That is good news
@LSUlakes. Congrats to all those finishing their races this weekend!
So during my long run yesterday I got to thinking about this awesome thread and all the people who have contributed with advice, stories, articles or simply a funny thought. I have learned so much from this thread but the thing I think that I appreciate the most is that I feel like I have gotten to know and respect many of you. I feel like the thread has become a space where people share their concerns, fears and challenges. As such we have shared many things and I have noted how many of us have been dealing with family health issues. I know that I have shared that I lost my father-in-law recently to cancer. He had lived with us for the last three years of his life and his loss has been a huge impact on my family and myself.
He was a huge supporter of my running and often met me at the door as I came back from runs to ask how it went. As his health deteriorated he would often tell me to keep running. He even picked out my medals hanger. Anyway, I have decided that I am going to dedicate my attempt at my fall ultra and then Dopey to him. This got me to thinking about what all you have shared. So I have an idea. What if all of us that are going to WDW Marathon Weekend committed to running for something or someone? We could share this with each other, we could create a Running Thread Team, have a meet up prior to one of the races and maybe go so far as to create our own shirt or button or something that could recognize the things we are running for.
So this is just an idea and my feelings will not be hurt in the slightest if this is more of a good idea in the middle of a long run but maybe not so good in reality and people are not interested. I thought I would put this out there for people to think about and maybe we could figure out a way to make my rough ideas work if others are interested. So give it some thought. Either way I will be running in honor of Chris. Enjoy the long weekend!
