Over all it was great, cant complain, I was at Disney right, Well.... Saturday POP didn't have our rooms ready till AFTER 3PM, we arrived at about 11am. I guess not prepared with a proper change of clothes. We had two small children with us and they were exhausted by the time we were able to get into our rooms. Needless to say, didn't do a park that day.

Sunday was good, went to MGM, had lots of fun.
Sunday night, here comes the hurricane.. OH BOY.. NO big deal though, cause the next day on Monday they open up the parks at 1pm. Went to MK had fun, no lines for attractions, the sun was shining.
Left MK kind of early, had a PS at 'Ohanas 7pm that night. This was GREAT!! Except they took the shrimp wantons off of the menu. KIDS loved all the games they played, I was fun.

KEEP IN MIND, THE TEMP> DROPPED, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT, FREEZING, as low as 49 degrees maybe lower?? Im not prepared with proper attire. Just wore the same MM sweat jacket EVERYday..
Tuesday, back to MK, had PS CRT 8:50 am. This day was also a lot of fun. LOVE MK, my fav park!

Wednesday, EPCOT.. oh here it comes.. The mental breakdown happens this day (we had 13 people in our group includes 2 teens, 2 small children 5 and 2) The 2 year old doesn't want to leave his parents, so its always an ordeal when they want to ride rides and he cant because he is too small. I start feeling really worn down, I dont know why? I think, maybe its all the stress, people starting to argue a little bit. As everyone calms down and starts to work their way around WS, Im getting worse and worse. At this point I have to leave and go back to the resort to rest. Its around 6:30 by this time. Get back to the room, and I sleep from 700 all the way through to the next morning. When I wake up on Thursday, I know something was seriously wrong with me. My throat is swollen, my head hurts, can barely stand. My Mom starts to freak and calls the front desk to see about a doctor.
Yes, I went to see a doctor and found out I had strep throat. SO MAD!! and SO SICK! If anyone ever needs a doctor while at WDW they come and pick you up with a shuttle and will take you to Wallgreens to get your prescription.

So, I end up missing that whole day at the AK, I slept ALL day on Thursday then forced myself to go to MNSSHP that night. I lasted there about 2 hours, before I had to go back to the room again.

By Friday I was pretty much fully functional, except I couldn't swallow without being in pain. Im still hurting even now when I try to swallow. Friday was good, went back to MGM, did some rides and some shopping. Went to DTDFriday night, tried to catch up on more shopping.

Saturday we left by 1pm , flight left at 3pm.. Arrived home in a timely manner.

I have some pics I will post, once I figure out how?? I did meet up with a DIS couple one day at the MK. I will post the picture, eventually. They were really nice.

PS--- I LOVED SOARIN!!! I wish I could have rode it again. That was my really sick day. Oh well, next time :)

Besides missing out on a few days at the parks and a few attractions like (SPLASH) didnt ride it on Monday or Tuesday, thought I would wait till MNSSHP with no lines. Did not plan on being sick. I decided to skip it this trip because of the way I was feeling.
Overall had a great trip... I cant wait to go back. I want to start planning soon!!

Thanks for the report. I'm so sorry you were sick. That had to be such a disappointment. We were there at the same time (10/25 - 10/30). We each had to wear the same sweatshirt every day, and they were pretty smelly by the time we got home. I really want to post my trip report, but am having problems. I spend all this time typing it up, and then it won't post. I keep getting a message that it's a duplicate thread. I'll try again tomorrow.

I had the same problem posting. I must have re-did my reports over and over again and finally it worked. Its really not that great of a trip report, but a least I was able to post something.

I hope you can post your report soon. I would love to read it!! Especially because we were there during the same time!! :sunny:

I will keep checking!!

Good luck!!

A Hurricane AND Strep throat!? Wow, you were a trooper. Sorry to hear about your illness...hope you can get back to WDW sometime in the future to make up for a couple missed park days!

Gotta love the mental breakdowns! Every trip there's always one or two...it's all part of the fun!

