Did anyone watch Oprah today? What do you think of "The Secret"?

Honestly, I watched the first 10 minutes of the show and rolled my eyes. There was this huge build up for in my opinion a show about NOTHING but common sense!

You know what I think about the Secret? I'm thinking that the universe owes me a new car and a nice house right about now...

I had no less than 3 voice mails from one of my friends reminding me to watch this. She's very into sprituality and making your own destiny, etc. Unfortunately I missed the show, however.;)

I had to turn it, what a bunch of bull. It's just a bunch of people who make small fortunes off of desperate people by "lecturing" about common sense, trying to wrap it up in mystery.

It's not "the universe" - like I said, it's common sense. If you spend your money, you're not going to have any! If you make good financial decisions, you'll have more money! If you want to do something in your life and you make good decisions towards it, of course you'll have more success than if you made all the wrong ones. Sheesh!

Since when is responsibility and good decision making a "secret" from the Universe?

And Oprah trying to jump on this "Oh this is what I've always done but didn't know it was a 'secret'"

I didn't catch the Oprah show today but I have seen the movie, three times as a matter of fact. Personally, I think it's a great movie. The Law of Attraction is a powerful tool in the our lives, something that can make a real difference - I know it has in mine.

It's not "just" about responsibility and decision making - it's about a lot more then that. We are all the architects of our life experiences and it goes way beyond simply deciding we're going to do something or that we want something. It's about being completely congruent in how we think and act. It's about understanding how our unconscious thoughts effect our ability to receive and achieve our goals. It's about how the things we invest our thoughts into, are the things that come to our lives - whether they are good or bad. Most people do not understand how truly powerful the mind really is. So why not consciously create good things in our lives?

It's a great movie for anyone looking to make changes in their life, imo.

Ditto!..It goes way beyond common sense! If it was so common, we'd all be living the lives of our dreams, in harmony. There would be no judgement, greed, conflict etc... because everyone would know there is enough to go around.

It kind of bothers me that people say they watched something for 10 minutes and decide they know everything that is to come, in the show, and that it has no value. My advice is to judge for yourself. If you can still watch the Oprah episode, then watch the whole thing. If not, I'm sure you'll know someone that you can borrow the "The Secret" DVD from.

I missed most of the Oprah show yesterday. It seems that they are doing about the same thing Dr. Wayne Dyer is doing. Same principals.

I did catch that they said you only ask once, if you ask again it means you don't believe. I thought to myself couldn't be like asking your husband and the second time is just a gentle reminder. :rotfl:

My girlfriend called me yesterday to say "The Cult" is on, you gotta watch.

I guess I believe whatever works for you.
