The Silhouette Ladies on Main Street

Would love to have one done of our family in Disneyland ... is there a limit to the number of people they can do? There are 3 of us ....

I think they can do up to 4.

Sylvia is amazing, she did such a great job that I was a little disappointed in the silhouettes another one of the gals did for us most recently. They just weren't quite as accurate and I was mad at myself for not coming back when Sylvia was there.

Thank you for linking to that lady's framed pic, so cute! I had thought of doing something like that with my silhouette, but hadn't actually done anything yet.

Has anyone actually had any "characters" done in theirs? I know one person said Snow White. I know they have the samples up... so cute with Mickey or Minnie :)

I think these are so cool. My brother and I had seperate ones done when we were little. He passed away from cancer 6 years ago and this is a great memento to have. When we took my son's in 2008, I had some made of them too so now all four hang together in my house.

I just took a look at Pixie's silhouettes, they look really very nice. Very professional quality. It is very nice looking the way she had it decorated too.

Haha, yeah they definatley know what they are doing. I remember when I went there for the first time how amazed I was at how fast they did it. It's like they're working on it one second, and the next it's done. It's pretty amazing and I would also reccomend it. You won't regret it.:worship:

Have you all gotten silhouettes done at the little shop on Main Street? We did it this time, and it was absolutely incredible! What an amazing, overlooked art! The lady we talked with had been doing them for 36 years. She had a tiny pair of scissors, and while chatting with my kids for about 20 seconds, little paper bits flying, she made their silhouettes. I swear, she hardly seemed to look at the paper or their profiles, but somehow captured them exactly.

Anyhow, I was amazed, and thought that it was an absolute bargain of a souvenir. I highly recommend it.

We had Sylvia, she was AMAZING!!!!!! Absolutely amazing. :) You get 2 sets, I gave 1 to my Mom and she loves it. I didn't frame hers with the pins tho. LOL

I have a friend who got a silhouette done at DL as a kid, and her mom got one as well, and she took her son to get one a couple of years ago - just to carry on the family tradition.

Actually, one of our wonderful DIS-ers here, Pixiewings71 (Kerri), had a silhouette done - a family portrait in silhouette form, basically - and she very cleverly framed it and placed Disney character silhouette pins all around the perimeter of the silhouettes themselves. It was one of the coolest things I have seen - hats off to Kerri for her creativity! I hope she catches this thread and posts the photo of her fabulous DL silhouette frame and pins so you all can see how cool it is!! It would make an excellent gift!

Awwww Sherry! :)

Does anyone know if they will do it off of a photo? Or will they only do it off an actual live model? I was wondering if they would do silhouettes of my two dogs.

We asked when we were there because we saw one they had of Lady and the Tramp and she said she could absolutely use a photo to have these done. :)

I guess Kerri/Pixiewings71 has not seen this thread yet. So I found her post (in a thread about pin collecting) with the photo of her framed silhouette and the surrounding silhouette pins - it is the very last photo in the post. It's so cool!! Here's the link:

Here's another photo so everyone can see it, it's still my favorite. :)

Thanks for the kind words everyone, it really is my favorite set of pins. :)

I love these and also think they are a great bargin. We went at night last June and had my just turned 2 year old daughters done. The girl who did our's was just ok, she actually wasn't very nice and I felt like we were bothering her. We were the only ones there and DD actually did really good and sat in my lap and looked at the picture thing the whole time. She was a younger lady, not sure of her name. Anyhow, I heard here about them holding them for you, so I kinda hinted that I hoped I didn't ruin it now and how do I keep it safe and she just said something about how she put cardboard around it. Anyhow, on our next trip back, we are doing it again, and I will look for Sylvia for sure!!! And buy the frame, I didn't and kick myself left and right and will buy one for the one we already have next time we go.

Anyone know how often Sylvia works? We're going in May and I might consider doing this since we missed it the girls' first time around.

We had our 4 kids done back in October. Sorry, I don't remember the ladies name, but I can't say she was overly friendly, maybe it was just an off day. I remember she kept taking her scissors and hitting the little sticker board in front of the kids, I guess to keep their attention there, but I found it more distracting. She got my 7 year old spot on, but like a PP, I don't really see my other kids in their profiles too well. Maybe as they grow older I will see more of them in it.

I'd still recommend doing it, since it is a more personalized and affordable souvenier.

I have one from when I was 12. I had forgotten about it until I just saw this post, that would be super cute to get it done of my three kids when we go later this month.

Awwww Sherry! :)

Yay! :cool1: Kerri finally made it over here! I was thnking to myself, "Kerri? Where's Kerri? Where did Kerri go?" I was about to send you an e-mail to tell you that there was a thread discussing your great silhouette frame and to hurry and get over here!:rotfl:

I love going into the list of my subscribed threads in my User CP - that (and a fairly good memory on my part) is how I find a lot of old threads or posts that I post links for if the topic dictates it!! So I remembered it was a pin-related thread where you posted your photo, and I found it in my subscribed threads!! Is your cork board totally different than what it was in that other thread?

Anyway, I am so glad you posted a photo of the awesome silhouette frame right here in the thread - it's so much faster and easier for people to see it that way than having to follow the link I posted earlier!

Anybody ever see them do a baby? I would like to get both kids done.

LOL We had a busy weekend so I wasn't really around. :) I was more than happy to post it again, I really do love it. :) My Tink cork board is so much fuller now, it's almost completely full now! LOL

I was wondering the same thing?

I haven't seen them do babies but you could always take a photo in and they will use that to do the silhouette.

How much are the silhouettes? Someone mentioned getting two for the price of one, how does that work? Is it something with the way they cut it, or did I just completely misread a previous post?

You pay $9 per person. You get the one silhouette, then the mirror image of the same silhouette -- if that makes sense. So with my 3 boys we paid $27 and got 2 silhouettes of each of them.

I'm so glad I read this thread! I have been hoping to come across a "sentimental souvenir" idea to commemorate my kids' first trip to DL. I can't wait to find this shop and have all 3 of my kiddos done (after staking it out to make sure Sylvia is working when we do!!) ;)

They did my son when he was 9 months. It turned out wonderful.

One reminder: take off hats!! ODD was wearing a hat in December and they did the silhouette with her hat. We didn't remember to remove it and they didn't ask if we wanted it with or without the hat on.

The other thing that is wonderful with Sylvia is that she can eliminate "Splash Mountain hair" with but a snip of her scissors. We went in for a trio silhouette of DH, DD(15) and myself. I lamented the condition of my bob, which at that point was flipping every which way due to two very drenching rides (you know, when you are waiting to go the big hill and get hit by the splash from the log coming down the big drop). She assured me not to worry- and voila- in the silhouette my hair is perfectly coiffed!:woohoo:
