Stanley Cup to appear on property May 25

The Stanley Cup, the championship trophy sought by every team in the National Hockey League, will appear in front of Team Mickey's Athletic Club at Downtown Disney Marketplace on May 25 from noon-2 p.m.
The Stanley Cup, one of the oldest trophies in sports, got its start in 1892, when Lord Kilcoursie, an Ottawa hockey player, arrived at an Ottawa Amateur Athletic Association dinner with a message from Lord Stanley, the Governor General of Canada. The message began, "I have for some time been thinking that it would be a good thing if there were a challenge cup which should be held from year to year by the champion hockey team in the Dominion (of Canada)."
Lord Stanley later purchased a silver cup for about $50 and established conditions to govern the annual competition for the cup. The Montreal Amateur Athletic Association hockey club became the first to win the Stanley Cup in 1893. Since then, championship teams have had their names etched onto silver rings fitted to the cup.
This year, the National Hockey League's Tampa Bay Lightning will battle the Calgary Flames for the right to hoist Lord Stanley's cup and mark their place in hockey history.
