The original show...you were in the time period of Zeus (the good guy), and Poseidon (the bad guy).

Instead of Taylor, you were met by a wise old man who stood in the middle of the first room on a small "stage" and showed you the history of Zeus and Poseidon.

I dont' remember all of the details, but the key part was in the final scene, you arrived in the open areas with all of the waterfalls as if you've joined in the world of Poseidon underwater, and at the end, the walls came down to make it look like you were back in the first room. The effect was much more clever and people loved that part.

I don't know what made them change it to the newer one, but it's a bit too corny for me (especially Darkennon )

Our family went there 2 days ago for the first time.
I agree it's a total cheese-fest and way over the top--Dorkaonon--that's funny, I'll have to tell my son. He was going around quoting the dialogue the rest of the day.
We waited like 45 minutes (ride wasn't "broken" though--said a TM "what would make you say that?!" was the actual quote) His act was almost as good as the actual show.
Anyhoo, I didn't know the vortex wasn't functioning (aka broken) so we were lucky I guess that we got to see it. Pretty cool
I agree that expanding WWOHP would be a better use of the space. Of course, I don't have any sentimental attachment to anything so that's easy for me to say, right?

We went to Poseidon's adventure tonight and found the vortex to be the best part. Well aside from the fire at the end cause it was pretty chilly outside!

We felt the same way! We just got back last night and saw it twice while we were there (the first Taylor was much better than the second one - the guide makes a big difference). It was nice to get some additional heat!

I was surprised at how much difference there was. I would have thought it was very scripted. Sounds like you may be right about the second one.
