Well dang. Some of you may remember that I had spine surgery back in April for a severely herniated disc. BEfore surgery, the pain down my right leg was excruciating. Post surgery I was 95% better the second I woke up! I did nearly 12 weeks of P/T and was doing fabulous. The leg and back pain were gone. The numbness had resolved itself. Only had minor weakness in my right ankle.
About 3 days ago, (nearly 16 weeks post surgery) I started getting achey again in my lower back. No biggie. Just a nagging kind of thing. I haven't done anythintg "extra". I;ve been super good and super careful about not over-exerting myself.
Anywho, now my left leg...my "good leg" is starting to experience some tingling/numbing. I am CRUSHED. I had a follow up with the surgeon scheduled for two weeks from now but I moved it up to Monday (earliest available). While I am not in the agonizing pain I was before surgery, I am not as good as I was after surgery and even a week ago. I was doing SO good!
I am just freaking out and devastated that I may have reinjured the same disc or that the one above/below may be taking a hit to make up for the one that was surgcally messed with.
This just sucks! I HAD to have the surgery before. The disc had herniated so badly that he was mashed into my spinal cord. Surgeon wants to do a case study for the medical journals!
Anyone else relapse after spine surgery? Is it "normal"? The ache isn't debilitating...just "there", you know? But the tinglyness is worrisome.
