Today was a mixed day of good things, bad things and then more good things. One of the good things was that Niamh felt much better this morning. One of the bad things was that, because shed fallen asleep at 7pm, she was awake at 4am again and starving. Shed only eaten breakfast yesterday and thrown that up, so shed not eaten anything for about 24 hours. The food court didnt open for another two hours but she said shed last.
She was making a bit too much noise so Aodhan woke up at about half 4. I decided now was a good time to do the laundry so headed off to the one by the piano pool. Not surprisingly I was the only one there but a few minutes later a woman came in who looked like she hadnt been to bed yet and had a nightcap or two. I left the washing in the machine and came back to the room. I went on the internet to check on the BLT news. It was in such a stupid set up, the internet cable was at the bedside cabinet and nowhere near the table so I was trying to surf with the laptop balanced on the table in between the two beds. I read up about BLT and am still undecided about adding on here. Ill go and have a look at the units while we are here. Steve called and spoke to the kids, hes missing us and says its too quiet at home.
I went back to the laundry room and took $5 to get some change for the dryer. The flippin machine kept spitting out the $5 and I was very close to committing dryer rage. I went back to the room, got some $1 bills and went back to the laundry again. Once Id got some change I set the dryer going and went back to the room for what seemed like the 10th time.
It was almost 6am so we I grabbed the refillable mugs and headed off to the food court. We walked in the door of the building and the next thing I knew, Id fallen heavily and was on the floor. I was in complete agony and couldnt get up. Niamh ran to the front desk and told them what had happened and they dialed 911. I thought this was a bit extreme but I guess Disney were just covering themselves.
Niamh came back to me and I still couldnt move as my right knee was really painful but I didnt want to be lying in the middle of the floor. I dragged myself over to a bench and sat up, but then I thought I was about to faint so I laid down on it. Poor Niamh was really worried and I tried to reassure her as best I could. After a few minutes the faint feeling passed and I sat up. Just then one of Disneys security guards arrived and took my details. I was still very shaky and couldnt remember my room number. After that the paramedics arrived with a stretcher and all the gear (I guess they had to bring it all as they didnt know what theyd find) I explained what happened and the paramedic blamed my flip flops. He checked to see if I could move my knee, which I could and asked if I wanted to go to the hospital but I didnt see the point of that as all they would do is x-ray my leg and give me pain killers. The paramedic gave me an ice pack which would last about 20 minutes and said when that wasnt cold anymore to use Ice from the vending machines.
While the paramedics were there another family walked passed us and their son (who wasnt wearing flip flops) slipped and fell over in the same place and later on I was talking to a woman whod seen an employee take a hard fall there too. A Disney manager arrived and I explained it all to her. It seems they had only just had the floors replaced in this area to make them non slip (it obviously wasnt working then)
The paramedics gave me the name of a painkiller to take which also had an anti-inflammatory and as the shop wasnt open the manager got me some and said shes charge it to our room. When everyone finally left us I limped into the food court so that Niamh could get something to eat and I took the painkillers. The manager said to let her know if I needed anything and there was no way I could get over to the laundry room to collect the washing so I asked if someone could do it for me and she said they could. We made a slow, painfull walk back to the room and took the lift up to the 3rd floor. Niamh went to get some ice and I rested my leg on a pillow.
Some one brought the laundry, which was a great help. The ice and the painkillers helped too and after a couple of hours we decided to go down to the pool. I took a slow hobble and sat and watched the kids, who had the pool to themselves.
When theyd had enough we decided to risk going to MK as I could take it at a slow pace. We went back to the room and got showered & changed, then headed to the bus stop. It was about half 9 and the MK queue was massive. People said theyd been waiting about 35 minutes, the bus came after wed been there about 5 minutes and thankfully two of them came together otherwise we wouldnt have got on.
It didnt take long to get to MK and it looked lovely all decorated for Halloween. I had to take a photo of these Tigger shoes, not sure if the woman wearing them was going to use them to jump over the gate to get in.
First thing we did was head over to the Barbers Shop for Aodhan to get his traditional hair cut. Unfortunately Michael was off but he still got a good cut.
Niamh also had her hair cut, and while the do afterwards was lovely, the cut was terrible and very uneven
We had a great day at MK as most of the rides were a walk on. I let the kids go on quite a few rides by themselves when I needed to rest my leg and we walked everywhere very slowly. It was lovely seeing all the Halloween decorations
We had dinner at LTT and that was a great experience with all the characters as they were all in a playful mood, especially Dale who seemed to spend ages with us.
When dinner was over we left the park and headed back to the All Stars looking at the great decorations as we left the park.
There was another bus issue and people were waiting over half an hour for a bus. One woman at the front of the queue stormed up to an All Stars Sports bus that pulled up at the next bus stop and had a right go at the driver (as if it was his fault.) Again two ASMu buses came together but we didnt care as we just wanted to get home.
We got back to the room at about half 8 and Amber was looking out the window waiting for us.
It was lights out once wed all had a shower and a bit of chill time, I went to sleep thinking how venerable I was here on my own with the kids and how lucky Id been not to have seriously damaged my leg.

Oh Jakki, I hope your knee recovered quickly. Other than the fall, it sounds like you had a lovely day
