The wait for FEA if you RD Epcot at IG....

I'm trying to decide how I want to do my FP+ for our upcoming trip to WDW. We will be staying at BWV when we do Epcot. I was thinking of doing RD at the IG and doing FEA first. Then hitting Soarin and FP+ for TT. How long would the wait at FEA be by the time we hit it at 9 am? Would I have a bit of a head start since I'm coming in from the IG.

I have rope dropped FEA and was able to walk on twice in a row with zero wait time. I was early enough to be second in line at the tapstiles.

We came into Epcot from the IG last Wednesday after rope drop. By the time we activated our tickets and walked to FEA it was 9:30 am. We waited 35 minutes for standby. The queue is pretty entertaining once you get inside.

Entertaining?
I have to say that the queue for FEA has only one very short little "detail."
Other than seeing that small detail (which takes about 45 seconds to see) the rest of the queue is a standard serpentine
corral of guests shuffling back and forth through the long line.

Did you see something else?

We rope dropped FEA from the IG at the beginning of February. We didn't walk particularly quickly (several senior members of our group) and ended up waiting about 15 minutes. Not bad at all.

My kids liked it :) They liked that they could touch the "store" goods by the outside door, there were signs to read, pictures to look at ... I agree the part inside in the "dark" is less entertaining but at least you can see the ride loading so it doesn't feel as long.

Rather than start a new thread I will just post here since I have similar question.

Our plan is to RD at International Gateway and hit FEA first. My question is are we better off going to Soarin (standby) next and fastpassing Test Track? Or vice versa, go to Test Track (standby) and fastpassing Soarin? Which would most likely have the minimal wait. My family would be "walking" swiftly to each so I'm hoping we would be one of the first few on FEA...

Your help is appreciated...

Since TT breaks down a lot it’s usually recommended to FP TT.

Apparently, there is no particular advantage when going to FEA from either entrance. The Touring Plans folks did a video about a month ago testing out the various entrances and routes for the 3 main rides at Epcot. For FEA, the two groups arrived within 30 seconds of each other.

I rope dropped FEA twice this year in September and January from the IG while staying at BC. We walked briskly each time we went, and only waited for 10 minutes on both occasions.

To me it seems to depend on which gate opens first- back or front. Maybe they are supposed to open at the same time, but they didn’t on the day we were there.

Week before last we were near the front of the line at the back entrance to Epcot and waited for twenty minutes before they finally let us past the CMs ( it was around 8:55) and by the time we got to The Land Pavilion(and we walked fast) there were already mass crowds pouring into the pavilion. A total sea of humanity. Definitely not within 30 seconds of each other. We were two of the first from the back and hundreds and hundreds were in front of us at Soarin’.

That day, the front gate must have have had several minutes of advantage time over the back gate. It was a disappointment for us. Soarin’ was already a 25 minute wait (posted 10, but it was 25 minutes before we were on), and ten minutes after we got in line, it was a posted 50 minute wait.

I imagine that FEA would be the same. The back gate people were disadvantaged that day by the timing of entry. Makes me wonder if they randomly switch it up, or if the back gate CMs just weren’t communicating well that day.

Come to think of it, maybe it’s the new procedure where people are allowed into the front of the park to a certain point. Maybe that always gives the front of the park the advantage now? I just know what I saw on the day we were there and the back entrance was not an advantage.

I would go to TT first after FEA...Entering the park from IG is a lot less congested and easier to get around than coming in the main entrance.
