The Summer of Disney - Two trips in two months! June & July, 2010

It's an in and out errand kind of day, but I'll keep an eye out for your update!

Chapter 3: MSEP!

After our afternoon break, we headed back to the boat launch and went back to MK... it was the first official night for the MSEP! We staked out some prime Main Street real estate, and I headed over to Casey's to get dinner. It was here I learned that Smudge is really NOT a fan of fried foods. :sad2:

We ate our dinner as we waited for the parade to start, and talked with the people sitting around us. I also took pictures, but I still haven't located them, so I'll update this post as soon as they reappear.

We didn't really enjoy MSEP - we both think Spectro is much better and more enjoyable. I'm glad we waited to watch it, but it's not on the list for next week's trip. After the parade, we headed back to VWL for the evening. Smudge's dislike of fried foods was getting to be too much for me, so I decided I should go back to the room and rest. It was an early night, but it needed to be, because the next morning, we had our first-ever character meal!

(pictures will be added soon, I promise! I just have to find them!)

Chapter 4: A Character Meal on a Dreary Day (Monday, June 7, 2010)

We were up early on our first full day at Disney. We had a before-the-park-opens breakfast reservation, so we needed to get to the bus quickly. I believe we were at the bus stop a little after 7:00am to head to the park. We waited about 20 minutes for the bus, and soon we were on our way. This was the scene when we arrived at the park:

All of these people are lined up at the turnstiles over an hour before park opening, and this was NOT the breakfast ressie line. We made it through the turnstiles pretty quickly, although my AP acted up a bit (this would be a recurring issue throughout the trip, and if it happens again next week, I'm making them reprint it!). Ahhh, to be in a practically empty park.

I took several pictures as we walked to our ressie:

We also stopped for a couple of PhotoPass pics, but those aren't in photobucket yet, so I'll update with them later. Soon, we arrived here:

We checked in, and had a very short wait for a table. Our table was decorated since we were celebrating DH's birthday:

After sitting, we headed to the buffet:

As soon as we returned to the table, we had our first character visitor... my favorite!

Followed quickly by:

While we were waiting for our last visitor, DH was given a birthday cupcake and card from the characters:
P6070113.jpg

Since it was supposed to be a short morning, we didn't have a bag with us in the park... this would prove to be very, very bad, with regard to DH's birthday card.

Finally, just as we were going to give up, we had our final visitor of the morning:

Bellies full, we headed out into the dreary morning, right as the crowds started coming down Main Street.

Up next: Fantasyland at rope drop!

Ummm...that breakfast looked good!

:lmao: Why is it that it looks like some of the characters are sitting on your DH's lap?

And I LOVE  Eeyore's signature!! What a great, happy start to your day (and hopefully Smudge enjoyed your breakfast much better)! ;)

All caught up with your TR....and congratulations on your "SMUDGE" !!

Thanks, and welcome!

Breakfast WAS good, and I don't even usually like breakfast. Smudge seemed to enjoy it much more than dinner at Casey's the night before!

Wow a cupcake and a card that's impressive!

I know!

All caught up! Looks like you had a great time. Glad you enjoyed Wilderness Lodge. The theming is amazing, isn't it?

LOVE Eeyore's signature with the rain cloud over it. Too cute!!!

Do I mind a two trips in one report??? Heck, no! Have a great time!! :)

My pal, Eeyore!
I was glad to see my Hundred Acre Wood friends today. I needed a smile to help fight back some tears, and DIS friends always come through at just the rght time. :thumbsup2

I will be interested to see what becomes the fate of the birthday card.

Great empty street pictures, too.

Love the CP pictures! I love that place, we have eaten there every trip and I hope to do so on the next trip!

Chapter 5: A Fantasyland Morning

After finishing our breakfast at CP, we strolled leisurely over to Fantasyland, and made it in time for rope drop. Our plan was to ride the few Fantasyland rides we'd never done (or hadn't done since we were kids), and then head out of MK since we'd done so much the day before. There was almost no one with us when the rope dropped:
P6070126.jpg

But we made a major tactical error... we went here first:
P6070127.jpg

We enjoyed it, but I still don't understand how the line for it gets SOOO long later in the day!

We should have gone here first, instead... but we still waited the nearly 30 minutes to go on it anyway:
P6070128.jpg

I'm really glad we decided to go ahead and ride Dumbo, even with the wait... because from up in the air, we could see some of the Fantasyland renovations happening:

And my favorite shot of MK from the air:
P6070132.jpg

After flying with the elephants, we walked around a bit in Fantasyland. Here are some of the signs for what's to come...
P6070137.jpg

P6070138.jpg

At this point, we decided we were done with Fantasyland for the morning (we've ridden everything else before, and planned on coming back to MK at least one more time), so we headed to Tomorrowland, where we rode
P6070142.jpg

I can't remember if we rode once or twice, but when we came out, it was POURING.

