The walking dead amc #2

I must say though.....I don't know if the makeup artist that did Glenn's eyeball reads the comics or is otherwise a fan of the show outside of work.....BUT.....can you imagine being the worker/fan that's chosen to do the eyeball?!?!

UGH - NO!

I really thought it would be Glen if you look back, he's like a cat with nine lives. He finally used them up.

That is what dh said while we were watching. "Looks like Glenn has finally used up all his lives." It made the loss a little easier to bear. I sure did like him though.

I'm a bit late here but I'm one who was very disturbed by this episode. Sure, we had a good idea of who we were going to lose and I was ready for that. I was very familiar with the scene from the graphic novel and knew how it would happen. But never did I ever imagine that they would depict it so clearly and violently. I thought there would be some allusion to what happened. Not close ups.

I thought the same thing. I knew we were going to find out who died but I didn't think they'd actually show it in such graphic detail. I know this show is gory but even I was surprised!

IMO they had to deliver the gore in the premier. People were mad and were criticizing the show for not killing off "main" characters. They would kill off minor characters and serve them to the viewers as "big" deaths when they were not (Deeana, Denise, Jessie etc). Can you imagine the outrage if Negan killed Aaron or Rosita? People would be out of their minds yelling about how they made a big deal and just killed off minor characters that nobody really cares about. They had to deliver a big death (or two). And it had to be brutal or people would be saying the wimped out.

I am fine with them killing off a main character. I have no issue with that at all. TBH I sometimes forgot Glen was still around. I just wasn't prepared to have to look at smashed in heads for much of the premiere LOL.

I hear you. I really had a hard time when he first smashed Abe, the fact that he was still alive and talking after being struck full force by Lucille really gutted me. I couldn't get it out of my head. By the time he attacked Glenn, I knew to cover my face.

I do think they had to do it in this gory way though. Otherwise they would be accused of "ruining" an iconic scene and wimping out on showing Negans full range of horror. Fans have been grumbling for so long about the show being too "safe" that I think they wanted to serve up something so gruesome it would satisfy the hard core fans.

I honestly did not find the premiere anymore graphically disturbing than anything else we have seen on the other 6 seasons of the TWD...... what got me was the sound effects!

If you watch it without the sound it's really not that bad but the sound effects were insane and added just that realustic gory whack/slurp sound as the bat went in and out of each victim's head. o_O:badpc:

I think the fact that Glenn had been with the show since the beginning and had such a future in the making and Abraham was becoming much loved too, these deaths made it so much harder for some fans as they figure the "stars" of a show aren't supposed to be killed off. Hard to accept, especially when there were others who could have gone who do not really have a storyline of interest...yet.

BUT we as fans would have been royally ticked off if they hadn't adhered to the comic on this one.

I know they do not follow the comics on alot of things which I love because it is unpredictable on what will or will not happen like it did in the comic.

I think it is more of a healthy respect of each other

Carol seems impressed that King Ezekiel is doing the same thing that she does deep down inside

Make sure others are cared and provided for

I like Ezekiel and LOVE Shiva. Carol though is driving me batty. Glad he called her out on all her fakeness.

I really like the actor playing Ezekiel. He is very charismatic! I also liked the guy Jerry, his right hand man. Carol was good last night, but I am confused as to where she is. Where is that little house? Is she close to the Kingdom? I think she is crazy for leaving, give me the nice safe place with lots of food, clean laundry and movie nights. LOL!!!

While I liked the episode, I really wanted to find out what happened with our core group after the night with Negan. How they were feeling, adjusting, mourning etc.

Same here. I missed Rick & Co. last night.

I didn't like Ezekiel at first.. I was like, is he for real? Who talks like that?? But then when he told his story to Carol and started talking like a normal person, I came around.

I like the Ezekiel actor too. Glad he is so good because I was expecting a big guy like Abraham since that is how he seems in the comics, as does Negan. When I saw Ezekiel standing next to the boy, Morgan is teaching, and they were same size I was bummed. But the actor is so good and charismatic....and funny on TTD...that I don't mind he wasn't big like I imagined he'd be.

I really liked last nights episode. I think that Carol is by the Kingdom - close enough to be slightly protected but enough on her own to be alone. I like that Ezekiel called her out last night -he is smart and I like what he is giving those folks - security. I also like that he is giving pork fed on walkers to the Saviors!!! I knew something was up but it was better than I thought :-) I hope Morgan stays with the Kingdom - it seems really good for him. It kind of shows me that Rick's group could be the bad guys, afterall. Rick can't provide what the Kingdom can KWIM?

I liked last night's episode also. I was not ready to go back to Rick's group yet and be sad all over again. I was thinking "what the heck" when Carol first met Ezekiel, but as the episode went on, I liked him more and more. Carol was hilarious when she first met him :rotfl2: I am looking forward to watching TD (DVR'd) tonight and see more of the actor that plays him.
