The usual how many days? But for my family

Okay so I know there are numerous threads out there with how many days and most people seem to think 2 is enough but I am not sure.

We are going late Sept - right when the hours change and the Halloween nights start. IOA closes at 7pm and US closes at 5pm. It will be DH, myself, MIL (I truly love her) and DD10 and DD2. We will be flying but renting a car. Staying at Kidani for 5 nights and PR for 3 nights.

I initially planned on using our transfer day to go to WDW park or DTD and then checking into PR and relaxing for the later afternoon/eve. We would have 2 full days at the IOA/US and then leave late morning our last day (no park.)

But the parks close early in Sept and we will be there over a weekend and during the HHN event. Not sure even with front of the line passes, we will have enough time without feeling rushed/overwhelmed. We have a 2 year old who wants to stop at everything little thing, a 10 year old who will want some older rides (loves HP!) and DH and I who will want the hard core rollercoasters too. My MIL will be a huge help but I am still undecided. I know we could always use the day at Disney but I kinda want to enjoy the US area. We haven't been there in 11 years (before kids) and have never stayed onsite.

What do you think US fans? Is 2 days enough or should I shoot for 3.

2 should be fine with the low crowds in Sept. If your kids like to take nice long pool breaks in the afternoon to escape the heat, 3 might be better.

I normally say that three days works best. We have gone for two and did not enjoy it as much because I felt more rushed. With three days, I was able to take my time to see/do everything I wanted and some of my favorites more than once! Since the park closes early as well, that extra day will help!

Normaly we stay four, but during that time of the year three should be enough. We enjoy taking our time while at Universal (even with the Express Pass), so 4 seems to be the best. Our upcoming trip (this wed.!), we are not doing Disney so we are doing a full 7 nights, which we have never done before. 7 is going to be a little long, but it will allow us time to do things we never do (like eat a few meals on Citywalk, see Blue Man Group, etc.).

Overall, pick 3 days at the parks, and make sure you get the park-to-park tickets. This way when the Studios closes at 5, you can head over to IOA for another 2 hours to grab a butterbeer

Thanks. I think we are going to do the 3. We will take turns who takes the 2 year old back for a midday nap and if it is really hot, we all might go back and swim.

We are only in orlando for 4 days this year and are doing 3 1/2 days which is fine but we normally do 7 days when we are there for a week and some think 7 days is way too much but we love Universal and never get bored while we are there

i go for 8 days and don't have enough time there.
and i'm there solo.



opening weekend for hhn includes friday and saturday.
after that, all sundays will be on the list as an event night.


saturday would be the only day you might encounter crowds.
or maybe not, as opening weekend for hhn is usually lighter than the other dates in the event.
if there are crowds and you are at the studios, hop to IOA at that point.


since you are staying on site, the express pass will help you avoid any crowds you might encounter. (when you say PR, i am assuming you mean RPH.)


2 or 3 days will cover what you want to do and see.
you have an age range of peeps in your group and might go at a slower place.
you will probably enjoy some of the shows which take up time.
animal planet is kewl with all ages.

the lual is on saturday evenings, something the entire family might enjoy. it is held at the rph. hotel and park guests can reserve for that dinner show.
go there after you spend time in the parks.

it is a dinner show and i feel it has better food, show and set up than the polynesian one at the motherland.

do the parks in the day and spend time at the pools in the evening.
pool hop to the other hotel pools.

just show your room key to get towels at the hotel pool you go to.
shower rooms available to change in.


start with a 2 day park ticket.
you can always upgrade to a third day at the price of a 3 day.

that is cheaper than buying a one day ticket just for your last day in case you choose to linger another day for the parks.

you go to guest services before you leave the park on day 2 and upgrade the tickets if you decide at that point another day would be needed.



lots of peeps are happy with a 2 day stay for the hotel and parks.
some find out after they are there, they need more time.

you can't go wrong either way.
