I guess once she finished her ice cream, she was able to focus on her posing again!
If you have never taken the time to walk all the way to the back of Canada, you are really missing out on something beautiful.
This is also a great spot on a hot day because this whole area is so cool, and theres always a mist blowing off the waterfall.
And the award for best CM costume goes to
That is exactly what I picture a Canadian Park Ranger to look like, right down to the Brogans!
Alright, its time to get down to more F&W business dont you think?
As we were making our way out of the pavilion, I spotted this pretty butterfly fluttering from flower to flower having her own version of a free F&W Festival.
I bet her Verbena nectar was better than my Fishermans Pie.
But the real question is, was her nectar better than the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup?
I think we should investigate, dont you?
Over the years I have read so much about this soup! It is definitely a DIS favorite, so this was my chance to see what all the hoopla was about. We ate at Le Cellier in 2008 but we didnt order any appetizers, so this was my first opportunity to sample the famous Moosehead soup!
I was getting weary at that point and needed to give my feet a break, so we found a nice quiet bench by the water to sit and enjoy our treat.
Not a bad view not bad at all!
The sound of my spoon scraping against the walls of my little paper bowl attracted the attention of a few onlookers and beggars.
This guy cracked me up. He just kept lurking in the bushes next to me and every time I would turn and look at him, he would duck back into the foliage. Then when I would look away, he would pop his head back up. I think he was stalking me and conspiring to steal my snack!
They may just be common Floridian birds, but they are quite the little characters. In fact, Id say I enjoyed watching their antics more than eating my soup. Dont get me wrong, it was good, just not as outstanding to me as it has been described by others.
Well friends, this has been the longest journey ever, but weve finally completed our trip around the lagoon! The only country that we havent visited yet is Mexico, but have no fear, well be heading there for dinner.
In the meantime, we did a little more shopping in the Christmas store at the entrance to World Showcase.
DD decided to buy this set of Epcot coins. She took them to school for show and tell after the trip, and the kids really enjoyed seeing the money from other countries.
When we were coming out of the store, DH spotted this F&W booth
And picked up one of these little beauties
Mr. Stingy only gave me one bite, but boy was it a good one! Its proper title was Kalua Pork Slider with Sweet and Sour Dole Pineapple Chutney, but Ill give you the southern translation it was a BBQ sandwich with pineapple jam. You see, in North Carolina BBQ means one thing and one thing only grilled, pulled pork. Here, BBQ is not a grill. BBQ is not a verb. BBQ is a whole hog, laid out on a huge, redneck grill that has a hitch and wheels, because we take our BBQ very seriously!
In other words, we know good BBQ when we eat it, and that was some darn good pig! And I know most of you would agree that you could slap some Dole pineapple on a slug and it would taste good!
Well, by the end of the day we had tried some of the world famous F&W dishes and thought they were just average at best, but we loved all the obscure items that no one seemed to mention. This just reiterated what I already knew. You can listen to opinions and take advice, but you just wont know until you go and see for yourself.
So the breakdown of our first F&W festivities goes like this
First Place: Lobster Roll America
Second Place: Pork Slider w/ Pineapple Chutney Hawaii
Third Place: Shrimp Cake on a Sugar Cane Skewer Singapore
All things considered, we LOVED the F&W Festival and would absolutely go again. My only regret was not getting the Pecan Praline Bread Pudding in America, but its at the top of the list for next time!
When you're a Disney addict, you are perpetually planning for the next time.
Up next: I cannot believe these rides are WALK-ON, and the best seat in the house for Illuminations!!!
