The Wave.....wow! :)

Good to hear. We have dinner reservations in October. Sounds like it might not be best for entree sharing though? I was thinking my husband and I could share an appetizer and then the beef tenderloin?

I am looking at the menu on the official website. It appears the dessert menu has recently changed. Is it no longer served as a trio?

Glad to read these reviews. Dh and I are going next month. Just wondering where is it exactly located. I dont know if we will go there by the studios bus or take the monorail from the MK. Havent finalized our early park plans yet.

Anyone have any apps they enjoyed?

We went there this week and loved it as well. My husband got the seafood app for 2, it came with shrimp tacos and crab cakes. He said it was excellent. He had the salmon for dinner and I got the filet, both were great. Kids got kids meals and liked them as well.

NOTE1: On the check-in level of Contemporary, past Front Desk, then left. The dining entrées are a bit overpriced; service can be spotty, and food quality was only average. Unfortunately, nothing to write home about or that demands a second visit. One problem is food doesn't always come out as ordered, or hot. The restaurant is a quiet place to eat as it doesn't seem to draw the loud kids or uncouth adults. To us, it is an OK place to eat dinner, but nothing that rates a rave. The menu has American-type dishes versus something abstract or exotic. We thought Lamb Shank and locally-sourced Pork Tenderloin were very good, but were displeased with Oven Roasted Chicken and Beef Tenderloin. Trio Desserts, with three samples on same plate, are pretty tasty. The good side is that the bar is comforting and welcoming; a nice place to throw a few back. The eatery doesn't exude "Disney", but atmosphere is pleasant.

NOTE2: Although mediocre for dinner, the breakfast buffet is one of WDW's best kept secrets for both price and quality, the other being Trails End in Fort Wilderness.

The Wave has been our "go to" restaurant for the last several years (we eat there most trips, and go to WDW twice a year). In early June we had a horrible experience. It was bad enough that we actually tried to find the manager to no avail (you would think that sending back an item twice before asking for it just to be removed from the check might have flagged him/her to follow up, but no). Our food was poor, the service was abysmal, our server's knowledge of the menu (both food and bar) was non existent, and my silly pet peeve was even ticked-- seriously if the restaurant is less than 30% full, why seat someone right by the kitchen service door? I emailed guest services after we went back home. Guest services was very kind and forwarded our concerns to the manager. She was awesome, to the point where we are going to try again next month. She even gave me her cell phone number to follow up with her after our next visit. I really hope the next dinning experience goes well, we've love the convenience and food/service quality in the past.

We love it too! We can usually secure a reservation pretty easily and BLT is our home resort...makes it easy to pop down there and or walk over from MK...Perhaps we should all keep this quiet! :yo-yo:
I've raved about The Wave in the past. Had a really great dinner there and and a couple of really nice breakfasts. But, we also had a terrible experience there one lunch. Dining room was packed by noisy conference goers and service was terrible, as the one waitress was overwhelmed with the huge conference table. The atmosphere wasn't the same as the time we had dinner. Just seemed very busy and business-like. A little bit of a mixed bag, but would try it again.
we are going for breakfast

I keep thinking about going there for breakfast...would people recommend it?
We went there are last 2 trips for breakfast on our departure day and it was excellent! Exactly what other posters are saying only at breakfast. The only reason we'really not going this trip is our departure day is late Sunday and we want to hit the brunch at Cali Grill. Scored a great ADR for the first seating!

This thread makes me even more excited about eating here in a few weeks. Snagged a reservation for dinner before I head out for the Star Wars fireworks.

Thanks for the review! We'll be trying it for the first time on our upcoming trip, and I'm excited to hear it's a restful retreat.

I ate at The Wave today for dinner, and it was another excellent meal.

The food was excellent, my server was on point, and the place was dead in the beginning and never got over half full while I was eating there. This was between 5:00pm to a little after 6. For the first 20 minutes it was me and two other tables. By the time I left it was just about half full. It's just one of those undiscovered gems I guess. I have yet to have a bad meal while eating there and will be going back again on my next trip, if not later in the week.

The Wave is always a must do for us - especially the Breakfast - You can order off the menu or get the buffet. I love their buffet - while it does not have the variety of Crystal Palace or some of the other WDW buffets - the food is always fresh and plentiful and great flavor. As others have said - it's nice and quiet - a true respite from the hustle of MK.

Thanks for this. We had a fab meal at the Wave in 2011/12. I wasn't going to put it on our list this time, but, now, well, maybe, it's so hard to choose!

Thanks everyone for the wonderful reviews, & pics as well...

We also have an ADR scheduled for our last night on our upcoming trip this fall, and was teetering on whether or not to keep it or ditch it.... Well, as they say on the football field---->" Upon further review, we have a 1st down" And hopefully many more afterwards....

Once again Thanks folks.:thumbsup2

The Wave is one of our staples! I have a highly specialized diet and they serve options like grass-fed burgers for lunch, organic green beans, organic eggs, and other local offerings.
In speaking with the chef, she was definitely on the same page with me for healthy eating and was well versed in my needs.
I can always relax when I go, knowing I can find something I can actually eat!! Trust me...it's a special treat! :flower3:
We eat all organic, non-gmo, grass fed, no hormones/antibiotics, try to do gluten free when possible but only real whole foods not gluten free made with all sorts of crazy stuff. We are going down in January and are searching like crazy for places we can eat we mainly plan on whole foods. We are going to the wave do you have any other suggestions?

It's VERY hard to find organic foods in WDW. I recently found out that Frontera Cocina at Disney Springs serves antibiotic/hormone free chicken and steak.
There is also a food truck at Disney Springs that has grass-fed burgers. Wolfgang Puck Express used to have antibiotic free roasted chicken and served local produce. I'm not sure if that is still the case, but it's worth checking
After that...it's fairly slim unless you hit the signature restaurants. We've had success with steak and wild caught salmon at California Grill at Contemporary and Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge.
Hopefully as time passes and organic gains popularity Disney will follow. They are really good to keep up with trends. Healthy eating in our family is for life!!

Shhh dont tell people

Its our favourite place, its always easy to get an ADR, food and service is top notch and they sell my favourite wine there too. I honestly dont know how its not one of the hardest to get ADR's. Its a great little place.
