This past Sat. night we tried The Wave at the CR. I was a bit skeptical about it, not hearing too much but thought we'd give it a try. When we walked in we were greeted by a nice friendly CM. It was just myself and 10 yr old dd. We went over the bar and I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio which wasn't on the wine list as there were no Pinto Grigio's on the list but the bartendar said she had one. It was quite nice. DD had a water.:thumbsup2 We waited about 10 minutes for our 7:00 ADR.

We were then seated by a fairly unfriendly host. Not sure if it was his first night or what but he didn't say a word to us and he first took us to the wrong section. We actually toured around the restaurant toward the back (not the first time we were sat in the "back" of a restaurant this trip). However it did work to our advantage as our server was awesome..Jimmy, he was quite a character but very friendly and familiar with the menu.

He recommended the arctic char which came with a vegetable stew (consisting of corn, edamame and green beans) It was actually a nice "light" mix. I also went with the seasonal mixed greens salad which was a nice sized salad with a nice variety of veggies and very light as well.

We started with a wheat type of bread and butter with hawaiian salt. It was very good. DD got a kids salad and the grilled chicken with potatoes.

The winner of the night though (and of the trip) was definitely the arctic char. It was just delightful. It was cooked just right and the perfect portion. Having only had arctic char once or twice before, both occasions not cooked right (at a local chain restaurant) I was never impressed with it, but Jimmy highly recommended it and I'm sure glad I tried it. He explained it as a cross between salmon and trout and he was right "on" with that. It was served with a cilantro chutney but it didn't need it although it was a rather tastey garnish! DD even loved the arctic char! This is of course the fish of the day, so they don't always have it. I hope they do on one of our future trips as I will definitely be returning here.

We topped off our dinner with a kid's sundae and a wonderful trio of "tastes"...yes "tastes", tiny portions, just perfect sizes to satisfy any type of dessert craving you have without feeling like you're going to blow up when you leave!:lmao: I had the trio with chocolate mousse, lemon cornbread and yogurt with blueberry compote. As a "chocoholic" I actually loved all 3!! I left feeling totally satisfied and not totally full. I actually felt like I ate a healthy and satisfying meal! We also appreciated Jimmy's recommendations and conversation! He was quite informative and entertaining! He said he previously worked at the Concourse steakhouse and moving to the Wave was the quickest restaurant turnover for the staff in WDW history!

I will try to get some photos up shortly.
