The UG has me scared of JUNE!!!!!!!

OH!!! Bugs!
Wear bug stuff at the bus stop at AKL. We needed it last year. It's the only time we needed it. My step mother got chiggers while there. Clear nail polish will do the trick on them though :)

Fantasmic suggestion:

It is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to see Fantasmic without arriving at least 1 hour early, and even then you are taking chances, once the theatre is full-that's it-they close it.

My suggestion is arriving 1.5 hours ahead of time, there are hot dogs, snacks, etc inside the theatre. We always get a fantastic seat, and one of us goes up and gets dinner, we eat in our seats, and play with pal mickey to pass the time. The crowd does the "wave" , which my DD9 loves, and the time goes by really fast, w get to relax and rest, and are unhurried to enjoy the show. If you have smaller children, one of you can get up and walk around with them, there are restrooms right there, as long as you don't leave the theatre, you will be in good shape! Good Luck and have fun!

I love all your advice, we are going in June too, and I have other questions for you guys... what shoes did you have your children wear...?!? In the past I have had them wear sneakers but is that too hot in June? Sandals just don't seem as comfortable for their feet. FYI DD's are 2,4,7.

And next question is what do you guys do with the wet poncho's after it rains and they are so wet. I know this is a dumb question but the thought of caring around dripping wet poncho's when the rain stops doesn't sound fun.

:wave2:

OOOh--good questions r3angels--I hadn't thought of the wet poncho thing.

What do you do?

we go in june alot...we'll be there from the 8th-24th this year...
THE WEATHER:
it will be hot & humid in florida in June: period! like others have said: drink plenty of fluids and take advantage of early morning and late evening touring. wear light clothing and take breaks during the "heat of the day" if possible to recharge the battieries. we have found it best to wear comfortable tennis shoes while at the world. we prefer shoes that are "breathable" and prefer the nylon type as opposed to the all leather type(they dry faster and stay cooler)...p.s. if you're the type that will buy new tennis shoes for your vacation; I suggest wearing them at home for a couple of weeks first to get them broke in before your trip; your feet will thank you...june is the rainy season in florida and you can expect periods of rain most days ranging from the daily "afternooners" which are usually 30 minutes or less to the occasional all day type showers. do not let this ruin your trip! grab a poncho and go...as others have stated: this can actually be a great time to tour and enjoy as it tends to clear the parks out somewhat; especially the water parks. as far as the ponchos go: we get the cheap little ones from wal-mart that come in their own little plastic bags; when it stops raining, we just shake em out, fold em up, and put them back in their bags and then put them in a larger zip-lock type storage bag and put them back in the backpack or camera bag.

THE CROWDS:
we have found the crowds in june to be moderately heavy, but with the use of EMH and Fastpass; extremely manageable...I think the best advice I give is: get there early! take advantage of EMH if you can; especially for the fantasyland section of the MK if you have little ones....this place will be a ZOO by about 10am on most mornings.
same for the water parks...either get there early(as close to opening as possible) or wait until after 3pm or so to go...from about 11am on, the water parks can get very crowded and many times will close for being at capacity around noon and usually they will re-open around 2-3pm as people as starting to clear out somewhat.

FANTASMIC:
this is hit or miss....the only ways to get into and get a good seat for the first showing is to get in line early(at least 45 minutes, but preferably an hour or so before showtime) or to do the fantasmic dinner package.
CAUTION: some have suggested having one person holding a spot in the line while others in the group do other things in the park: the line for fantasmic is an extremely long one and it can be very difficult to find or locate the other members of your group if you seperate. also, they start loading the theatre for the show quite a while before the show actually starts. this creates two problems in this situation: 1)the line starts moving, making it very difficult for the rest of your group to catch up or find you and 2)the cm's will chain off the entrance to the line when enough guest have passed through to fill the theatre to capacity...if the rest of your group tries to enter after this, they may not get in...just something to be aware of...
Our best success has come with catching the second showing of fantasmic when they have one...it is usually far easier to get in then.
Overall, June is a great time to go to Disney....It will be hot and crowded, but, just remember to pace yourself, take advantage of the tips here on the DIS, and remember your on vacation and you will have a great time....
Oh yea, I almost forgot: The bus transportation is really good at disney for the most part. we have stayed at AKL before and the buses were fine....we do drive our own car alot while at WDW because we park-hop and resort-hop alot and have found that we can save time driving own car alot of times(especially for the resorts and the non-major park attractions at the world). If you don't have your own car though, don't worry, you'll be fine....If you do have a car; the only park that I don't suggest driving to is the MK. disney transportation is much more convenient IMHO for the MK...also, AKL is an awesome resort!!! the pool is large and never really has seemed too crowded any time we've been there....hope some of this helps...have a great trip!!!

We'll be going from June -19 -28th. We have always gone right after Thanksgiving, talk about 2 extremes. I have a question, I'm a little concerned about my Mom handling the heat for such a long day. We're staying offsite for the first week, does Disney allow taxi's in to pick up people at the parks????

wet ponchos:
I mush them up and put them into one of the smallest plastic bags at WDW when you buy something in a shop and hang it around the belt to my fanny pack. At night, we dry them out. DH sits on them and pushes all the air out. Any small plastic bag would work that has handles. We had the cheapo ones from Target last year as the above poster mentioned, but last year the rain was just too much and we bought the Mickey ones.

this might sound stupid, but what does EMH stand for?:earseek: I've been reading this post and i am just wondering!!!

EMH is extra magic hour when the parks open an hour early for resort guests.
