Yay my first ever trip report! Let me start by just saying that we had more fun then ever thought possible it was by far our most favorite trip! Before I get started let me give a little back ground info.

The infamous crew:
:surfweb: my mom- head planner and a perfectionist in her own right
pirate: my dad- retired military always likes to keep on a schedule and is the biggest goober of all time ever (a lot people can just throw that title out there but let me just say he’s the real deal)
princess:my little sister- the child who always got educational toys for Christmas don’t get me wrong she can be really goofy but she has a tendency smart the whole family at times
princess: me- Disney know-all and will forever be a child at heart
princess: my best friend- hasn’t gone to WDW since she was little so she’s practically a newbie (ha ha oh what it’s like to be green!)

We go to Disney once a year so this trip had 365 days of planning (I guess when you're a DIS memeber that's just something you do!) Since we were bringing 5 people along this year we opted to stay in POR. We had stayed at Shades of Green the last time we went and were disappointed in the lack of Disney at the hotel (you’re in DISNEY World why would you want anything else?) so even though the price was cheaper (needless to say my dad was all about the Shades of Green) and the room was bigger (like my mom told my little sister about POR "the trundle will be fun it'll be like ... um uh ... camping out!") I was going to make sure that our family never ever stayed anywhere but Disney and POR seemed to fit our budget and number of people (that stuff’s kind of important!) At first I was a little questionable about staying there, Riverside is themed after the coastal area of Louisiana and Mississippi area and being that I live on the coast of Mississippi I kept thinking I’d want a little bit different atmosphere on vacation (I actually loved POR and plan on going back to it next year but I’ll get to that later) For the first time on this trip we were booking with AAA (let me just say the luggage tags sealed the deal I smacked mine on my luggage as soon as I touched it!) and were going to experience the beloved DDP (lots of food that seemed practically free we were in!) I couldn’t be happier I had been counting down for forever and talking about it every chance I got (if you weren’t talking about Disney something was seriously wrong you needed a trip to the ER). I kept wishing it would hurry up but my mom was always there to remind “Enjoy it because it comes and goes faster then you realize.” As I’m typing this trip report I just want to kick myself because for the millionth time in my life my mom was right and I would do anything to go back to that time. So anyways before I make myself cry the point was I was thrilled and was determined to have the best time of my life! Like I had hoped the months and the weeks passed. I had a list of everything I was going to pack (everything from socks to bobby pins you name it I had it listed), memorized The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, knew exactly what I was going to eat at every restaurant, and made a vow to myself to try the sacred Dole Whip (little did I know it was on the DDP!) In short I was prepared and as far as I knew I was a Disney Genius (I can’t think DIS enough with out you I’d be the average Disney vacationer who secretly we all want to laugh at and sometimes not so secretly) So like my mom had promised the day came and I was off to the most magical place in the world, the same place where no matter how old I get as soon as I go through the incredibly famous “Purple Gates” I feel like I’m five again (I mean that in the most literal way possible I wore my goofy slippers everywhere at the hotel ask any cast member there and if you didn’t see me with a crown or golden mouse ears on well I can honestly say you were looking at the wrong person!) What I’m trying to say is dang it I was on my way to see Mickey Mouse!

You sure did your homework before your trip! I find that the more prepared I am for the trip, the more fun I have! I can't wait to hear what you thought of a Dole whip. Yum.

Thanks for posting.

Ah yes, the feverish countdown followed by manic depression on the return, I know it well :teeth: , :cheer2: great first part,
Claire xx

Okay I'm back! Believe it or not I could have made that last post a lot more detailed!

