I understand about The Crystal Palace in London, which is a beautiful building. I also am aware of Crystal Palace FC, a soccer team based from that same building. And yes, Winnie the Pooh is based out of The Hundred Acre Wood in England.

So how did Disney come up with their rendition of Crystal Palace restaurant in MK? What relation does The Crystal Palace in England have with Crystal Palace in Disney and have with The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh?

Or did I just answer my own question?

I always figured it had to do with the White City from the Chicago World's Fair in 1893, but I'm not sure why I think that, other than Walt loved him some World's Fairs.

Interesting read, @DisneyWishes14 , but one question still remains. If it's based off of the Kew Gardens in England, why name the restaurant in Disney after one of its biggest competitors within London?

Who are the competitors in the question?

From Disney's site..."Inspired by Victorian greenhouses of the late 1800s, The Crystal Palace brims with light, topiaries and tropical palms..."

Perhaps they named it after the building that doesn't exist anymore (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Crystal_Palace) to avoid problems?

Possibly. But The Kew Gardens from that article that @DisneyWishes14 posted is in a different part of London from where The Crystal Palace lied. So why base it off one building, but then name it after another?

does it really matter? it's fun and delicious and a palace in my eyes.

I'm a curious person, and it seems that there's a reason behind virtually every little detail in the Magic Kingdom. The names of people on the windows at Main Street USA are people that were influential to making WDW what it is, today. A lot of the company names on the same street were the names Walt used as shell companies to buy the land to make what is now Walt Disney World.

Am I going to lose sleep over this? No. But I'm just strangely puzzled as to why this restaurant was given this name.

I am guessing that Roy or Walt enjoyed the Conservatory in San Francisco, thus the idea of including it. They tucked it around the corner from Main Street and it overlooks the gardens in front of the the Castle. Back in the day, the gardens/central park in front of the Castle were more lush.
