The "They'll Have Fun If It Kills Me" Trip Report

Wow - I am getting really tired just reading your report. Three full days straight without a break. You are a better Disney junkey than I am. :worship: You must have been comatose every night. Sounds like a lot of fun. I am glad your friends are also having fun and are able to hang with you hour for hour, especially in the summer heat. You got sooooo much done in 3 days. Strong work!

Crazy isn't it!!!!! We were determined to get in as much as possible, and after the 2nd day at Epcot, I thought we might lose some, but everyone hung in there! Even the 2 year old! Don't you just love it thouigh!:)

Between your kids and your friends', you have my kids at the various stages of their lives! I've been there with the kid who freaks out at fireworks. I've been there with the kid who fears nothing, lol! I'm really enjoying seeing how you handled everything.

Sounds like your type-A friend was able to relax and let you take the lead. This is why I've never been willing to go to Disney with anyone else. Usually I'm not a planner, but when it comes to Disney, I plan like crazy, and it would drive me nuts to have to try to keep someone else moving, lol!

Keep on posting...oh, and, what dates were you there? Just curious. We were lucky and only hit rain twice on our trip. Did the rains help cool it down or just make it mucky out?

Post-on, I'll be reading!

I'm still here also.

My best friend and I are currently thinking of taking our two families on a cruise/WDW trip. We already told each other, we don't have to do everything together. Sounds like you had a great time!

Sounds like a great time so far. I'm another Tar Heel here. Did it rain everyday? We head down in 3 weeks. Driving tho...9 hours ugh.

Hey! Thanks for reading! I was a little nervous about taking them because we have never been on a trip with anyone other than my sister-in-law and brother in law, and we have bragged about how much fun it is....we were hoping that they would have as much fun as we did,...and they did, and just like we were after our first trip, they can't stop talking about it! I hate that we didn't get to see any firework shows. That would have really been the icing on the cake, but it's not worth tears! We were there June 18-23. It literally rained every day, and it made it feel like a sauna outside afterwards! The heat wasn't as bad as August though. It was doable! We definitely had a great time!:)

Thanks for hanging with me! I've heard that the cruises are great! I get a little motion sick so I don't know if I could handle it or not. Have you been on any other cruises? Are they "wavie and bumpy" or could I handle it? We did have a great time. Do you start thinking of a time that you could go back as soon as you get home? We are already trying to figure out when we can go back! I'll read your tr too! Thanks for reading!

Hey Luckylady! I live in Shelby, about 35 miles west of Charlotte. And yes, it did rain EVERY day! A friend of mine who goes every June told me to get ponchos. I thought to myself "yea, we'll really use those!" Boy did we!!!!! Have fun on your trip! I know that you are so excited! Where are you staying?

I know Shelby. We used to live in Charlotte while going to UNCC. We decide to stay at POFQ this trip. Our DD will stay with us while the two boys have thier own room away from us. Boy the soon to be 19 year old loves that part.Think I'll hit Dollar Tree for those buy 4 for $1. ponchos.

I think that eventually we'll have to go to getting 2 rooms. With 3 kids, we have to go to POR or a deluxe...for sure...get the ponchos! I think that June and July are the rainest months! Have fun and I can't wait to read your TR!

I know how it is with three. We used to stay at the Poly when great codes came out. I think the first time we stayed there it was $120 a night! We are now paying more for POFQ.Now they are older and going out on thier own mom and dad can save some on hotels.

Our Last Day Together!-Animal Kingdom

Well, we couldn’t believe that the trip was almost over :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:
…it really goes by toooo quick!

So, the Friends had to check out of the hotel that morning. We weren’t leaving until the next day. They loaded the car and we went to the food court for breakfast. After a quick bite, (yummy french toast and pancakes here I tell you!) we headed to the bus depot to go to AK.
I was most worried about this day because there was a 60% chance of rain :scared: and I knew that there were not many places to go into at AK,…you know me..my control thing and all, so I figured the sooner we got there, the more we could do.

