"the splash" on Splash Mountain ??

I've rode Splash Mountain many times and it never fails that I get the most wet not at the bottom of the big hill, but going up one of those first hills where the water sprays at your boat while another boat/log is going down the big hill. I think you all know where I'm talking about! :lmao: Anyways, I recall seeing online somewhere at the beginning of this year where people thought that the "spray" had been... repositioned I guess, so that the guests in the log didn't get so wet. Can anyone confirm that? Maybe that was only done in the colder months for the comfort of the guests?? Just curious. We'll be there next month and our DD5 doesn't like to get that wet so I always try to "shield" her with my body... of course that means I get super wet!:rotfl:

We were there the last two weeks of August and we noticed all the cannons/sprays were not hitting people. The only time we got wet is when we were sitting in the front row, and barely at that. We were highly disapointed at not getting wet in the August heat. We also noticed it didnt spray the walkway by splash anymore.

I know exactly what you mean. Until last year, I barely got wet, then on both trips last year (Oct. and May) we got soaked by the water cannons.

Here is our experience from this past May. We rode Splash in the morning and the spray from the water cannons was practically non-existent compared to what we had experienced the previous year. We rode in the morning. We went back in the evening. I passed, but my DD and her friend rode. They, and many of the other riders that I saw coming off the ride, were soaked. It appears that at some point during the day they cranked up the cannons.

Whether we and the several logs in front of us just got lucky in the morning, or they cranked up the cannons once the heat really set in for the day, I couldn't say.

You could also try putting your DD in a poncho for the ride. I usually wear them for both Splash Mountain and Kilimanjaro Safaris.

That's no fun! It's called "Splash Mountain" for a reason!

Yep, it's Splash Mountain not soaked to the skin mountain. Getting splashed and a little wet was ok but it had gotten to the point that you were soaked and stayed that way for a long time. That wasn't fun for a lot of us and many people complained about it.

I know that during cooler months the cannons have less power, but the rain it provided to the bridge was awesome. I have a short clip of DD (then 4) jumping up and down, singing 'pixie dust, pixie dust' waiting for the spray as if it were some kind of magic shower (which BTW I'm totally convinced it is).

Hope this is not sth Disney has decided to discontinue, cause in less than two months We'll be standing on that same bridge claiming our pixie dust to be delivered! :goodvibes

On our trip last week, there were no cannons and only got wet when sitting in the front (not Kali River Rapids wet, was dry in 30 minutes.) Also, I thought you could get wet on the bridge, was that changed with the refurb or am I imagining you could get wet there?

no, you could get wet there..they changed it.

It used to be every third boat I belive but now it is gone completely.

I would be glad if the cannon is gone. We were SOAKED!!!!! I wanted to get a little wet, not that wet. It was a long uncomfortable day.

The LAST time I rode splash mountain was the first time one of those rediculous cannons soaked me. Prior to those things, you could control, to a reasonable degree, how wet you got. I would sit in the back of the car and duck at the bottom. I stayed pretty dry. If you didn't duck or rode up front, you could get pretty wet. The cannons are merciless.

I will not ride that ride again, much to the chagrin of my daughter, until they are removed....if they ever do remove them. But with that ride consistently being one of the longest waits in the park, maybe they will up the flow of the cannons to keep more people off it.

I've also noticed that if you are one of the people sitting on the 'passengers side" (or the last one to get in at loading) that you tend to get wet from the water fall going up one of the hills. Those have gotten me wet more times than sitting in the front row! And then if you lean away from it, you have to sit back down in the water on your seat! :rotfl: So, I just go with it and know I'll be getting wet one way or the other :thumbsup2

We rode Splash twice during our trip in late August and I joked that I only got sprinkled instead of splashed  I inquired about this with a ride attendant and he said that they changed the water features of the ride because too many people complained that they got too wet on the ride.

I took a squirt to the face just after you go through the bird area at the beginning. It caught me by surprise.. i hope its still there.

My DH and I noticed a difference in the cannon this year as well. We have been in July both years, last year we got soaked by the cannons you are talking about....this year not so much (And let me tell you, I rode it several times lol). Now you would figure July would be the time they would have them running.

One time while riding it we got to looking to over where the cannons are located....there are several "pipes" stick up out of the water, some short, some taller, some skinny, some fatter....the big fat ones (which are the "big soakers") didn't have any water coming out of them. The smaller, skinner ones are the ones they have water coming out of...and by time the water comes over to the log it is just drops.

So our conclusions, they haven't taken the cannons out but have stopped them from running....probably because too many people complained as 2Pirates2Princesses pointed out of what the ride attendant said.

I was about to complain because it was August and I rode a ride called splash moutain and got a drop of water on me. I would have been wetter walking past a cm with a mister fan lol. I was very upset. I was not happy when i saw the boat timed just right and did not even get a sprinkle. I was hot stood in line to cool of and did not get wet. I am happy to say, the second time I did get wet.

The cannons and things can be turned off when it is cold, but should never be off in August!

I will be disappointed if there is nothing but in the last couple years it was beyond soaking and last year it was, as budbeerlady says, a long uncomfortable day.

They would have been better throttling the effect back a bit to the splash level. I seem to remember a few years ago that it was less and you did get wet but not soaked by the cannon.

That's good to hear. I always dreaded the first hill because I never knew if I was going to get soaked or not.
