We are surprising our DD with a cruise for her birthday and I am about to burst. I have caught myself so many times from saying something. And then yesterday, I posted something on the DIS and the little stinker started reading my signature....where it has the countdown. So now I have to be careful not to leave the DIS up when I walk away from the computer.

We are leaving on January 27th and her birthday is the 28th. We are tell her that DH has a doctor's appointment over by Cocoa beach and that we wouldn't be back in time to get her from the bus so we are taking her out of school for the day. She is going to be so clueless when we get off on the exit to the port. I don't think she will get it until we pull up to unload the luggage. This will be the first time we have surprised her with anything!! Now, I just have to keep my mouth shut!

Chin up Ginger, you can do it. But it might be wise to delete the countdown if you don't want to accidentally spill the beans ot maybe change the wording to be countdown to "stinker's" birthday. Countdowns can be for other reasons than a cruise.

Have a WONDERful time.

I am with you! DH was going to surprise me and our three (DS11, DS7 and DD5) with a West Coast cruise. But, type A me, was bugging him about summer ressies ( we were more than 11 months out!!). I was lobbying for Hawaii or a cruise because it is our 10th anniversary this summer. Well, three weeks before Christmas he sat me down and told me about how he booked airlines, hotel, and a cruise! We are doing Reds games in LA and SD (we love baseball), DL, and the cruise!

Well, I had to keep it from the kids for all that time and I too about spilled the beans I don't know how many times! Keep the faith.........you CAN DO IT! I did! :boat:

I know how badly that secret is eating at you! I surprised my DD7 with trip to WDW, stayed at All Star Movies. Then a 3 day cruise on the Wonder! I lept that secret for 1 month ( it was a last minute decision). I was going nuts!

But, boy was it worth the look on her face!

Wow it is nice to hear others who are suffering as I am. I am surprising my DH for his birthday on a 3 day cruise on 1/27. Now I want you all to know upfront that I hate surprises. Dh usually waits till Christmas ee to shop because I bug him to death prior to that. Anyway, I have this all planned out. He thinks he is going with me on a business trip. I never go on business trips, but anyway he bought it. His brother's birthday is a day after his so I convinced my sister (who is married to DH's brother) to come along. She too is surprising DBIL. I convinced my DB to join us with his son as a trial for the 2006 cruise. We are all flying in seperatley and meeting in Orlando. I figure my DH will think we are going to WDW when he sees his brother and mine and my nephew (4). Of course I have been begging him latley to go to WDW next year. Anyway, I have the limo set up with strict instructions to say NOTHING about the port. I am hoping to surprise him when he sees the ship.

My problem is that everyweekend (I only see him then) I ask him if he wants a hint. He always says no. I want so bad to tell him. I did have to remove the clock because he was watching me a couple weekes ago. I just put it back on because I want to see it!

I am so excited and I want to share that with him. I have had to resort to stealing his clothes when I do laundry so I can pack. :guilty: So far he has not noticed. Thank goodness it is only three days or he would really have a problem with clothing.

So tell me how to stay strong as it gets closer?

Wishing you all a Happy New Year and look forward to any help to get through this without giving it away. I am so excited I could bust.

STAY STRONG !!! It is so worth it. I planned a Disney vacation back in August for this December. I didn't plan on it being a surprise, but as each day went by and I didn't tell the kids, I decided to see how long I could hold out. Well, it couldn't have gone any better. We surprised our two youngest (DS14 & DD8) so much so, that they didn't even know we were going to Disney World until we were physically on the plane and the flight attendant made an announcement about the weather in Orlando. I surprised them with a limo at the airport, an Illuminations cruise and to top it all off, I even surprised DH by flying our oldest DD19 in after her last college final. They all woke up to find her sleeping on the daybed in our room. I have never cried and laughed so much on a vacation before.

Hang in there and don't give in. It's very close and happy birthday to your dd. My ds is also on Jan. 28th.

We surprised our kids about 6 yrs ago too with a trip to WDW. They did not believe us until we were at the airport.

Oh that is so great!! Hope you can keep the secret.

Just think, it really isn't a secret because you have told us! HA! That should help some! Seriously I don't think I could keep a secret like that from my son. Have fun!

I have a secret cruise too, and it's killing me!

We're taking DD on the 3 day Wonder for her 11th birthday. The ship sails ON her birthday (3/10). Our 12 year old neice is also going with us, and I shared the surprise with her. She's great at keeping secrets and I wanted someone else to share the planning with (DH doesn't count, he'll have fun once we go, but he's not at all interested in the planning).

DD already asked me what we're doing for her birthday and I told her that she could take the day off from school and I'd take her and her cousin to do "something" fun. I'm going to pack her suitcase and sneak it in the car, and hopefully she won't guess the "something fun" until we actually see the ship!

You can do it. I had to keep a surprise cruise from my kids for 2 years. We just went on it 2 weeks ago. They were soooo surprised. It was all I could do not to tell them. I almost slipped a few times, but I did it. We told our boys that we were going to Port Canaveral for a navy reunion for my husbands ship. So even when we pull up to the port, turned in our luggage, they still had no idea. I finally told told them when we got upstairs at the Disney terminal. The look on their faces was priceless. It's something that I will always remember. They thought we were the best parents in the world...if only for a little while. :D

Thanks for all the kind words guys! So far so good. I am trying to put it out of my mind until like a week before. Then I will start putting our cruise cloths in the back of the closet so all I have to do is throw them in the suitcase the night before. But this is so hard!

Ginger, I think we may be on the same cruise. Are you on the Wonder? It is turning out to be the cruise of surprises. I want to tell DH so bad. I keep having to remove my countdown clock so he cannot see. I am hoping to get to the port before he realized what is going on. I will help you stay strong and you can help me. Think how surprised your DD will be and what a memory she will have for the rest of her life. When she is 18 she will thank you for the memories.