So I was officially on my 9 hr. drive to see The Mouse I would say that I was really excited ... but I was asleep. My best friend and I had this "brilliant" idea that the night before we would pull an all nighter so on the car ride we would sleep most of the time and when we got towards central Florida we would be more excited, makes sense right? Wrong. We ended up almost staying up the whole night, we got an hr. of sleep but as far as I was concerned I pulled an all nighter (I'm a big sleep junkie)! So basically we thought we were off to a good start (at 6 in the morning!) untill my very sleepy self realizes she left all of her money at home, not too big of a deal we weren't far along at all parents were a little frustrated they were on a mission to get to WDW but the problem was fixable. So I'll save everybody from the long epic story of the search for the lost money turns out (I'm sure my mom purposely put it there!), who would have thought it, I was sitting on it! (yeah i never lived down "the lost money" if you couldn't find something during the trip I was sitting on it!) So after a I got a few dirty looks we were off to Disney World ... again. After all the searching I wasn't that tired anymore I was ready to get my golden ears! I ended up sleeping about an hour so the once "brilliant" idea had failed I was without sleep and still had 8 hrs. to go. Let me just say the car was packed! You got to figure it was 4 girls' luggage (pretty much everything we owned) for a week in an Explorer! That left me, my best friend, and my little sister sitting in the back seat barely being able to move and lucky me was in the middle! When I said barely able to move I meant me and my best friend. My little sister on the other had mastered the art of elbowing to get space. I literally had bruises on my side, those elbows were from hell. Of course as far as my parents were concerned she couldn't help it but I was the only one who recognized her evil scheme. Thank the Lord for pillows because that was the only thing cushioning the impact! So after a few Disney movies, lots of sugar, and endless elbows we were approaching Orlando! I was so thrilled not only was I going to dine with princesses and wake up Tinkerbell but I was escaping the elbows and overpacked car! What is it about the purple gates? No matter how times I see them I always mannage to "tear up" (I also took a picture!) After passing through the magical gates we were off to Port Orleans! I have to say we looked like the Clampetts pulling up because we were so over packed but that's okay we were staying in Alligator Bayou that was practically are brotherin'! I really was impressed with it when I got there it was so much nicer then I thought it would be! I was about to have a spaz attack when I saw that they had changed the bags, everybody else just thought it was nice I was like I can't get over how beautiful they are! (you have to realize I had just survived a 9 hr. car drive where I couldn't move everything was beautiful) So after visiting the giftshop (hey what can I say Disney is good with marketing!) and buying a 50th pen and autograph book that also held pictures I was all checked in and ready to see my new home fot the next week! The room looked better in person and even though I laughed at the privacy curtain and said I wouldn't use it, it was a huge convenience i was forever using that wonderous curtain! One of the first things I did? Found the WDW channels! Wow it had certaintly changed (I was at Shades of Green last time and didn't even get the channels :guilty: ) um Stacie what to say about Stacie :rotfl: Even though she was incredibly annoying and I often made fun of her (especially that shirt she wore at Epcot) we only watched that station and as weird as this sounds I miss watching Stacie. So after making all these new discoveries (the new bags, the curtain, Stacie and who knows what I was sitting on!) I was ready to go to MK my favorite themepark that I could spend the whole week at if I really wanted to! So everyone packed up (I was sporting a fabulous princess bookbag that I was determined to get signed by every princess) and headed to the buses! You know it's funny sometimes I think I'm more of a little kid now then I ever was especially when I'm on my way to MK! Even though I had to stand I took in every moment of that bus ride and when I saw the castle I almost had a break down (that would have been awkward the bus was packed just like our car) I could not get in the gate fast enough because I knew that behing that train station were mouse ears, Dole whips, and princesses and I was going to experience all of it! So after sliding in my ticket and doing the 2 finger thing (I hated when the machine wasn't working and the cm would say remember 2 fingers I was wearing golden ears I was not your average vacationer I knew the system) I was in! I love it when you come out of the tunnel and you can smell the popcorn , see the balloons, hear the happy music they play, and get your first real look at the castle! Don't get me wrong I was in awe which for me means I was in tears but you see I was a girl on a mission, a mission for gold! I had had my eyes on the golden mouse ears as soon as The Happiest Celebration on Earth started and I was going to wear them the entire time on my trip! Like any good DIS'er I knew where to go, The Hat Shoppe on Main Street! I grabbed those ears and told them my name to be monogrammed faster then you could say Fast Pass! I was so thrilled that they also had bobby pins (they were gold also!) for the serious mouse ear wearers because mine were not coming off!

