In our last episode I lamented how early we got started...well we learned nothing. 5:30 in the morning and I'm up ready for a nice peaceful walk through the CBR grounds. DD is snoring away and DW asks why in the heck I'm up so early. I smile, get dressed in the national Florida uniform of shorts and a tank top and begin my trek.

Now, here in Washington State, the early morning means cool crisp weather. I'm not sure but I'm sure somebody forgot to turn off the heat in Florida because its still around 100 or so...well at least it felt like it. No matter, I'm on vacation and a walk beckons. The grounds are beautiful and a short 45 min walk later I'm back at the room and DW and DD are up and ready for breakfast.

The ducks and geckos (not Geico) are up greeting us as we trek over the island to the food court. After a typical wonderful breakfast its a quick stop back at the room to grab the water bottles and off to the Magic Kingdom.

The bus comes after a short 4 min wait and after the security check we're in. Pirates has a 5 min wait and we grab that ride. Splash mountain has a 30 min wait, grab it and after on to Big Thunder. An hour wait means its time to Fast Pass then off to the Jungle Cruise. Being Disneyland veterans we're a bit off kilter as there is no Matterhorn to center us. After Jungle its time for Big Thunder...BUT ITS BROKEN? Well pooh. No matter, its lunch time and Pecos Bill's burgers hit the spot. Did I mention that its hot...real hot...and humid...real humid? We go back to Big Thunder and its still down so we head back towards Main Street and hit the Tiki Birds. After meandering down Main Street we hit the train and head back to Big Thunder as we hear its up and running. Hey, wait...is that the wind picking up? Its cooler and us Washington Natives are now doing much better.

The train comes and lets us off at Frontierland. The clouds are covering the area and its like home...how nice for Disney to make the weather more like the Northwest. Just as we hit Big Thunder and are ready to board the ride all of the clouds let loose with more rain than Washington State gets in a year. Did you know that Big Thunder is a water ride? Well, get on during a cloud burst and talk about a wild ride that was so refreshing.

The rain lasts for a mere 5 hours but we're from Washington and don't rust. We grab a fast pass for Space Mountain and do a few other rides. Space Mountain is a bit chilly when you're soaked by the way.

Since the rain is responsible for cancelling parades and doesn't look like its going to stop we head on back to the CBR and a dry night's sleep. Not bad for our first day and we learn that sleep is a good thing.

More tomorrow and watch out Epcot...we've purchased ponchos

I enjoyed reading your trip report so much. What a great attitude you have. A true Disneyworlder who is immersed in the experience and makes lemonade out of the few lemons that come your way. I know the rest of your trip will be just as wonderful as the first day.

I agree - when it rains - just keep going - thanks for posting!

The rain just separates the true WDWers from the fainthearted and makes the lines shorter! Have poncho will travel!
Thanks for posting.

:D It sounds like your having a great trip so far....what's a little rain?? A few less people in line!!
Looking forward to day 3.
