The "table for three" myth BUSTED!!

Guess what? There really ARE tables for three at some restaurants! We sat at them in both Boma and Kona Cafe! These are square tables that could seat four, but are pushed up against a wall or window, so only three chairs fit around the table. There was clearly NO space to pull these tables out so they could seat four; they were strictly tables for three!

Of course, there were only TWO of us...go figure!

And at Ohana too! We went to breakfast there on Saturday, just DH and myself, and we were seated at a large table pushed against the windows with 3 chairs.

We sat at one in The Plaza and in Chef Mickey's this weekend. They were against the wall kind of in a corner with 3 chairs. Would have been difficult to squeeze in a 4th chair at these spots.

Yep dh and I have sat at those tables at all those restaurants. But those are the only restaurants we've seen them in.

Same for 1900 Park. Last December we were a party of 3 and they had a table pushed against the wall. No room for them to pull out to make a table for 4.

Hmmm, never heard any discussion on "tables for 3" but I've known for a while that Boma has at least one. I sat there with my parents last fall.

The "table for 3" discussion has come up on threads about making ADR's. Basically, people trying to make an ADR for 3 will be told there are no ressies left for parties of three, "but if there were 4 in your group...", as if the CM is suggesting they will make a ressie for 4 even if you only have 3. Usually the thread deteriorates into an arguement about how it's "wrong" to make adr's for 4 if there are only 3 in your party (i.e., you are taking a table away from a party of 4, designated by the disney rules) which is countered by the question "how can there be a table for three, who's ever seen a triangular table" etc. line of thought. ANyhow, I thought it was interesting to see that there really ARE tables for 3!!

Along the windows at the Crystal Palace and along the half wall at Boma the tables all bump up against the wall. Last year those tables had either 2 to 5 at them. The ones surrounding our 4 top had 5 and 3 at them however all three tables were the same size.:confused3

That's kind of funny - I just found out about the table(s) for three at 'Ohana, from a CM when I was asking about adding a person to a current reservation-for-three at a different location. She told me my restaurant of choice does not have three-person tables, but (specifically) 'Ohana does.

Thanks everyone...I tried every restaurant I could think of for a reservation for three, no availability anywhere for the night I wanted. Called our first choice, asked for a table for 4 and what do you know..a reservation was available.

they have done that to us many times.. its crowded to say the least... The last one I recall was at the princess breakfast in epcot.. :rolleyes1 its never been a issue getting the ADR its just where they put us is..

It all makes sense now!!!!

I called last month to make a ressie for a party of 7 and the CM said sorry there is nothing available but there is for a party of 8???

I was sooo confused and now I get it haha.

Note to self, always have even numbers :rotfl2:
