  • "COVER YOUR EARS! Did she REALLY just say that??!??!"

  • "How to hate your mate in 7 easy days..."

  • "The BEST way to stay friends with your friends is to NOT spend time with them while on vacay..."

"...Half a Day at our First Park and Already...."

....I could sense that my DH, Ron's interest in theme parks, Florida, and vacation was waning - FAST. You know how, when you spend more than half your life with someone, you can sense their every thought, mood, and level of happiness and/or comfort. That's not like that with Ron - well, MOST of the time. There ARE instances when his body language lets me creep into his Psyche when he is REALLY irked, or mildly miffed; basically, when he just doesn't want to be in that particular spot at that particular moment. This is one of those times. Without a single word, he as the power to lower the 'fun-o-meter' at by least ten points. For example, WHO, in their right mind, would wear a pair of blue-jean carpenter pants every day while vacationing just east of Hades????!?!? Honestly, I must possess an endless supply of optimism to pack a couple of pairs of shorts in his suitcase. I don't think his legs have seen the light of day since 'The Big One'......okay, we're not THAT old, but you get the idea...

...after leaving Suess Landing, the 'heat-factor' has now risen considerably and we've ingested a so-so lunch. So, where to next?

[MY version of 'Where's Waldo?' Just look for the jeans...:) ]

Right, Toon Lagoon and all the wet offerings only this part of the park can offer, such as Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges® and Dudley Do-Right’s Rip Saw Falls. The lame-o factor of the latter can only be tolerated by the last awesome drop of this attraction. However, the temperature was still at a steady climb as we spied all the drenched, but thoroughly entertained and satisfied ride-goers of the other and it wasn't too hard to convince us to head in that direction. Almost 45 minutes later, and we were finally seated in our very own [well, not entirely true; we DID share it with a family of 3 from Richmond, Va.] round floating contraption that would send us off into watery oblivion. Now, mind you, inevitably I am usually making a mental comparison of any US/IoA attraction to its Disney counterpart; most times, WDW wins out - not this time though; Kali River Rapids is a close second while those barges really delivered ~

1) way more AND better soaking possibilities
2) longer ride time
3) overall more exciting/exhilerating ride experience

....can you guess where my DH was all this time? Certainly not on the ride with us. He sat there. and sat there. and sat there. and sat there some more, complete with all our belongings (well, at least I didn't have to visit the locker area! ;) ) par-boiling in his jeans. You can well imagine his level of fun - happy, happy, joy, joy[insert tongue in cheek HERE]...it's about this moment in time that he's now hinting that he wants to return to the condo. Wait a second - we haven't even ridden The Hulk ride yet! Well, he really does like this ride, so off we went, by-passing the Spiderman ride (no problem-o for SOME of us!) but at a temporary stand-still to allow the Superheroes to go by on their jet-propulsion 4-wheelers. Well, they weren't jet-propulsion EXACTLY, but the males in our group certainly didn't mind the FEMALE superheroes (or is it 'heroines'??) in their clingy, scantily-clad costumes and 6-inch thigh-high boots.....UGH!

...as you can see by the crowd, there was nary an iota of cool air to be located anywhere on this LONNNNNNGGGGGG queue...

Photo-0122.jpg

...we patiently waited as we were next on line to board the ride, when the eight-year-old in the last row of the ride suddenly decided that he was not having any part of The Incredible Hulk - they had to stop the ride and let him deboard, along with his totally embarrassed dad, as the disgruntled crowd let out a collective 'BOO!' that rose to a low roar not dissimilar to that of a final touchdown score at the Superbowl...

....the first zip through the tunnel and out and over as you hurl towards the earth is such a rush....

Photo-0123.jpg

[...my apologies for the less-than-spectacular Hulk pix. Once again, my camera fell victim to the lockers, so I used my phone's camera to capture some green magic...]

....trust me, our faces truly portrayed giddy delirium...satisfied that, once again, we've 'defeated' that burly, ominous green guy, we back-tracked and walked back towards Spiderman in a last-ditch effort to ride it, but there was no such luck as we glanced at the Wait Time board, announcing that there was a 55-minute wait....

WDW_2010_Mystic_Dunes034.jpg

[...hmmmm, call me crazy, but are best friends SUPPOSED to dress alike?? And note Ron's displeasure...]

WDW_2010_Mystic_Dunes035.jpg

[...just kidding - at least Jean had the common sense to not commit a fashion no-no by sporting a pair of khaki shorts for the day...]

....by the fact that Ron didn't even want to pose in the photo was a definite indication that we could stick a fork in him, cuz' HE WAS DONE! All we had to do was to wait for Jesse and Alexis; they had ventured off to the area behind the Popeye ride, to watch a show there:

....they also stealthily raced back to Hogsmeade to purchase some of those disgusting Hogwarts jelly beans...

IMG_2331.jpg

...okay folks, we're OUTTA here, minus our friends. They decided to stay, since they had purchased the 'Meal Deal' when we had eaten lunch at Suess Landing ( I dunno - gluttons for punishment, I guess...), so they'd catch up to us sometime later this evening - not necessarily so, though, for the rest of the vacation...

Oh Oh, is it time to cue the ominous music?

Still no (t)Roll pictures yet......Just a hunch(back)...but I don't think she's done with that post #403 yet.
