DBF 28 - also obssessed, but not as vocal about it

Day one-

Our flight was leaving JFK (NYC) at 7:05 which meant we would have to be at the airport at or around 5am. After much pleading we were able to snag a ride from my DBF's brother in law. He lives in the apt upstairs from J. (DBF) so it wouldn't be much of a problem.

As part of my traditions while I was growing up, my family would always go out for a nice dinner the night before a big trip. I'm trying to continue this tradition with J., so we ate dinner at about 6pm and after which I went home. That way I could finish up and last minute incidentals (after all I had packed the week earlier) and J. could start his packing. Yes you read correctly START his packing. I was freaking out b/c I couldn't close my suitcase, and if I couldn't close it now, I definatly wouldn't be able to with all of my cool new souvenirs that I would be buying. I called J. a couple of times, only to be told that he couldn't talk b/c he was still packing. After repacking twice and finally deciding to bring an extra small carry on for some shoes (I know, I know!) I was set. I set my alarm for a little before 4. J. was going to pick me up at 4:20, we would then be off to Dunkin Donuts and then back to his house and at the airport by 5. I stress the phrase going to, that I will get back to.

I couldn't fall asleep, I was way too excited. And started thinking about crazy things like did I pack my medical cards, did I pack this and that. I am a nutcase. I finally dozed off around 12ish only to be awoken at 2 by my parents that were coming home from a Christmas party. Nothing like hearing your parents friends wandering around the house looking for a bathroom at 2am. After that there was no getting back to sleep. I finally got out of bed at like 3. And at 4:20 on the dot I was standing on my front porch with my suitcases awaiting the arrival of J. And continued to wait until 4:30. Then I called, he said he was finishing up he would be right over. (he lives 5 min away) 4:45, no J. 4:55, no J. About 5ish I see him speeding around the corner. I jump in the car, we go to Dunkin Donuts and he tells me that we got to hurry b/c he needs to finish packing.

WHAT!?

Yes apparently he didn't finish packing. Ok not to worry we are still early. We pull up to his drive way, I see his bro-in-law looking out the window and before I know it J is in the house and I am left to bring in the donuts.

All is well we end up at the airport by 5:40 amazingly. Check in and wait near our gate. I had to sneak off to wrap a present that I got him. It was an early Xmas present, a digital camera, I figured there would be no point in waiting till Xmas considering he could really use it in FL. The plan was to give it to him on the plane, but he ended up sleeping the entire time. I on the other hand was wide awake.

We land without incident and retrieve our baggage, head over to the Alamo rent a car. (total with taxes $121 and change for a full size - not bad) We jump in a red monte carlo and are off to Celebration, our first stop!

I do have to mention that I saw numerous lime green mickey heads on luggage. I only actually saw one person carrying the bag though, all the rest were at the baggage claim, and I didn't ever see who did claim them.
I was sporting my mickey heads too, so if anyone saw me I was covered with them!
