The Reason Why There Is No Mickey Waffles At Cabanas Breakfast

A bit rude, don't you think? Especially considering the fact that you haven't even sailed on a Disney ship yet. It's amusing to me that you seem to think you're an "expert" on all things DCL from reading about and watching videos of other's experiences. Disney cruisers pay a premium for the Disney experience, it may seem trivial to you but Mickey waffles have become an expected part of the Disney experience.

For the past year or so she's assumed herself as the authority on all things DCL on here.. TBF she did just recently go on her first DCL cruise, one of those 'staycation' sailings... maybe a sailing out of the UK counts for 10x sailings us commoners take out of PC? :confused3

This seems the most stupid possible reason for it, why can’t they have them even with the 5 different counters? what’s stopping them serving them at each one just like they are pancakes, french toast etc

Have heard they’ve now changed Cabanas on the UK sailings back to more pre covid set up with the usual large selection of options rather than the 5 small stations all serving th same stuff, sailing again this week so hope that’s correct as was really disappointed by this last month and yes, no Mickey waffles in there was gutting because while they may not be mind blowing food, enjoying them at breakfast on sea days while sat outside at Cabanas is one of those little moments I always enjoy on my cruises

No, she didn’t. She’s not yet been on a single DCL cruise. She’s from Ireland, not the UK (so, couldn’t have done a UK staycation cruise).

Interesting. A while back right after the 1st UK staycation cruise I pointed out something similar, that she's been offering expert advice and even ridiculing people without ever sailing on a DCL ship, and she replied with a link showing someone on youtube during that particular sailing.. I assumed it was her.
@BadPinkTink can you clarify?

I know the post/YouTube video you’re referring to and that’s 100% not her as I know the person whose video it actually is

I agree with a lot of the perspectives mentioned in this thread...the outrage over Mickey Waffles is a bit overblown. If that is the one thing that makes or breaks your vacation, I think you are just trying to find something to complain about.

That said, I don't buy for a second the "social distancing" excuse. Each station has the same food, of which 95% is made in the back. They don't scrambe eggs, cook bacon, pancakes, etc at each and every station. I have seem how Cabanas works, When a tray of food is running low, an employee removes the tray, and places a new one already filled with food. It is often covered with plastic wrap, they put it down and peel off the wrap. There is nothing preventing them from doing the same with waffles.

If there are no waffles, there is likely another very plausible explanation. Perhaps they had a limit on the batter for the cruise and limited it to MDR. Maybe some of the waffle makers broke and they couldn't make them fast enough. Whatever the reason is, it isn't "social distancing". Also, this was just the first cruise back. I will not be surprised at all to see them return to Cabanas in the coming sailings.

totally agree, there absolutely has to be another explanation for it because the one said is stupid and makes zero sense

while Cabanas (on the Magic) was disappointing it didn’t personally ruin my experience at all, expected things not to be normal, definitely missed pre covid cabanas but if that was the only disappointment of cruising during a pandemic then I’ll take that as a win, everything else was great

The word "outrage" is a bit overblown. People are learning about the number of cutbacks and what's been cut, and they're disappointed. No one's "outraged," except maybe at the flimsy excuse for not serving the waffles.

I agree. “No waffles” is not a deal-breaker, but when you add up all of the changes, compromises, limitations in services, things missing, etc., it all adds up. Especially when they are still charging full price.

You’re willing to accept some big things (masks, vax/testing) because you know they’re important and the need is legit.

But when you get some flimsy B.S. excuse for something small like the waffles, it’s more than a little irritating because you get the feeling that DCL is using COVID/social distancing as a convenient blanket excuse to do (or not do) whatever they want.

Like @jrapps said, maybe there is a legit reason for no waffles, but don’t hand us some half-*** “because COVID” as the reasoning.

They can have all they want, just have to go to the MDR.

I think made to order omelettes and Mickey waffles are in the MDR ONLY to help spread the crowds. Just my 2 cents ….

He gets up at 5.....even waiting for Cabanas to open will be a challenge.

I love being told how loco I am for not understanding how eating mickey waffles works in a pandemic from someone who hasn’t even sailed on DCL.

She also called castaway club members entitled a while back. Said that the future of DCL was with first time cruisers, like her, instead of cruisers like me, who has 7 DCL cruises booked this year. 8 cabins total. I shudder to add up the cost of all those cabins, so I don’t!

I like eating Mickey waffles in cabanas every morning. It is one of the little things that makes me spend much more money to sail with DCL instead of NCL. Seems like disney could figure out a way to have them in cabanas!

We have our 10th cruise booked on the Fantasy 10/30/21. It actually makes me sad to think they won’t be there and I don’t even eat them. But it’s my daughter’s absolute favorite thing about cruising and maybe if someone hasn’t cruised before they can’t understand that as a parent to see my daughter (even if she’s 20 now) excited to get her Mickey waffles and strawberries every morning is part of the magic of sailing DCL. Yes if it sails I’m sure we will have a Magical time but part of me does wonder if it will feel like something is missing…

As in so many things, what people want is not practical or logical from an operations point of view.

Making and serving such a popular item as Mickey waffles can hardly be considered not practical or logical. Where there is a will there's a way

Hey gang, lets keep the comments here about Mickey Waffles. Whether people's feelings and opinions are justified or not is not on topic.

As I side note I did want to point out, only 1 station at cabanas had the toast/bagles/English Muffins, so if you got in the one that didnt you then had to go to the other to get your breads. And then the cream cheese wasn't even with the bagels so that was another trip around. I felt the set up really didn't work well. I don't think throwing in waffles somewhere would have caused any more crowds/roaming around.
