Looking for a sitdown lunch in the Magic Kingdom or nearby. Options are a little limited based on what I can still get an ADR for, but The Wave is one option that would work for my date. Haven't heard much chatter about it, so I was just curious what people thought about it. TIA!

Many people like it. I've seen many similar threads in the last few months alone.

I've only had their terrific breakfast buffet.

Wife and I had dinner there last trip and really enjoyed it. Food was much better quality than some of the other restaurants (certainly better than San Angel Inn, Rose & Crown, The Plaza or Crystal Palace) and they had a really diverse menu. The atmosphere wasn't anything to write home about but we would eat there again.

We stay at Bay Lake / Contemporary and typically avoid The Wave.

We prefer Kona or Grand Floridian Cafe.

But if you want some antics (like 50's Prime Time, but different), Whispering Canyon is another option.

Inside the Magic Kingdom, The Plaza serves sandwiches and takes ADR's.

We had lunch there our MK day and really enjoyed it. DH had fish tacos and I had crab cakes. The kids had rainbow grilled cheese and pork tenderloin. The crab cakes were fantastic, everything else was very good. Very calm atmosphere was nice after a morning in MK. Service was a bit slow, but the table next to us was a group of ladies who worked for Disney, in what I surmised was some capacity in parking capabilities. We could hear their entire conversation and it was super interesting ;)

. . . entree:.. Lamb Shank, Pork Tenderloin
. . . dessert:. Trio Dessert(s)

NOTE1: On the check-in level of Contemporary, past Front Desk, then left. The dining
entrées are a bit overpriced; service can be spotty, and food quality was only average.
Unfortunately, nothing to write home about or that demands a second visit. One problem
is food doesn't always come out as ordered, or hot. The restaurant is a quiet place to
eat as it doesn't seem to draw the loud kids or uncouth adults. To us, it is an OK place
to eat dinner, but nothing that rates a rave. The menu has American-type dishes versus
something abstract or exotic. We thought Lamb Shank and locally-sourced Pork Tenderloin
were very good, but were displeased with Oven Roasted Chicken and Beef Tenderloin. Trio
Desserts, with three samples on same plate, are pretty tasty. The good side is that the
bar is comforting and welcoming; a nice place to throw a few back. The eatery doesn't
exude "Disney", but atmosphere is pleasant.
.
NOTE2: Although mediocre for dinner, the breakfast buffet is one of WDW's best kept
secrets for both price and quality, the other being Trails End in Fort Wilderness.

.
NOTE3: We are going to see the last showing or Osborne lights. We will go the
2nd or 3rd week of November, when Blackout Dates do not apply for us. We
will eat at The Wave for a late lunch, then travel to DHS via bus (monorail
to MK, then bus to DHS). So, YOU KNOW the eatery has to have a decent lunch
for us to plan ahead to visit. Also, usually, no AR is needed EVERA for lunch,
which makes for a good at-the-last-moment choice.

I like it. Its tucked away in the Contemporary and typically only those who hunt it out or stumble across it dine there. It's typically a must-do for us.

Gives you a reason to visit the CR as well...good food and a unique place
