The ultimate gift for a 2 yr old girl??

My neighbor has the roller coaster, her boys play with it all the time. I vote for a play kitchen. When my oldest son turned 2 that was his big present. It was a compact model, sort of triable shaped. We gave it away last year, still I great shape. We had it 12 years! She will love it!

That's actually what I received for my second birthday. Not joking.
We were in Target the other day and my 13yodd said, I miss my "kitchen".;) She really loved playing with that thing as well as the tea set and the play food of course.
My girls LOVED their kitchen. Their table & chairs set too. Don't feel that you have to go all out and get the biggest one: The ones that take less space give just as much pleasure and require just as much imagination! Those things make such good Christmas presents because the presentation by the tree is great.
Fisher Price used to make a fold-up dollhouse for Little People that both my kids adored and used for hours and hours on end. Loved that it would fit under the bed when not in use. I remember it being fairly pricey 10 years ago, especially if you bought extra people and the car....
Yeah, my girls LOVED their dollhouse -- and their Fisher Price RV camper too -- but I'm thinking that was more of a 3-year old thing. Three is such a great age. Their ability to play and pretend just explodes, as do their language and fine motor skills. It's like they get up every morning able to do something that'd been impossible the day before!

Doll stroller and cute doll. This is at oompa.com

Well to be honest any 2 year old ive seen loves empty boxes and real pots and pans with wooden spoons to bang on them with. lol

My DS8 got a set of big wooden blocks for his 2nd Christmas. Still plays with them today and they are kept in living room at all times in the bag they came in for his friends to play with when they visit.

One of the best gifts he ever received and one of the few things I will keep .

The ultimate gift? An aunt like you!!:thumbsup2

BIG gifts are lost on kids that age, they're mostly for the parent to marvel over. They love it for about a minute...:lmao:

You sound like a wonderful auntie! I was one for MANY MANY years, my childtook precedence when I finally had him but being THE aunt is priceless! :goodvibes

Thank you-that was such a sweet thing to say!:goodvibes

The ultimate gift ...... a trip to disney to visit the princesses

She is actually getting one next December-she is the flower girl in our WDW wedding!! :flower3:

That's what I was going to suggest. When DS24 was 2 the Fun Auntie bought him a huge box of blocks, all different shapes. He would play for hours making stacks, little houses with beds for the "people", pretend jet skis(we livd in Florida), "pets" and "boats." When DD17 came along, she played with them just as much. I didn't hang on to most of their old toys, but the blocks I kept.

Her grandma actually got her those for Christmas last year-she loves to stack them! :)

Well, we decided to go with the tea party set, "My First Tea Party" storybook, and either a Cinderella dress up dress or a dress up trunk so she can dress up for tea (we are still deciding which one)..... I realize that the Cinderella dress is probably for mom and dad's entertainment at this point in her life, but I'm hoping it will still fit her a few years from now when she starts to have an appreciation for Cinderella. :) I emailed my BIL & he said to hold off on the kitchen set until they move into a house (they are in a 3 bedroom apartment currently and baby #2 is due in another few months!). My BIL really liked the tea party idea, but he specified "Please no musical teapots." I think her musical toys are driving him a little batty!! (it's their first child ;) )

Also, after talking to BIL some more, it turns out that she is big into pouring stuff and is mesmerized whenever they pour liquids into a cup......my BIL is actually a bartender, so I think it's pretty funny that she is so mesmerized by pouring liquids since he does that a zillion times a night!

Thank you all so much for your suggestions!!!

My DGD loved her kitchen and her DIsney Princess tea cart that her uncle bought for her. We had "tea parties" almost every day. The little 2 YO who visits me has a little kitchen and she "cooks" in the kitchen with her mommy every day. She also likes to color so we got her those magic pads with teh little crayons that so not make any mess.

Little ones that age like to role play so anything that she can do like her Mom would probably make her very happy

When my dd was 2 she loved her Fisher Price Little People sets. She had a kitchen which she liked but not as much as those.

At that age, my girls' hands-down favorite toy was a box of dress-up clothes. Some were costumes (ballerina, bride), some were adult clothes from the Salvation Army, and they had lots of hats and big clunky jewelry. They had that box for YEARS, and we added to it now and then.

This is a great idea. My DD is almost 2 and LOVES LOVES LOVES dress up! Make sure to get shoes and jewelry to go along with it too if you go this route.
Her dollhouse is also quite a hit. She will play with that thing for quite some time. Which is odd for her, usually she's up and running around like crazy. That keeps her attention more than anything else. :)

Mr. Potato Head was a big favorite too.

Don't forget Sit-and-Spin.

I'm with those who'd say NO to that roller coaster. It'd take up all sorts of space, and would receive little playtime.

One year I got lucky and was in Target or Walmart when they were clearing out Halloween costumes at 80% off so I bought a bunch of them. The kids played with those for YEARS.
