Sunday 10th August
Cast List
Me: No introduction required, I suspect most of you know me by now!
DW: Long suffering DW of the above
Alex: 15 - Coaster and Disney freak
Laura: 13 - Style queen
I was up and awake very early this morning for some unknown reason Alison and Alexandra woke up at about 8am.
The usual suspects had breakfast in the food court this morning as Lauras first words were Im not getting up .
I had a toasted Ham and Cheese sandwich which was ENORMOUS probably a good side of pig in that one. I almost had to dislocate my jaw to take a bite like some ancient reptile. The others all had the same breakfasts as the previous day and it came to about the same price - $19.
While we were eating the maid tried to evict Laura from the room but Laura managed to stall the lady in the nicest possible way. Anyway, after a bit of shuffling to and from the car (its so hot and humid today) we were on our way to the Beach Club Villas for our first taste of DVC by about 10am.
Alison checked in while I self-parked the car.
Alison here:
Well what a difference! The girls and I were met at the door and escorted to the front desk. There was a small queue (about two people!) and the chap that took us to the desk said hed try to get us checked in at the concierge check in desk, but there was a queue there so we waited. He talked to us about the resort and what was where etc.
He introduced us to the front desk clerk when it was our turn, all very very efficient. I was majorly impressed! Shaun had caught us up by this point, and it just took a couple of minutes to complete the paperwork, get room keys printed (with charging for all of us!) and it was all correct first time. Much better that the All Stars!
Our villa wasnt ready (as we expected at that time of day) but they took our phone number to call us when it was ready. We left our valuables in a safety deposit box, and left the luggage with bell services, and walked to Epcot (thats the first time weve ever been able to say that!) after having a brief look around the resort. We loved it and couldnt wait to check out the room.
So, a few minutes later we went into Epcot for the first time via the International Gateway and straight into the United Kingdom.
Couple of initial snaps
And now a word from our sponsors: - Britain, Britain, Britain!... Land of technological achievement! We've had running water for over ten years, an underground tunnel that links us to Peru and we invented the cat!
Oh well, nice picture postcard image without the weather, ASBOs and graffiti LOL
After a quick dash past Canada, (no offence), we went into Future World, the place where we all want to be if the truth be known.
We all love Epcot and always have done! Theres just something about it.
Our first stop is the fastpass machine for Test Track, then we went over to Imagination (its always so quiet here) and then to The Living Seas (I love the queuing area). Turtle Talk with Crush was full so we thought wed skip that for another time (we never did get to do it this holiday!).
We were getting hungry by this point so went into the Land to eat in Sunshine Seasons.
We had 3 massive (but fairly expensive) sandwiches, 1 chicken Caesar salad, 3 sodas and 1 Powerade. Total cost was about $38.
All I really wanted was a giant pretzel and cheese but Id gone to about 3 kiosks and theyd all sold out!
After lunch we did the Living with the Land ride then we popped into Mexico to do the Three Caballeros ride (we still prefer the old ride!) and while we were looking at the stalls/shops the mobile rang and it was the front desk at Beach Club saying that our room was ready.
Hooray! Room 441 it was. We decided to finish up doing the rides we wanted to do before heading back to Beach Club.
It was time for our Test Track fast pass now so we headed over there excellent ride as always, even if we do know the narration off by heart!
We then tried the re-vamped Spaceship Earth (quite big queues here today) and we were pleasantly surprised. Dame Judy does a reasonable job on the narration and most of the original features were still in place.
Ok this is one of those attractions that either evolves or gets mothballed and preserved as some historic item. Things must always evolve for each subsequent generation I guess.
As you exit you get to see where the bulk of the visitors came from mainly from the Eastern seaboard and UK on that day.
