There is stands overlooking MGM Studios....

The ride that I've been told is a must and one of the many in all the Florida theme parks that is up there with the scariest.

Before you enter the lift you get to hear the history of the hotel in, 'The Twilight Zone's own special way. Personally, I think that's what freaks folk out.

On entering the lift, you can hear and sense the terror in some. A woman sitting next to me was really getting in a state.

The next events for the forthcoming minute or two were great - you may get to see a few ghosts - and then of course you get the drop!

PLEASE - for folk who have yet been on it, you should and not be scared. It's just the pre-film before heading into the lift that will make you feel more nervous than you should actually be.

I'm sure fans of the ride will agree with me here.

I don't know about that...the first drop always freaks me out.

When we went to DL last year, we bought the picture from TOT. We look JUST LIKE those people in the ads for TOT...the drops were so much more crazy, and LOTS of air time! We rode it at least five times in one night. It was great!

I understand the film is put together from several clips of Rod Serling, so it's actually him all the way through. It and the special effects are the best part. The actual drop is nothing as rides go. It's what lead up to the drop that makes this such a special ride.

I used to be afraid of the drops, but now it's just 'fun scared', not 'scared scared'. It's a great attraction and the queue is one of the best. Worth walking through even if you don't ride the ride. :thumbsup2

I hate it! That big drop feeling is what I always hated on the old roller coasters I grew up with. I am 54 years old and my teen/young adult kids intimidate me into going on this ride every time! I guess it has become this personal feat that I must accomplish. Last December the gentleman I sat next to knew I was very nervous and when it was over he accused me of giving him bruises on the side of his leg where my hand was hanging onto the handle for dear life! Really, he is lucky if that is all he got sitting next to me!

I'm a bit afraid of the ToT, but I want to ride it.

Oddly enough, I remember at my last trip to WDW the ToT being built. It was scary looking even then!!

I LOVE TOT it is one of my favourite rides at WDW, can't wait until we go in april so i can ride it again. Think MGM will be one of the first parks we visit as i love rock n roller coaster aswell! :hyper: :Pinkbounc

I was rather disappointed with TOT last week. I thought it was rather boring - not at all thrilling with the drops.

I remember the first time I rode it....the movie at the beginning made the ride more frightening, because I knew we were going to drop somewhere, but I did not know where. After the first ride (when they only did one drop), I loved it and have not been frightened since.

I have a friend of mine who likes to see how many people he can make scream before even hitting the drop...Just after the window shatters on the ride up and it goes dark he screams at the top of his lungs...he's informed me that he's never not had most of the car react. I personally don't think its a nice way to ride...I'm on it for the thrill. :woohoo:

He demonstrated for me in January, and sure enough, just about everyone in the car followed suit. :dance3:

the biggest fear I have on that ride is something not-so-disney-like coming out of my mouth....

TOT is one of Disney's best. It's right there with HM, POTC, and Soarin'.:earsboy:

I love love love this ride. I think it's my favorite. I even know I'm going to get nauseous on it, with it dropping but I go anyway. I went on it a couple times myself because DH stayed behind with kids cause they were too small and I just had to go on it :teeth: over and over :Pinkbounc

If you are looking for thrill rides Disney is NOT the place to go! I could not under any circumstances list Tower of Terror as a thrill ride. My local Kings Island has more frightening things in the kiddie section. Its a nice ride but not anywhere near up to the hype its been given.

Tower of Terror is a thrill ride for me! I love it, but I have to remember my Dramamene! :rotfl: And it's definitely the theme of the ride that makes it special.

Please try it.... Yes, it might possibly make you nervous for the opening five minutes and when the lift door shuts - but, overall I'm convinced when the ride is over - you will have loved it.

Personally, for all the rides in all theme parks, I have to try them to purely say I've been on them.

Just dropping did not sound like much of a ride to me. So I passed by ToT on our first few trips. Not sure what made me try it ... may 13 yo DD taunting me. But I did ... and I loved it.
We went back to the park close to closing time one evening and we rode it about 10 times straight. What a fun and what a great memory of time with DD.
(DH just sat and waited. He did go in once and took the chicken exit)

That must be hilarious! :)

I've done it 3 times now. I wish I could have done it a few more times...but I'm always the only one who rides the "scary" rides. hehehe

One our first trip I opted out because I was afraid the drop would hurt my back. So I sat on the sofa by the exit and after a few minutes, the elevator opened and my boyfriend and everybody else just fell out laughing and giggling. I knew then I had to try it! It is
definitely a thrill ride for me! However one thing worth mentioning, the drops are fun! The line though is really scary with all the psychological buildup, it was almost to much for me!