As far as the mental breakdowns. ALWAYS happen, right? LOL :rotfl2: Except they seem to be more intense the LARGER the group is... Ya know what I mean?? ;)

It was so much fun to find fellow DISers! They were so sweet!!! The baby is soooooooooooooooo cute!!!!!!

I was having problems figuring out how to post pictures so you might have to click on the pic to view it larger. I posted it in the Photo Gallery as well..

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

Sorry that you were sick.

Sorry you were sick, lots of that going on here too. What was the crowd level like?? We are thinking of going a few weeks before Halloween or the 1st week in December next year.

The crowds are usually great in October. I think on a weekend it is much more crowded than during the week. This was the third trip for me in October. I like it cause the weather is usually perfect (except for the hurricanes ;) ;)
Even with the hurriane the weather was beautiful, just too cold for me at night. Although, the last few years have been PERFECT!! Crowds and weather! :flower:

I'm sorry you were sick on your vacation. Sounds like you pushed through it and still had a good time. :wave2:

I was there the same time and luckily I pack like a sherpa. This was the one time my DH was not fussing at me for overpacking - we had raincoats, sweatshirts, jackets.....

I have also had trouble posting my report!!!!!!!!
I thought it was just me! I have typed up a detailed report 3 times and it says its a dup.! By this point I can't remember the details well enough to post.

So they will take you to get your prescription, but what did you do about a doctor? I usually get sick my first day of a trip ( I think the exaustion of getting ready for the trip wears me down, and then when I can finally relax, wham! It hits me) This is good stuff to know for the future...did you call your doctor at home, or is there a clinic there? I would think someplace would deliver a prescription to your hotel.....(Like a Neighborcare?)

BTW -We all had our mental breakdown in World showcase too. Why does it happen when you are all the way on the far side with no way to escape without walking 15 miles around the lagoon. My poor DS5 was rolling on the pavement
crying that he was hungry and wanted to go home. Of course I was frantically looking for food for him, but it involves alot of walking to find something he would eat (mexican? no-next country...Chinese? no,,,next country...it was alful)and by that time he was beyond the point of no return...it was ugly! Dh and I agreed that we would only do WS again with no kids...there was nothing there for them.

You were very smart to pack all of those things, I dont know why I didn't? :confused3 I knew what the weather was going to be like,, I think it felt colder to me because I was sick.

I hear ya about the trouble you are having with the trip report, I tried to make mine as short as possible, I think this is what allowed my post to go through. My report is not as specific a I wanted to be, oh well. :confused3

As far as the Doctor situation went... It was a clinic. We went down to the front desk where you check in/out.. The CM gave me a brochure with the information. It was a local clinic located three miles from the resort. Its a free shuttle that picks you up and once you see the doctor if you get a prescription they fax it to Wallgreens and the shuttle then takes you to pick it up. Then they will drive you either back to your resort or to a park (I went back to POP of course  This is the kicker, it was expensive! Even if you have health insurance they do not except it, you have to pay then get reimbursed later. My appointment was $203.00 plus my prescription was $19.99 (Not too bad, lucky for me, the medicine was the cheap part)The cost to see the doctor was about $138.00 and they gave me a test for step throat and I guess that's why it was $203.00.I had to pay for the test.

I wasn't too happy about that, wasn't planning on getting that sick :( Wasn't planning on spending $200+ on being sick. Would rather have spent money on something else!! Oh well, nothing I can do about it now. The Doctor's office was so cute, they had Disney stuff all over and they were playing Disney movies on the TV in the waiting room. I guess people have use for them to be there. It was a little crowded. There was a young girl and her Mom there and the girl had the same symptoms as me. I didn't have to wait long,I was in and out within an hour.

Oh and last thing... Why do the mental breakdowns ALWAYS involve EPCOT and World Showcase???? I think if you have young children they get bored. This makes me mad cause I love EPCOT! Next time, no kids!

I am so sorry you got strep. Hopefully you'll get to have a replacement trip soon!!

Those little clinics rarely except insurance. A local ER would almost 100% have to, but then you wait for hours. So, it's a no win situation.
