The State Farm "Smell My Beard" Commercial

we use State Farm, but I can't stand any of their newer commercials. I skip over them all the time. That beard one is just plain gross, you are right

All of those various car insurance commercials seem to be competing with each other as to who can have the dumbest ad. Seems like their marketing departments think someone who is 8 yrs old buys car insurance. Most of them never even talk about insurance and have some unrelated soap opera antics going on.

How traditional TV even watchable to most people? A 4 hour football game with 2 hours of commercials and 10 minutes of action? How can people suffer through that?

I use the mute button a lot when watching TV. Lately it is a lot of political ads, lawyers asking you to join some lawsuit or the endless ads for various prescription drugs. I would imagine doctors waste a LOT of time explaining to their patients why some drug isn't suitable for them. It isn't like buying laundry detergent or toothpaste......LOL.

I don't watch anything that has ads at home. I was watching something on a Roku on the Roku channels with my daughter that had ad breaks. It wasn't all that intrusive, just 30 second ads during scene changes as it was a live musical we were watching. I noticed however that about 90% of it was propaganda being shoved at the viewer.

I don't know what regular cable/Satellite commercials are like these days, haven't seen one in years.

The Lume ads for reducing butt odor are worse in my book.

Yes! I hate those commercials so much and all of these commercials for things regarding, you know, that area. They used to be subtle about it. An after-shower odor control would have been called just that, no need to say exactly where you need to use it. Hair trimmers - yeah, we know what you can use them for, I don't need singing cartoon hairs - not "fine upstanding head hairs either" (Simpsons joke).... It's getting to be a bit much!

Haven't seen that State Farm one - yikes! I try to avoid commercials as much as possible by DVRing most things so I can fast forward through them.

I mean, that has little to nothing to do with cable and more to do with football itself. How are you going to watch a football game live otherwise?

It's usually a 3 hour game (one round at 1pm and the next round at 4pm). The Super Bowl goes longer because of the half time show and extra ceremony.
Commercials are time to go pee, get snacks, kill time on my phone, etc.

Football actually became popular because it is so "TV friendly" and the networks knew it. They pushed it because of the ample opportunities for commercials and it is as popular as it is today because of that exposure.

No I get that. The way the post I quoted was worded was like you could watch it without the commercials or breaks. Which you can, if you don't watch it live, which kinda defeats the purpose a bit.

That beard one is just awful. Makes me gag!!! The one where she declares she hides shrimp tails under her bed is another horror.
