The Running Thread --2025

Things continue to progress frustratingly slowly with the hamstring. Still no back to back runs allowed, but I was able to increase the running ratio of my intervals a couple of times during the month. I went ahead and laid out my schedule through the remainder of the year. I just need to be ready to step into a full training program at the end of June in order to be ready for the Emerald Isle Marathon in October. So there's time, I guess. Here's what I got done in April:

April Training
Running: 57.38 miles
Walking: 11.56 miles.
Good luck with the hamstring, and with the Emerald Isle Marathon.
I looked it up, thinking maybe it was in Ireland. Turns out it is a lot closer to home, and looks like a really nifty race.

LOL. This Emerald Isle might not be as green as the one you were thinking of, but it's only a 2.5 hour drive away, making it a lot lower risk "make sure everything works again" race.

It's also a very nice barrier island where I spent countless summer nights gigging flounder with my father. I'm always happy to get back down there to the memories the sights and smells bring back.

April miles- 65. It's been a consistent year for me so far. Unfortunately started experiencing some back pain on Monday and I'm not sure what it is. Have a wedding to go to this weekend so I might just take the next few days off and see what happens.

I've also got one of those 20 pound (though more like 30 really) i grew three babies/perimeno bellies. I wish I could figure out how to be as dedicated to getting my diet under control as I am to my running plans.

Ugh, same. After going to the doctor last week and finding out that I weigh only four pounds less than I did at 9 months pregnant, I finally broke down and made myself a very simple spreadsheet on my phone to track calories/protein. I HATE counting calories but nothing else works for me, even running, apparently. :P I'm hoping that between increased strength training and tracking what I eat, it'll help me shed a few pounds before the next round of marathon training starts again and I need to not be in a calorie deficit. :P

Quick update, FIL had his procedure done on Tuesday. While he has some blockage it was not substantial enough to do anything more about. Basically continue to walk and take his meds. We will be coming home on Saturday so that is good, but sad i am not running the race. We have had some lovely weather this week for running in Ohio.
Glad the procedure went well. I’m sure all are relieved. ❤️ We will miss you at the Dam Run, but maybe we will see y’all at Peachtree, ATL10 Miler, or W&D.

For any Saucony Endorphin people, especially the Pros, I got the notification today that the Elite 2 is now available. I passed on the original due to a ridiculous price point but after the reviews and how I responded to the pro 4, I’m interested in the Elite 2 for sure. Hoping to talk to my local fleet feet next week about them getting some rather than ordering blindly. If anyone gets them or has them now, I’d love some input on them. Tough to drop almost double for shoes but…

So after getting back from SS these were available locally in my chosen color way and I pulled the trigger

When I first got them I went for a quick run and loved them. They seemed to perform about the same as my Pro 4s but were softer and bouncier. Hard to describe just how soft, that’s the same every video review says. The upper is an odd almost 3D printed looking material but is extremely comfortable, like a favorite slipper for me. I will say without a doubt these are the most fun shoes I’ve ever run in, they just make me smile with the bouncy feel. Fast forward to this morning when I decided it’s been a bit since I’ve tried for a new magic mile, same as always I go a slow 2 then all out, then recover on the same loop I usually run. A few years ago my best was 6:38 in near perfect conditions, earlier this year I was able to hit 6:28.
This morning with a T&D of 140 - a new PR!!

Took me a minute to recover on this one but that was for my HR instead of my legs or feet, they were quite happy the entire run. Hoping to run a local marathon in them this month, just waiting until it’s close enough to see the weather and hoping it doesn’t sell out, usually doesn’t. I’m fairly sure I’ll be happy in them for 26.2 but it will be nice to know before any ‘A’ races.

Those are definitely fast-looking shoes, and you proved they are!

Our disBoards group at the 47th Lake Hartwell Dam Run! We had 615 registered runners/walkers in the 5k and 10k with a partially overcast morning and a great race! Everybody keep our race in mind for next year. It’s good for a POT. First Saturday in May every year! DH is race director!

Edited to add: We missed you @garneska and DH!

It was a great morning, and so much fun to see y’all! I’m so glad to find out that @Fischstick and DH are practically our neighbors! We even run at the same park!
