The Tag Fairy

i sent tinkhappy a pm and asked if those were 2 new tags.

if they are and they came from this thread, i am going to tell mom on her.

Ok....we'll see what she says! If they are new, that will be fun for her to come back and see them....colors and all! :goodvibes

I can't tell if she got them here or on another board.....**sigh** :rotfl:

Stroke-smoke...I spent the last few minutes popping my eyes back in!

BTW, my head's been in the bowl of Chex Party mix, cookie tray, chips & dip, left over Xmas dinner...not a pretty picture.

Star War Movie Marathon.... a long time, in a galaxy far, far away, there lived a Tag Fairy who rewarded all true believers in the DIS force.

I'm looking for the force tonight, middle DS failed his eye test for police acad today. Hope, taking him to another eye dr. will slip him in under the requirement. Since he's scheduled to start next week (and tuition & uniforms are already paid for, don't know how this slipped thru the cracks). He's inconsolable, has wanted to be a cop since he was a toddler...wish him luck.

Ok I tried to post here and it just disappeared. Now I'm gonna try again and I bet it will miraculously show up again and then there will be 2 and i'll look silly again. Oh well.
Anyway...keisha...what does your sons vision have to test at to pass? I have to pass a physical and vision every year and it totally stresses me out. Initially it was 20/20 corrected and 20/200 uncorrected. I was fine corrected but was 20/400 uncorrected in one eye. So my eye doctor told me to pull down the outside corner of my eye to help me focus when i took the test. I know that sounds silly but it worked for my purposes, and ive had my job for 19 years. Of course now its that pesky near vision part that I keep flunking...oh well. ;)

linda linda..........eh, you don't fly a plane do you???

well, if you did, i'm sure you see fine in the sky........

i would be a passenger on that plane you flew...........

keishashadow....your son wants to be a cop.......wow....so does my youngest.

he is studying law enforcement/criminal justice degree at college.

crossing my fingers, and eyes that all goes well for him on the eye exam.

pst: bribe the doc, promise him a tag......

:sunny: no, macraven, i dont fly the plane, i just tell it where to go. :cool1:

I always said the person in the tower is the one I hope is on the ball! Always loved to fly until we started using AirTran, not sure why (plane smaller, lousier flight route, etc.) but we hit nothing but turbulence from start to finish. Seatbelt signs almost always on, good thing I've got a strong bladder.LOL Any input lindalinda?

BTW, thanks for the eye exam hint - can't hurt to try it out. Unfortunately, he has to wait for Lasik (19, eyes still changing)...will report if this works.

macraven, small world...we've got a lot of similarities (of course I'm the one w/o any tags). My DS barely squeeked through his year of CC. He's always scored well on intelligence tests, but never did well in school - too busy being popular. Additionally, I think he's got some form of ADD that keeps him from concentrating on "book learning". Quite talented in performing arts & writing; but ex & I were are odds at getting him officially tested. Hate to think of the struggle of another year @ college with courses he has no interest in...

Anyway, PA uses the MPOEATC physical test. Their vision criteria is: "The applicant must have distant vision of at least 20/70, uncorrected, in the stronger eye, correctable to 20/20; and at least 20/200, uncorrected, in the weaker eye, correctable to at least 20/40; and must be free of any significant visual abnorality" i.e. normal depth & color perception & free from any other significant visual abnormalities. If the applicant's hearing or vision does not meet the requirements above, the applicant is unfit.

What a mouthful, since his vision is in the are of 20/500 uncorrected it will be a stretch to pull it off. He does correct to 20/20 and plans on the lasik procedure.

I'm just PO'd that 1 week before entrance to the county-run academy, this shows up...should have been caught much earlier in the process (before uniforms, gear & admission was paid). He passed their preliminary physical & psych exam. Besides that, my DS is devastated...my heart is breaking for him.

a whole lot of pixie dust and

for your son. you knew it grew on trees didn't you...

this is a sad situation but maybe its not going to be an issue and he can still get in.

crossing fingers and everything else i have here for him...

:wave2:

Not sure whether I'm moreso ecstatic or shocked....

DS's dad took him to "his" eye dr this afternoon & he passed the test.

As reported earlier, his regular eye dr. said it would take a miracle.

Whether it was the Pixie Dust, a miracle or mere incompetence...we'll take it. Of course, he'll be on the table for Lasik as soon as he's eligible....still shaking my head in disbelief.

woo hoo..........your son is now in like flint.

i love quack doctors......i mean good doctors...
