The Royal Wedding

Will you get up early/stay up late to watch the live coverage of the Royal Wedding?

  • Yes, I wouldn't miss it for the world

  • Only if I have a similar bout of insomnia

  • Not if you tied me to a chair and taped my eyes open

A bout of insomnia tonight has me wondering...

Will you be getting up early/staying up late to watch all of this coverage on the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton? He is said to be having a budget wedding compared to his mother's, and they will not be setting up their new home with the help of servants!

I remember my mom waking me up as a little girl to see Princess Diana's wedding. It was definitely magical, but I think I'll DVR this one!

they're only 1 hour behind, so no need to get up early or stay up late. Ofcourse I will watch!

I would love to but I will probably be at work. My grandmother woke me up early to watch Diana's wedding. He is so much like his mother. I know she would be so proud of him.

Not a chance in you-know-where!

I'm a history nerd (BA in History, MA in History Ed) and am typically all over historical events and go out of my way to "witness" them.

But I just don't give a flip about weddings. Maybe if it hadn't been so OVER-covered the past few weeks/months by the media, I wouldn't be sick of hearing about it & would at least DVR it... but I am so sick of hearing about the dress and the guests and the reception and all that wedding stuff that just bores me to tears.

I set the DVR this morning. I'll watch the parts I'm interested in when I have time.

Of course, I am getting up at 3:00am to watch the pre-show while preparing English tea complete with scones & clotted cream and strawberries and cream and tea sandwhiches for breakfast. Hubby might get up. I have fond memories of watching Di & Charles with my late grandmother though I will let my boys sleep in until the 'big event'. Then shuttle the boys off to school and I'll take a nice royal nap :cloud9:

Yes, but mainly because DS has the tendency to be awake before 6 anyway. What's an extra hour to start coverage?

I get up at 4:30 am for work anyway so a few minutes earlier won't hurt me.

You know this morning I got up and turned on the local news, in the first 12 minutes I heard,

A promising honor student was shot and killed on Easter by stray gunfire
2 policement were found guilty of extortion and brutality after years of arresting prostitues and forcing them to have sex in exchange for letting them go.
2 deaths by auto accident.
along with the normal wars in Libya, Syria, afghanastain.
and the skyrocketing gas prices

And this is a pretty normal day. So you know what, I think a little pomp and pagentry would actually put a smile on my face for once.

I'm not sure what time it starts...but I will probably watch. I get up early anyway. Nice to watch something HAPPY on the TV!

Yes with coffee in hand I will be up. I watched the whole wedding of Charles and Diane too.

Me too. The day they made the announcement I requested the day off work, and I almost never take off work!

I won't be watching it because I'll be driving to WDW:cool1: Even if I was home I wouldn't be watching it. Sounds like a snooze-fest to me. I can't wait until it's over so I can stop hearing about it. Just curious why so many Americans seem excited for this wedding? :confused3I can understand here in Canada a little more because we are technically part of the common wealth. If my history is correct didn't the Americans cut all ties in 1784;)It just seems to be blown way our of porportion.

Charles and Diana were married just a few months after hubby and I were and I remember waking up super early to watch the wedding on our itty bitty TV in our tiny little student apartment :)

I'll definitely be setting my alarm for William and Kate. I think we'll have strawberries and cream for breakfast too-thanks for the idea!

I remember watching Charles and Diana get married. I won't watch this one live, but I am sure I will be able to catch all of the highlights on the news in the following week!

I'll wait for the highlights on the evening news that will be played over and over, on every channel, for about a week afterwards.

I really don't see what all the fuss is about. And then the British don't even invite the head of the US. I don't like Obama but I feel that this is an insult to the US since we are fighting a war with the British in the middle east. Oh well, I give them ten years before the divorce.
