The use of SAB in the past and in the future

I have two questions reguarding SAB.

1. First I think I read somewhere when Disney was selling the Boardwalk villas they told the buyers that they would be able to use SAB and has since taken that away from them.

2. If that is so, I do believe Disney could take SAB away from re-sale buyers at some point. If they were to do that, would that make all re-sale contracts for the Beach Club almost worthless. Thanks

1. I don't think that is true. There was a BWV lounge that was available to members for a while, and that was removed for Disney's use only. But it wasn't part of the contract, just a perk type item, from what I understand. Like the lounge at BLT.

2. I love Beach Club and BCV - and I would stay there if SAB didn't even exist. We don't use the pool that much when we stay there - maybe two times in a week. We like BCV because of proximity to Epcot and DHS, and we're not crazy about BWV. So I would say that assumption is erroneous (that it would be worthless).

Sadly, if it isn't in your contract, it could change. Will they make such a change, IMO probably not but Disney has made several changes that I didn't think that they would make.

The POS for each DVC resort lists swimming facilities as part of the amenities to be provided. As such, all BCV owners--regardless of how points were acquired--pay for the upkeep and staffing of the pool and have a right to use the amenity.

I'll stop short of saying that it would be legally impossible for DVC to limit access. However doing so would require a lot of legal machinations beyond merely creating a new rule on a whim. And those machinations would no doubt be challenged by owners and examined by timeshare oversight committees.

Besides, DVC really has no reason to do this. They have only a mild interest in selling BCV points--their interest is focused on AKV, BLT and Aulani...the "new" resorts which generate the highest revenues.

In other words, SAB usage restrictions aren't going to happen.

SAB was not taken away from just BWV, it was taken off the pools available to hop to for all DVC members, not just those staying at BWV.

Personally I think all pool hopping will eventually be stopped. They have restricted access to all new resorts.

In the early days of DVC, everyone could pool hop anywhere, including SAB. We hopped there many times in the 1990's and early 2000's. Until they opened BCV and that was the end to pool hopping to SAB.

Oh yeah, I wasn't looking at it that way - forgot about the "all pools" pool hopping days in the past.

But is SAB part of the POS, or just the Dunes Cove pool? If SAB is funded in part from BCV's budget, but not actually part of the POS, then it is possible that that could be changed. It's hard to imagine that change being anything but all-or-nothing, though.

I love BCV because you can walk to Epcot using the under walk instead of the bridge.

It is closer to Epcot than BWV (a big selling point to me) and it (BC) has restuarants that BCV guests can get to even if it is raining.

you know I have not even tried SALB since the early 90's. some people think the pool is great - others happen to like the commuity pools.
