The Running Thread - 2016

A small group from Baton Rouge made the trip up there. Not a bad drive. You should definitely check it out.

How far from Atlanta? Have to plan a trip up and see DD. Maybe even get her into running this one. I will be driving up from South Florida.
 
QOTD for yesterday. Right now all medals and bibs in a drawer.

QOTD for today. Mostly water or a Carnation Instant Breakfast drink
 

QOTD: What is your favorite coffee or morning beverage?

Coffee is always first for me, water (at any temperature) first thing in the morning always kills my stomach. I just do a Columbian/medium roast Kcup of some sort with a "fancy" creamer (right now I'm doing peppermint mocha, lol).

After that first cup of coffee, water goes down more easily and I drink a few glasses of that. :o
 
I like just a hot water first thing in the morning, pretty boring but helps with my IBS. If I'm racing I'll then sip lucozade sport for the rest of the morning up until race time!
 
So just wondering what site people use to track their runs (if they are type A's like me and track everything). I've been using Strava for over a year and a half now after trying some of the other sites out there. I especially like how it easily integrates into my Garmin Connect account and automatically uploads from my watch.

I use Garmin connect and sync my fitness pal with it when I need to lose a few pounds like I currently do. falgoustjerry is my handle. Type A as well, I love data!

Google says it's about 5 and half hours from Atlanta to Millington TN.

ATTQOTD: Red Bull. Terrible choice I know. Starting Monday I plan on giving them up to help drop a few pounds.

Most mornings I have copious amounts of coffee. My preferred cup now is a kona blend ground course with a a little bit of half and half. Race morning drink of choice is a starbucks double-shot. It's about 6 oz's with a good dose of caffiene

I use Garmin connect and runkeeper. I use Tapriilk to keep them in sync.

I use Training Peaks. It pulls all my data from Garmin Connect right into the workouts that my coach had scheduled for me. I also have a Strava account mainly to accept the rides I do in Zwift. If there's enough of us, we could always create a WISH or DIS club.

Same! Except sugar-free.

I tried to give it up for a week and drink coffee instead, and it was the worst and a total no-go.
 
So, who is running today with the crazy weather across the country? Our high in Baton Rouge is 47 today and current wind chill is in the lower 30's because of this 20 mph wind. Going to be cold all weekend. Maybe if I could just run a route today with the wind at my back and have someone pick me up at the end...

2 feet of snow here in Virginia, 20-30 mph winds........might be a good day to try and hang up our medals. Stay safe everybody.
 
QOTD: coffee for me. Day to day I can't start my day without it. But, I never have it on Disney race days. Go figure.

I track my stuff all over the place, I'm a data junkie. I use Garmin connect, Strava, MFP, and Map my Run. I like different sites for different reasons. My Garmin easily uploads to all, so it's easy to ignore certain sites when their data isn't what I'm looking for. I use Strava most though, it's the only site I always check post run. I really like using segments to track my progress over time.
 
I also track my stuff everywhere. Garmin Connect syncs with Endomondo and Strava. Also import into Smashrun from Garmin. Everything presents the data just a little differently.

My running club has a group on Strava.

Just a good old cup (or two) of coffee. I am trying to decrease empty calories so have backed off of my weekly mocha's. Since Starbucks owns my soul a regular coffee is a lot cheaper and I have a Dopey Trip to save for.

I guess I am too old school when it comes to tracking my runs. I just keep a journal on my iPad with distances, thoughts and evaluations. I don't even own a garmin, using my phone and mapped out routes to track my mileage. Hey at least I have moved beyond my hand written journals!

I never developed a taste for coffee thank goodness. I definitely cannot do energy drinks. I have to stay away from the caffeine as much as I can.