P6070146.jpg

We waited under the awning by the Noodle Terrace for it to let up, and I took pictures to pass the time.

One the rain slowed down, we headed towards the front of the park. On the way, we decided we'd take the monorail to Epcot instead of going back to VWL.
P6070150.jpg

P6070153.jpg

It was on the monorail to Epcot that we realized DH's birthday card from CP was missing. :scared1: We think that he must have set it down on the seat next to him while we were riding Buzz, and forgotten to grab it as we exited the ride. I offered to go back to MK & go to Buzz to see if it had been turned in, but DH said it was ok, so we continued on to Epcot.

Up next: A rainy afternoon at Epcot

We really loved the theming at VWL! It's a beautiful resort. Glad you don't mind two trips in one... I don't think I'll be able to get the June trip done before I leave on Tuesday for the next one!

My pal, Eeyore!

I'm glad Eeyore was able to cheer you up! The fate of the birthday card is in the newest update...

Thanks for the compliment on the pictures!

Love the CP pictures! I love that place, we have eaten there every trip and I hope to do so on the next trip!

We really enjoyed CP, especially since it was our first character meal. We're trying a different character breakfast next week... it'll be interesting to see which one we like better!

Chapter 6: A Rainy Afternoon at Epcot

When I left off, we were on the monorail headed from MK to Epcot, and had just realized that DH had lost his birthday card from CP. We'd noticed when we left MK that there were TONS of people getting off the monorail... as we approached the Ticket & Transportation Center, we realized why. Look at this crowd!!!
P6070156.jpg

There were also a ton of people waiting on the Epcot monorail, I'm guessing because of the crowds headed towards MK. It wasn't too bad, though, and soon enough we reached our destination.

P6070159.jpg

P6070160.jpg

Since it was still rainy, our first stop at Epcot was Innoventions. We decided to try some things for the first time. We started here:

DH & our piggy:

P6070164.jpg

The Piggy Bank game was fun, and we reached our savings goals! I think we were saving for Smudge's college, LOL.

Next up, we decided to make the velcro froggies.

P6070166.jpg

Then we decided to go over here:
P6070167.jpg

After we'd exhausted that side of Innoventions, we headed to Sunshine Seasons for lunch. Look at the crowds!
P6070168.jpg

I thought I had pictures of lunch, but I guess not. I'm pretty sure we split some sort of sandwich.

Next up, since it was still raining on and off, we headed over here:
P6070170.jpg

P6070171.jpg

We "snuck" in through the gift shop area rather than waiting in the line for the Nemo ride, and spent some time in the aquarium. Again, I seem to be missing some pictures, or maybe I just didn't take any since we have tons from past trips.

After we finished in the Seas pavilion, we decided to head back to VWL. The rain was still hanging around, and we were ready for an afternoon break. We probably stopped in MouseGear on the way back to the front of the park, since we always do, but I don't seem to have photo proof of that. I don't remember a long wait for the bus, and it was a quick ride back to VWL from Epcot. Soon, we were enjoying water and air conditioning in the room.

Up next: What will we do for dinner?

I think John looks very cute with his little froggy on his tummy!
Honestly, you made the most of a rainy day. We never seem to spend enough time in the innovations buildings.
The next time it rains that's where we should go. I want to try that "Star in Your Own Video Game" attraction.
What did you think of it?

It was cute. I felt really silly while filming the actions, but then when we got to play the actual game, it was a lot more fun. It was definitely a good place to spend a rainy day.

Chapter 7: Still Drizzly at DTD!

After our afternoon break, we decided we were hungry. It was approaching dinnertime, so what better place to go than
P6070174.jpg

P6070175.jpg

For some reason, in all our trips to Disney, this was the first time I'd ever taken the camera to DTD! We wandered through some shops on the way to our dinner destination.

We contemplated buying this for the baby's room:

We decided against it at the time, but it might get ordered next week...

When we finished browsing the Art of Disney, we headed to eat.

We really, really enjoyed this particular pizza. And the food was more than enough for the two of us for dinner. After we ate, we continued browsing through DTD.

When we got down to the West Side, we headed over to that bus stop to head back to VWL. It was a relatively early evening, but that's fairly normal for us at WDW - we do the early morning wake-ups instead of staying out late!

Up next: Where do we go on Day 3?

Loyal readers, we leave again tomorrow morning for the 2nd trip of this trip report! I'm not taking the laptop with me, so there will be no updates until Wednesday, August 4 when we get home, but I promise to do at least one update a day that week to get the June trip finished up and the July/August trip started before I go back to work and have to slow down again. I hope everyone has a great week, and I'll "see" you all when we get back. If you're interested in following along on this trip on Facebook, PM me!

Have fun! MeMom is looking for a Rafiki plush, you might take a fb pic if you happen to see one! I know she want's one big enough for a bulletin board...
I will think of you having a wonderful time at Disney as I work away getting my classroom ready for another year!
Remember no fried foods for Smudge!!
