even back then. ROFL.

Ok, that site is pretty cool! I checked out the DIS and Disney . com so far.
Really amazing as to how far things have come! You don't think of it much, but it's really incredible to see how things have evolved and grown into what they are now. Makes you appreciate it too!

OK John, curiosity has gotten the better of me and I have to ask why the DIS changed the URL, if you don't mind.

I was going to ask the same question but was able to find it though a search engine.

Cool! Also interested in why the URL change. Is it because the site's main focus is WDW? :confused3

That's such a cool website. Thank you!

You guys are soooooo nosey :lmao:

I am not at liberty to share the info as to why the url change. Pete may be in a better position to do so and that would be up to him - but please don't bug him about it - if he wants to discuss it he will.

Thanks for understanding.

Can we bug you, then? About anything? Just to bug you?:butterfly  :dance3: :hippie:

Cool!! I had forgotten about that fun site! Funny to look back at the differences.

I got to snooping on a particular day in 2001 since I knew we were down there at the parks for our 10th anniversary. I found the profile pages for the webmasters and forum moderators that where here then (and many are still around with us!) I found Bob's page when he was a Forum Manager...kind of a fun look back: http://web.archive.org/web/20010617200737/www.wdwinfo.com/disteam/wilderness.htm

:surfweb:

Oh, upon further looking, I guess this maybe isn't any different than the profile for him on the current boards- I guess maybe some things change, and some things stay the same. ;)

I hope I am not stepping on toes... but more or less it is an internet domain naming rule as to why the term "disney" cannot be used, based on trade mark and stuff like that... in fact "disney" is a term specifically named in a request for comments on the icann.org web site which oversees domain naming rules.

I can give you the citation of the documents, but it is even more boring than this explanation.

oh and there is a ton of case law on this stuff when it comes to how copyrights, trademarks and stuff have to be treated... that gets even more boring.

I figured it was the "there are two "r's" in xerox" thing. I was hoping for something more saucy. ;)