It’s funny but I felt such a sense of peace after getting the ears of gold such a vital part of our trip had been accomplished! While soaking up Main Street we realized that Cinderellabration was about to begin-just our luck we had never seen it before and all of us are huge princess fans, secretly even my dad (I’m almost positive he has a thing for Ariel). I’m so glad we saw it the first day I know that I enjoyed it more then I would later in the trip. All and all it was a great show no one was more excited when Cinderella became a princess then me (I put the 4 year olds to shame!) So after Cinderella had a happy ending we were starting to feel the Orlando sun and decided to go ride rides (you can only stand around so long at WDW without having the urge to ride something) What land do you start out in at MK? Easy Fantasyland! I like to start the trip out right so riding something like Tomorrowland Transit Authority just won’t do. I was going all the way to the top … Peter Pan’s Flight! Even though it doesn’t have any thrills, or innovative special effects it’s my favorite ride and always will be! Why? Because “going” to Neverland in MK is like learning math in math class it just makes sense, it’s what it’s all about! When I say it’s my favorite I mean it I waited in line 45 minutes for it when It’s A Small World right across the street had a 10 minute wait, in other words I love this ride! So all of us got on our ships and flew through the one place where you never grow old and even though my little sister managed to find a way to elbow me countless times I couldn’t care less she was my sister and we were in Neverland! After our adventure we were feeling a little hungry thankfully we knew that all we had to do is flash our ticket and we could have whatever our hearts desired because we were on the beloved DDP! Before our trip we had read good reviews about Cosmic Rays and decided to eat our first meal in WDW there (ah the chosen one) I have to admit that the reviews were right there was plenty of seating and great variety for a counter service but I couldn’t help feeling that the restaurant was stark. I don’t know if it was because I was running off of 2 hours of sleep, was overwhelmed, or the fact that there was a old space liazrd in front of me but it seemed weird. Don’t get me wrong the lizard kept me entertained but it was so random. Despite the randomness I did find a way to eat (of course I ate I was all about the DDP) I had the chicken fingers and thought that they were very good and for my desert I got the chocolate cake that looked like a cupcake and being that it was chocolate I liked it! It really is a decent counter service the food is not extraordinary but if you’re hungry and need a place to take a break go to Cosmic Rays. So after spending the time with the crazy space lizard my little sister decided that she wanted to go to the gift shop in Toon Town to do the My Little Pony thing. (my best friend and I like to be goofy and really are little kids at heart so we were in on this little deal as well I wanted a pony too dang it) Unfortunately when we got there we realized that there was very little selection and the ponies were random (there was a cinnamon roll, apple, and candy pony). So we ended up pony-less. That was okay though we were going to watch Wishes, the one firework show that no matter how many times I watch it makes me cry! When we made our way over to the central hub Spectromagic was still going. No offense to those of you who like it but I find it really weird, those clown people are surely on drugs. It’s just disappointing it could have been so much better. I wish they hadn’t done so much from Fantasia I know it was a huge movie in Disney history but I don’t like it as a parade. I just wish they would change it great concept just needs a little work. Anyways I was glad we had some time get to a game plan where to sit and enjoy the moment. So the parade ended and being the die hard Disney World fan that I am I was going to scope out a spot (even if I had to dodge strollers and pull out some elbow tricks I learned from my little sister) and send my friend back to tell the rest of the family where I was. Let me remind you it was very crowded (wall to wall people), my dad decided we didn’t need cell phones that night, and I didn’t have a ticket (which is also my hotel key and source of food) if I had to meet them back at POR so needless to say I really didn’t want to get lost. We just decided to park it on the street in front of the castle (it was a good view) so I sent the little messenger back and practically did a split on the sidewalk trying to save their spot. Let me tell you I was a little worried it took them forever to get back and I was doing an almost split with my mouse ears on so I looked pretty goofy (yeah Goofy’s got nothing on me!) Of course much to my surprise they didn’t leave me (they really do love me!) and we all sat on the sort of, kind of, maybe if you imagined it was clean concrete and watched the best firework show ever (Disney’s going to have to pull out quite the show if they ever change Wishes or I won’t be impressed!) I did it all that day (don’t worry I will eventually get the Dole whip) I laughed, I cried, and got elbowed more times then most people in there life! It was a great beginning to our 7 (later to be changed to 8) day vacation!
