Mon 16th Feb – Day 3
We were woken by Goofy at 7.30 (well Charys and I were – DH was already up and raring to go). I crawled out of bed and into the luxurious bathroom and had to decide which sink I was going to use to brush my teeth in – oh the decisions I have to make.
Dressed and more awake having drunk a cup of tea we made our way into the park for EMH. It was such a long walk from the hotel to the entrance!!!
It was only seconds before we were strolling down Main Street towards Fantasyland. We rode our usual EMH rides – Peter Pan, Dumbo, Tea Cups, Carrousel, Snow White (hello HildasMuriel and daughter again) then across to Discoveryland to Buzz.
It was then back to the hotel for the most yummy breakfast.
This became the pattern for the next few days – an hour EMH then back for breakfast having built up an appetite. What a treat having wonderful food and a wonderful view to look at while eating. On our way back to our room we had photos with Mickey,
White Rabbit and my favourite - Eeyore
We decided to go into the studios for a change. We headed there and went on the tram tour first. I then decided I was going to be brave enough to do TOT on my own as Charys didn’t want to do it. I decided it was now or never so used my Hotel FP to do it immediately. I didn’t have to wait long as being a single rider I was able to fill a slot in a lift. I found myself sat right at the front again. It was fantastic, I loved it and would quite happily do it again on my own.
I met DH and Charys outside Cinemagique where a show was starting soon. Again we really enjoyed this.
We then decided to go into the Village to look in the shops and do a bit of shopping and then back to the hotel for a rest and swim.
DH and Charys then went back into the park to use their hotel FPs on BTM while I stayed in the room to get ready to go to Inventions where we had booked for 6.00pm. It was nice not being cluttered up with coats and bags in there and I was looking forward to a nice relaxing meal – little did I know what was to come.
DH gave our name at the desk and the man said something which I didn’t hear but heard DH say No in a loud voice. I wondered what was wrong but didn’t ask. We were shown to our table which was in the large room passed the food in the centre of the room. We showed our APs and premium vouchers and were told we couldn’t combine the 2- we said we didn’t want to we just wanted to claim the free kir. There was a bit of discussion and it seemed to take 3 people to decide if we were allowed them or not – strange as at Easter Inventions was the place who insisted we had an extra one for our son who was with us.
Anyhow the food was wonderful as ever (report and pics to be posted on the restaurant thread). We met Donald Duck, Chip, Dale, Eeyore, Mickey. The Genie, and Launchpad.
DH seemed a bit distracted and kept looking towards the waiters – he suggested we had a rest before going for any desert, then suddenly decided we should go and get some. I was beginning to become a bit suspicious but didn’t say anything. After he’d eaten his desert he got up saying he was going to the toilets but came back very quickly. The next thing I heard music and saw Launchpad being called over (he was the only character about at the time) and suddenly realised what was about to happen. I turned to DH and said “I’ll kill you”. He then told me that it was actually someone else’s idea!!!!!!
As suspected a birthday cake was brought over on a musical stand shaped like a birthday cake. I had to be reminded by Launchpad to blow out the candles. The cake was delicious – more like a chocolate mousse with strawberries and star fruit. The waiter cut it and served us with an enormous slice each.
In case you haven’t read already the person to blame was actually Rob (UK Stitch) who has become a very good friend of mine recently. He had written to DH asking him to arrange this belated cake for me as a surprise for trying to spring so many surprises on Charys this holiday as he thought it would be fun to catch me out. Needless to say a text was quickly sent threatening to kill him and received one back saying “How was Inventions?” I’m now of course trying to think of a way to get my own back so any ideas gratefully received.
We took the remainder of the cake back to the room to enjoy later and got our coats as we had decided a walk was needed after all that food. We headed to Newport Bay to the bar for a drink. We’ve never been in here before but it was really nice and of course we had to have a cocktail.
We then wandered back along the lake, through the Village to the hotel. Fantasia gardens were lovely and peaceful as there was no one else about. I took the net book down to the lounge area to do some DISing and then collapsed into bed ready for another Disney day – hopefully without any surprises.