The bus came soon and we were off to AK. So far it was bright and sunny, :) but the weather guy said that around lunch time, the clouds would take over and we would be in the downpours again. :sad1: We got to AK and decided to get fp’s for the safari ride and then go into the Lion King show since we were near and it was getting ready to begin. The Friends loved that show. I always like it too, especially the bird girl and the monkeys! They commented on the level of talent that they had seen in shows at Disney. It’s truly top notch in my opinion!

So after that we went on the Safari ride and while we were on there, of course we had a rain shower, but at least we were dry! We saw tons of animals that day, more than I had ever seen in one tour! It was awesome! After that we decided to go ahead and eat lunch at Pizzafari. We didn’t want the huge line like we had yesterday. DF and I got into line to get food while the husbands went to get fp’s for Everest. We were glad to see NO LINE for lunch like we had yesterday. Much more calming to a control freak like me too! We needed to eat lunch early today too because we had adr’s at 1900 Park Fare at 4:30.

After a nice lunch, (and more yummy chocolate cake) we went to see “It’s Tough to Be A Bug” and we all loved it as usual. I love waiting to go in the theater in the cave area where you hear the bugs humming and I love the bug eye glasses! :goodvibes DF’s daughter had finally relaxed (on the last day no less) and started to have a great time and we were all happy that so far… the rain hadn’t been too bad. After that, we went over to dino land and the bigger braver ones were going to ride. DD-2 and I went into the gift shop at the exit to wait and had a good time reading the kid’s dino books and playing with the stuffed dinosaurs. While we were in there, the bottom dropped out I tell you and it rained buckets! I was worried about the big brave ones being able to ride Everest as I heard thunder in the background! I think it must have rained for about 45 minutes and then, lo and behold, the rain stopped and the sun came out again! :cool1: I couldn’t believe it! The Everest trip would take place! Before Everest, they rode the dino roller coaster thing and I took dd-2 on the little dumbo dinosaur ride…can’t remember the name at the moment…Then, while the other’s went to Everest, DF and I took dd-2 in to see Nemo and we had great seats. On our last trip we were on the VERY LAST ROW AT THE TOP, and it was not a good experience, so I was excited that we had great seats this time. We all really enjoyed the show and when we got out, the big brave ones had returned from Everest and it was time for us to go to Park Fare. It had been a good day. We worked around the rain and were able to ride everything that they wanted except Kali River Rapids, so, again, another reason to come back! So, off to the bus stop. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a bus, and all the while, thunder rumbled in the background. We were glad that we would be inside for the rest of the evening!

So, we headed on to the GF. I love this hotel and this restaurant. The last time that we were there, dd-2 got to dance with Prince Charming and it was so sweet! She will still show you the hand that he kissed! She loves Cinderella too so this is her favorite place. She thinks that the GF is Cinderella’s castle! The Friends were in awe as we walked into the lobby, just as we had been on our first visit. We were seated quickly and began our meal. The food was delicious as usual and the characters were great. I think that the Friends liked this dinner more than all of the others. The restaurant is beautiful and you just feel like royalty eating there! After our meal, we looked around a little and then decided to ride the monorail. I wanted the friends to see the lobby of the Contemporary. So we got onto the monorail and they loved the Contemporary. We got off at the tcc and rode over to Epcot. We were sad that we hadn’t gotten park hoppers so we could go into Epcot again, but the Friends were leaving that night, so they wanted to get on the road. So, we got on the POR bus and headed back. It was sad to see them go, because they had had such a great time and as always, it’s sad to leave the world! :sad1: We had done it, we had won them over to the World! We now had this bond in common and were so glad that we got to share this together! We were sad to see them get into their car to leave! The only happy note was that we were going to MK again tomorrow before our flight home, so at least we had one more day of magic left! Coming up…our last day of magic!:goodvibes
