The trip where the surprises kept coming

Friday 13th Feb Surprises 1, 2 and 3. How far will we get before she clicks?
If youve read the pre TR you will know that we have booked the trip and are setting off without telling Charys where we are going or how long for. You will also know that we have changed our plans a few times and are now driving down to Ashford after work on Fri 13 and going through the tunnel early Saturday morning.
Anyhow we had told Charys in the morning that we were going away for the weekend (Surprise number 1) and she wanted to know where so we told her we were going to a Travel Lodge in Medway for a few days and she was so excited. As I was taking her to school that morning she kept saying how excited and lucky she was. I felt like saying wait til you see the real surprise. She asked if there was anything exciting to do where we were going so I told her there were some exciting places nearby that we would be visiting.
I finished work at lunchtime and we packed the car while she was still at school with a large suitcase hidden at the back of the boot. We collected her from school, got changed and set off. We had bought her 2 new magazines to read in the car and she managed to wait til we got off the drive before starting to read one of them. We had been driving for about 15 mins but hadnt got far as the traffic was bad when I suddenly remembered that Id forgotten her new Cinderella dress that wed bought her to wear to Auberge. We turned round and headed back home. I then had to sneak the dress into the boot without her seeing.
So we set off for the 2nd time. The journey was uneventful but seemed to take for ever. We stopped at one point to get some food and went to Burger King bang goes the diet and healthy eating.
We had wondered how far we would get before Charys realised where we were going and as we got closer to the tunnel we kept expecting her to suddenly comment but she was oblivious to it all as she was half asleep and playing on her DS and listening to music. As we pulled into the terminal I turned to her and said that we had decided not to go to the Travel Lodge after all but to visit one of the exciting places nearby instead. She was very confused so we told her to look out of the window. She suddenly realised where we were and asked if we were going to France. (Surprise number 2) We said yes but she still didnt click it was to Disney.
We were booked on an early morning crossing and had hoped to sleep in the car at the terminal but were told we could get on the 12.20 crossing with a small extra charge but couldnt get on an earlier one as it would be a lot more expensive. We were also told we couldnt stay in the car park for anymore than 2 hrs as they were really busy and having trouble with parking that night however we could go to the nearby services and return later if we wanted to stick to out original time. We decided to go for the earlier time as we didnt fancy sending the night at the service station. We parked the car and settled down to try to sleep for an hour but it was too busy and light. There was loads of space in the car park though so Im sure we could have stayed there longer than the 2 hours.
Charys starting asking whereabouts in France we were going and we kept trying to distract her. Eventually we just told her we were going to a place called Magny le Hongre and she accepted it.
We were soon on the train and as soon as we got on we all settled down to sleep we had got pillows and blankets in the car. Before we knew it we were in France and driving to Magny le Hongre/Disney/Surprise number 3. Charys slept all the way, I dozed on and off and DH drove (so didnt sleep at all). We arrived about 5.00am and went to the Esso station next to Santa Fe to fill up with diesel then decided to go and park at New York ready for EMH. We were unsure if the would let us into the car park so early especially as we werent staying there but we flashed our dream pass and were waved through no questions asked.
We parked the car and sat wondering when Charys would wake up and what she would say. We suddenly heard a voice from the back shouting Thats New York What are we doing here? She told us later she had woken up, looked up, closed her eyes again and suddenly realised so sat up quickly to double check. We explained we had surprised her with a trip to Disney and that we were staying at Holiday Inn (Magic Circus) for one night. (Surprise number 3)
She suddenly became very excited. We decided to go for a walk into the hotel to the toilets and then Charys and I decided to be mad and go for a walk out of the front of the hotel to look at the lake it looked beautiful so calm and peaceful. It was very cold though but that could possibly have been to do with the fact that it was only 6.00am and we werent wearing a coat.
We went back to the car and we all fell asleep again for an hour ready to wake up in time for EMH and our first day.
