I already booked TTS and have not seen very good comments about it. I am thinking of switching to the WAVE at the contemporary. What do you think?

The Wave was my favorite dinner last September! It was a complete shock because we walked up there.
I got the cinnamon rubbed pork and it was melt in your mouth delicious. Everything was perfect!

We like TTS. (In fact, it is my DS's "must do" event of every trip).

DH and I went to The Wave for our trip last week. Here is my review from my Dining Review thread:

The Wave:
Well, DH and I had a special dinner planned at Citricos for just the 2 of us while my parents took the kids to TRex in Downtown Disney.

But .... we waited at the Contemporary for almost 30 minutes for a resort monorail ... but no go! Finally, the attendents told us the monorails weren't running (aka: broken down) but we could get a bus to Poly or GF at the lobby. Well, the lobby was a mad house of people trying to get to their desired places. DH and I realized we were never going to get to GF for our Citricos ADRs. We checked with California Grille and The Wave. Both restaurants said there was room for us to eat at the lounge/bar area and we could order from the full menu. The Wave said they also had room in the dining room itself. DH didn't like the looks of the menu at the Cali Grille  so we went to eat at The Wave.

Now, I have to say that I was really not excited about this .. I would have preferred Cali Grille and didn't particularly like the looks of the menu at the Wave. But ... we had a seat at the bar and the bartenders were out of this world helpful, nice, and accomodating. DH had a Miller Light while I had the Tropi-Glow Cocktail ... very yummy. The appetizers on the bar menu looked yummy so we were hoping to try a few of them with dinner.

We were seated just 5 minutes after starting our drinks at the bar and were walked to a table for 4 nestled in a back room. It was quiet and dim (no windows ... also no cellphone service for me).

DH noticed the appetizers from the bar were not also on the main menu and asked if we could order them anyway. No problem.

We split the Lump Crab Meat and Black Bean Nachos (from the bar menu). These were served cold and were very yummy! DH and I both said we wished it came with a few more chips so we could scrape up the rest of the toppings!
I highly recommend this appetizer!

I ordered the Linguine but asked for no clams. Again, the staff was very accomodating and they gave me extra shrimp in place of the clams. The linguine was delicious. The shrimp were perfectly done. The chunky tomato broth was fantastic! Again, I'd recommend this! (And would like to go back there and get this again!!!)

DH ordered 2 appetizers as his meal (one off the bar menu, one off the dining room menu). He ordered beef skewers which he said were good, and the lettuce cups filled with chicken and spices, he also enjoyed this.

Finally, we decided to share a dessert. The dessert menu is organized in trios of different tastes. We decided to try the No Sugar Added Temptation. It was amazing!!! There was a small version of three delicious selections: creme brulee, berries with cream, and a mint chocolate mousse. WOW!

So, what started off looking like a crappy, ruined evening, turned in to a wonderful meal and a happy accident ... it is what DH and I call "Disney Magic."

We just returned from WDW Tuesday staying at the Bay Lake Towers .. Our last evening we decided to stick close to the resort and had dinner at the Wave .. EXCELLENT .. very friendly service and food was very good! We both had the pasta dish with clams and shrimp ...perfectly cooked seafood and the tomato broth was very tasty. Pasta was cooked to perfection. I would not hesitate to book dinner here ..

There aren't any windows, and it's a large dining venue, but tables are nicely spaced. It was a great choice for us after 12 nights at Disney...we were tired and didn't want to fight any more crowds .... prior to eating we watched the fireworks from bay lake towers top of the world lounge ...it really was a perfect evening for the ending of a great trip!

Enjoy!

We love this place, ate there in March 09 and Aug 09 and the meal was out of this world..click on my links to see pics

We had dinner at the Wave in September. I didn't care for it. It's very cool-looking, but food and service were meh. I reviewed in more detail in the link in my signature. As for kids, I would take them there if they were fairly mature and behaved well in restaurants. If more rambunctious or in need of entertainment to keep them happy, then I wouldn't. It is a kind of fancy place, and tables are close together - not much room if the kid needs to be able to move around.

We LOVE this place. It has been awesome every time we've gone - we actually ate there 3 times on our last trip we enjoyed it so much.

To the other poster who asked about children - I have a 3 and 6 year old and they were fine. The waiter was actually playing along with them and asking them mickey trivia.

I say go and try it!

Just came back from WDW last Saturday and while I can't speak about dinner, we did have a really great lunch there with friends last Wednesday. I highly recommend the black bean chili appetizer and the Rueban sandwich... the half toasted multi-grain bread was really good!

Service was very good too.. Hubby had the crabcake and he enjoyed that as well. If dinner is anything like lunch, you'll love it!

best wishes,

pamela :)

WE have been to the Wave once for dinner and a couple times for apps/drinks in the lounge area. WE love it. The food is fresh and flavorful.
I would definately try it if you never have.

We can't wait to go back!

Not sure what "meh" is, but I would have to agree. We ate there last August and didn't have a great impression. Our entrees were all good but the desserts were a let down for us. Add to that extremely slow and indifferent service and we left a little disappointed.

The menu doesn't sound good but it is fabulous. We ended up there 3 times and always pleased.

If you chose TTS because it sounded good to you then you should stick with it. I ate there on a whim in October and was pleasantly surprised. Everything I ate was very tasty and the service was fantastic!!

We went in June and the service and food were wonderful. It is kid friendly- not cartoony/themed but not fancy or stuffy. We had our kids and there were lots of other kids there as well. It is also a nice, quiet break from the parks.
Jenlynn- We had a lot of monorail trouble last week, too. I don't know if they were being overly cautious or what, given the accident and then the break down they experienced, but we were stuck in it a few times!

The Wave was actually one of our favorite meals--but I too was a little apprehensive to try it at first based on the menu...but I'm so glad I did!!

First off, the staff were extremely kind to us and went out of their way to make us feel special...we started off with a lovely chat with the host and hostess and then our waitress, Renee was just as wonderful.

She gave us complimentary champagne in celebration of our anniversary...that was a nice touch...

The meal was OUTSTANDING...

My boyfriend ordered the cinnamon rubbed pork...amazing...the greens served with it tasted like they soaked in ham stock for days...truly delicious...

I had the braised lamb shank...one of the best meals I've ever had...the lamb was fall off the bone tender...

I couldn't decide on dessert so she let me mix and match the trios...but then she also brought me a few of my second choices too! Desserts were delicious...I highly recommend the no sugar creme brulee.

Along with the great food and staff...the dining room was beautiful...very warm and cozy!

The Wave has become a must do for us!!

Most.

Underrated.

Restaurant.

:)

I agree. I will be reviewing it shortly, but it was our last TS meal of the trip and it was definitely the best meal of the trip, food and service. I will caveat that we are from Metro Boston, where the food is good and fairly cosmopolitan. I found it to be quite kid friendly (but our kids are past the running around in restaurants stage) and our server deserved every cent of the 25% we tipped him.

I'm a bit scared to say too much though, I'm afraid it will make it hard to get a reservation next time. :rolleyes1

Apparently I'm the only one who can't figure out what TTS (the other restaurant mentioned) is.

And to the OP - we thought the Wave was very nice - I'd definitely go back there.
