The tooth fairy forgot to come!

I woke up this morning to fine Rads looking close to tears, sitting on her bed clutching the neatly wrapped up tooth she'd left under her pillow last night, oh no! the darn tooth fairy hasn't been, this shouldn't ever happen!

I suggested to her that it was possible that she was still busy doing her rounds, maybe there had been lots of teeth to collect last night, it was only 7am after all, the night shift is probably not over yet and as our surname begins with 'W' the chances are that we'd be the last stop.

We decided to gather up R's clothes and she got ready in my room, we closed her door together and vowed to check later, she buried her tooth back under the pillow. After getting ready for school we spent a lot of time listening at the door, I'm sure we could hear a little wing flap sound.

Just before going down for breakfast at 8am it was decided to check to see if she'd been yet, in we went, R put her hand under the pillow and low and behold there was a crisp £5 note. (I assume she didn't have anything smaller)

R's now delighted, not only has she been but we 'think' we heard her come AND as she knew R was upset she left £5 rather than the usual £1. Rachel turns to me and says "Mummy, maybe there really IS a tooth fairy as you didn't go back in there this morning"

Sometimes I wonder who's kidding who!

Oh the price of guilt;) That made me laugh especially the last bit, who's kidding who indeed!

I realised the other night my 10 year old daughter is growing up when she lost the last one of her baby teeth. I told her not to forget to put it under her pillow for the tooth fairy, her reply "okay mummy if you want me to keep on believing in the tooth fairy I will, I'm happy to keep taking your money"

Almost as bad as when they stop believing in Father Christmas!

LOL :teeth: !

As SOON as I saw your thread I thought that looks familiar :teeth: ! (That smilie is appropriately called teeth too!!) Been there, done that!

You feel so GUILTY don't you? ..... well you obviously did since TF left £5 ;) !!!!!!!!!

I can still see the disappointed face of my son when TF didn't visit - so............ when he went to the bathroom, the 'TF' put the money under the bed and I told him it must have fallen from underneath his pillow - the TF left the tooth as she couldn't carry any more :teeth: !!!!!

 .. you have to think very fast to get yourself out of these situations!

Ah well! In this house the days of Tooth Fairies are gone now!

We're awful at this, absolutely awful. I've told my kids that the workforce has been rationalised, and they only collect weekly. And the other excuse I've used is that when you stop believing a fairy dies. Now I think they're too scared to say they don't believe.

I'm a hard father.

Unfortunately we have a very busy/lazy tooth fairy. Now the kids know that the best chance of getting her to come is to leave the tooth downstairs on the fireplace as she seems to spot it better. I wonder why!!!

DD1 has a friend whose tooth fairy always writes a letter to her - so now she writes to our tooth fairy and expects a long letter back each time!

Our tooth fairy must have been really pleased when Alexandra said her friend got a letter back from the TF which was written backwards (so had to be read in the mirror) and also sprinkled with magic fairy dust! Our tooth fairy had to be up really late the next time a delivery was due!

Oh bless - that is so cute!

Those days are loooooooong gone in this house......... mind you, DH has a troublesome tooth at the moment, so maybe not! ;)

I am saving this story for when my soon to be born Grandchild has these major events......nice to have a great excuse on hand!

:)

LOL I still have the note my DD (then aged 6) left for the tooth fairy....explaining how a friend had accidently knocked her in the playground at school.....and her tooth had come out but had got lost. She was so upset when she came home cos the tooth fairy wouldnt come. The tooth fairy still came tho ;)

Other tooth related story was older DD had told the younger one (who avoided tooth-brushing whenever she could) that the tooth fairy doesnt give money for dirty teeth.....I went upstairs and found DD busy scrubbing the newly out tooth clean.
