Flying Pig is on my list too! I want to cross off two states in one weekend with it and the Indy Mini, but unfortunately this year's dates don't work. I've heard great things about Flying Pig and am glad to hear good things about Run the Bluegrass!
If you like the idea of two states, let me offer up the Detroit Marathon (October) - it spans two countries! That was my first marathon back in 2012 and really enjoyed it. I'm thinking that will be my fall marathon this year should training go well this spring/summer.
A passport is required so keep that in mind. In addition to the full, there is a US-Canada half also.
My only knock against this race is a bit tongue-in-cheek...they also have a US only marathon and the course is the last half of the full. The start time is maybe 3 or 4 hours after the start of the full. So, here I am at mile 20 or so with "my people" (pace-wise) and then, all of a sudden, there comes a bunch of fast runners zooming by! They're only 7 miles into their race...dang if that wasn't a little disheartening!
The medals are really great and the ribbon has US and Canada themed designs. Even with all of my Disney medals, the Detroit one is still one of my favorites.
